Civil War - Hollywood's fantasy about the fight against doland drumph?

The issue is that pop culture is beyond satire, so I don't get if the president is supposed to be a villain (which he sounds like) or the seceding states. And yeah it looks like a Zombie film because there is no population despite nothing big happening unless they want to throw in some COVID killing everyone commentary.

California and Texas being the ones seceding sounds like a cheap way to not be accused of political bias. But it's ridiculous with how far they are and being such a large states that won't have a reason to do it. It might also just to have foreign audience know the states because they are iconic, compared to flyover states (which are more likely to secede irl since they are regularly fucked).

In general it looks extremely shallow "military bad" (only the soldiers are zoomers).

I am trying to find out more about the plot so I can make sense of the thing but I can't see shit. The main plot synopsis so far is "In the near future, a team of journalists travel across the United States during a rapidly escalating civil war that has engulfed the entire nation." Which tells me nearly nothing. I have seen a map of the supposed "division" of the country and it looks something like this:

map.png

This map, of course, makes exactly 0 fucking sense unless we assume some massive political changes have taken place or the movie being set some 20 years ahead to account for such changes. Light blue is Feds the the deep blue is Texas and California. Then you have the northwest which is allied to them and the Florida Alliance doing a anemic Dixie thing.

The closest thing to a plot is a summary I found on ScreenRant indicates that the reason for it is that the President in the movie is on his 3rd term now, and is super corrupt and disavowed the allegiance of the government to the constitution. The problem here of course is that this make no fucking sense whatsoever as this would make it hard for the corrupt administration to keep themselves making money and keeping power, and there is no explanation given yet to how exactly this works at all to keep the Fed in power or how the corrupt are making money if they just killed the golden egg laying goose of the USA.

Also wanna point out this "journalist" from ScreenRant is a complete and total retard, as he doesn't seem to understand why the Texas-California has tanks and helicopters and "advanced military hardware". Does this fucking moron not realize that military hardware is kept in military bases and depots all over the country? Does he not know what the fuck the National Guard is? Does he think that the USA keeps all their guns and tanks and shit on a single building in the capital or some fucking nonsense like that?

I am expecting to see some extremely powerful retardation now. I was told this Director is br*tish, if so that would explain this complete and total failure to understand even basic elements of the USA as him being a smug euro faggot who takes pride in being ignorant about America and huffs his own farts about how much better Europe is.

On the Deus Ex wiki, many commenters are upset and crying about the fact that the wiki describes the NSF as a right wing movement, since one of the things that pushed them over the edge was a weapons ban. They comment things like, "The NSF literally calls UNATCO fascists! They have be radical left!" You know, cuz calling someone fascists isn't a thing that every group uses as an insult.
If you sneak up on certain NSF goons in the Statue of Liberty, two of them have a conversation where one (speaking with a Southern accent) shittalks their commander JoJo Fine for having tattoos and earrings, and specifically mentions he's from Alabama. You can also encounter an ex-NSF bum in Battery Park on the return visit there who makes it very clear that he's a Christian fanatic and still thinks UNATCO & the UN are appendages of Satan, in-between trying to sell you sniper rifle ammo (maybe JC not being a mech-aug kept him from immediately deducing that you're a UNATCO agent yourself). Maybe the organization's had to reach out to urban gangs like the one Fine leads to replenish their manpower after 20 years of fighting MJ12 and its various puppets, but I always thought it was very clear that its core membership remained a hard-right bunch inspired by the survivalist/militia types of the 90s & people like Bo Gritz (the sorts that the creators of DX would have been most likely to be familiar with back then).

Also wow, ^ that map which I can't quote right now for some reason. Looks legit based off the one spotted in the trailer.

So Texas-California coalition aside, we also somehow have Oregon & Washington on the same team as Wyoming, the Dakotas & Utah and South Carolina (the historical 'cockpit of secession' and a redder state than Georgia today) sitting out of the Florida-led Dixie bloc. This comes across as what you'd get if you asked ChatGPT for a 2ACW writeup, as made by a hack author who's also been pumped full of drugs and hit on the head with a wrench 10 times for good measure.

A24 is releasing the movie, so you that kino consoomers will be excited for this. Garland's wife is Mexican, so I'm guessing he added the Cali-Tex union as some sort of manifest destiny reconquista.

That is an interesting theory. That would also make a funny movie, tbh. I wonder who would lead that army, lol.

British people really should not be directing a movie that deals with America's political climate even if fictionalized. It would be one thing if they were a british immigrant who grew up in the country, but Alex Garland was born and raised British.

Shame too since I liked his science fiction movies, which honestly he should just stick too.

Maybe it's a parallel universe? Because Texas AND California joining in on something like this together, it has to be.

They're also right calling you a fascist because you're working in the interests of Bob Page and Versalife instead of actually policing terrorists.

You would even have to break it down further. Like Western Washington and Western Orgeon would bat for the same team, but Eastern Oregon and Eastern Washington would fuck off to join at least Idaho and probably Montana.

The entire premise that the battle lines follow state lines so cleanly is complete retardation. Unless that map is shown to be some sort of propaganda piece or massive simplification of the battle ground then dude already failed because he for some reason thinks borders are clean divides.

The more I think about this the more I am convinced this faggot has no idea what he is actually writing and directing.

It feels like propaganda to normalize the concept of a civil war, or scare chicks into voting dem. Props to them for making it so over the top and stupid it looks kinda fun.

The "What kind of american are you?" guy looks great The bad guys always seem to have more drip.

This is just more 2nd Civil War porn, like we saw during the Trump years, about how the real message is that it's liberals' moral duty to kill Trump supporters or anyone who may have been within 50 feet of someone wearing a MAGA hat in public, it's to help stir up the sort of people who thought not enough "insurrectionists" were killed by fat Captiol police officers during the Jan. 6 "revolt" that was worse than a dozen 9/11s according to these shrieky sort of people. The movie is being marketed as "ambiguously" as possible, but I think when people get into the theaters, they'll find it's a libfest that appeals to the people who think freedom of speech and freedom of association need to be banned because it's the only way to prevent the sort of Red State "Y'all-Qaeda" uprising they thought was going to occur sometime during 2016-2020.

I think it's pretty obvious why they make the premise of secession around a totally implausible Texas-California alliance.

If they made the premise about "Inland Red States vs Coastal Blue States" or "Rural Counties vs Urban Shitholes", it would make the goyim think too much about how it might actually be a cause worth emulating IRL.

But since they have wacky Texas-California alliance, it casts the film purely into the realm of near-future political thriller / disaster-porn, and the goyim won't walk away from the film with any dangerous thoughts.

>Euro faggot, huffs farts how Europe is better than muh USA
>England has stopped being part of the EU since 2020.
Well, takes one to know about being a failure and knowing basic things outside of Yankee land.

It will be two hours deep-throating journalists as the "real unbiased heroes", despite that historically journos incessantly lied and fabricated shit to appeal to their collegues, with the most famous example being the infamous Vietnam photo:

tl;dr: The man being executed is a soldier who wiped out an entire village (women and children included) and the changed to civilian gear to evade judgment. The journo knew the truth yet never confessed to it despite getting award for it and ruining the life of the guy doing the world a service and executing the criminal.
