Just ignore the fact that the octopi has been a motif for imperialist expansionism since millennia. The most ridiculous part of the “controversy” is that the cartoon is actually anti-British. The blue octopus represents Winston Churchill (archive) and the British Empire. Every single one of the places where the tentacle is touching the Earth was a British colony (Falkland Islands, British Guyana, South and Southwest Africa, India, Pakistan, Singapore/Malaysia, and Hong Kong/unknown Pacific islands). The Star of David is just because the Nazi cartoonist who drew it believed that Churchill was influenced by Jews.
