I really, REALLY wanna know how the fuck there is a Texas-California alliance against the Federal Government. Honestly I might end up watching just to hear what sort of explanation they can come up with for that combo. It's almost as bizarre as a Zionist-Nazi alliance, but then again that did actually happen so there is a precedent.

I am also intrigued by the political slant, or better said the apparent lack thereof. You would think such a project being made the 2020's would feature some real spicy "ripped straight from the headlines" shit but if there is they have shown nothing of it on the trailer.

Alex Garland, hes a communist or at least someone who communists love (Dan Olson especially) and someone who supports commie shit unironically (2000AD) so this is probably commie shit. Also his films have been uncritically praised since his inception in the film industry (A bit like Adam McKay whos also a Democrat shill except Garland is british), almost no pans except probably audience pans cause Annihilation and Men were forgotten instantly, so expect journos to praise this movie to high heaven.

Shattered Union. I remember the launch videos for that game. #oldasfuck

And SU at least had the semi-believable premise of Russia invading Alaska, which you had to retake in-game.
I was talking about the 2nd civil war in Deus Ex actually. Here is the synopsis of how that started:
In 2030, a major earthquake sank most of Southern California into the ocean. With the United States government focusing on the disaster on the ex-West Coast, the needs of the other parts of the country went unmet, leading Utah to secede from the United States, declaring its independence and annexing what was left of Arizona and Nevada. Inspired by Utah's example, fringe groups in Texas declared independence as well. The Northwest Secessionist Forces formed in short order, made up of various paramilitary groups in Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon, who band together with Utah and Texas. The US government replied with violence, deploying the military to crush the resistance.

Oh and bonus points if one of the reasons given for the civil war is gun control:
The Sporting Weapons Act was a landmark legal act passed by the United States Congress in 2042. Greatly restricting the right to own weapons and the Second Amendment (at least how it was interpreted in the late 20th century), the Act criminalized the possession of rifles, grenades, land mines, and other "collectibles". A nearly uniform refusal to surrender arms by state militas led to the formation of the National Secessionist Forces under the leadership of Leon Woods.

Around 0:05 seconds, they mention the Florida alliance. Awesome. An elite commando force of Floridamen. The divided United States is about to become the Imperium of Floridia.
Maybe they're just assuming Texas has been sufficiently re-Mexicanized/Californicated.
That's what it looked like. Some La Raza nonsense. As if Texas would allow that. We know California would, but certainly not Texas.

On the Deus Ex wiki, many commenters are upset and crying about the fact that the wiki describes the NSF as a right wing movement, since one of the things that pushed them over the edge was a weapons ban. They comment things like, "The NSF literally calls UNATCO fascists! They have be radical left!" You know, cuz calling someone fascists isn't a thing that every group uses as an insult.
Why they treat a civil war as an Apocalypse? It's a fucking war, not a zombie virus.
28 days later director. That's all he knows. Though I'd imagine being in a war zone could feel apocalyptic at times.

Around 0:55 seconds, "They shoot journalists on site in the capital." Okay, that's pretty cool.

Getting a Monsters crossed with the second half of Children of Men vibes. So what's the third act twist going to be? Federal government is bombing civilians and covering it up, so how are they going to pull off "actually the secessionists are worse so remember to vote Blue"? Or is it just going to be "both sides bad, journos are the real heroes"?
