I really dislike the use of dismissing elders and realize they should have listened to them, trans women do not have the same experiences in their transition that women have transitioning to adulthood, especially when so many troons dismiss their elders and yell for multiple tweets at a time how they proved their stupid moms and relatives wrong.

You can use man as a short form of mankind, but when talking about birthing capabilities, you need to use human, the species name, or the proper species name of Homo sapien. Recent medical discoveries have found that women aren't just "men lite", they have more complexities and more odds and ends going on that are different from their male counterparts. The symptoms of heart attacks in females is an easy example of such. The reduction to economic value and value of being able to have children is also silly, as it puts troons always in the "oppressed" category. Culturally, more than birth and child rearing defines woman, the more cynical can point to sex appeal as the value women have to entitled men, while ability to participate in discussion of topics relevant to a conversation is for less entitled ones. Being the financial managers of a household is how marketers view women: they have more power and worth the more capital they have, so young women are better for trends due to their lack of commitments and married/family women are HIGHLY valued by food, cleaning, household supply, and medical corporations (woman likely has more time or is in charge of taking kid to doctor's appointments or buying asprin for her and or husband while shopping) for their ecconomic spending power. Old ladies are sadly undervalued because retirement usually means losing capital for a lot of people. But I'm already off topic: the point is it's reductive and refuses to cover nuances on how women and really human kind interact with the world.

I'm curious what the cut off sentence was to say, but it doesn't matter. Ancient people did gender. Medieval people did gender. Renaissance people did gender. There's no ecconomic hold over, it's role carrying from survival days.

My story will be familiar to many; I spent my “first” lifetime focused on career, family, being a provider, all the while becoming an expert at suppressing my own sense of being “for the good of others.” With my “stage” character developed and “mask” firmly in place, I assumed that role which I had convinced myself was all that was accessible for me. But after 60 years I finally came to terms with that self-denial and started truly living.
Despite the challenges I’ve had in this first year of my “second” (or true first?) life, I’ve nevertheless experienced transcendent joy that I will cherish forever.
May each of us endeavor to make all our journeys a bit brighter every day!

65 and loving it here in New England​

Hi everyone!
I started HRT on my 64th birthday, more than 21 months ago, coming out publicly and finally living 110% as me 17 months ago.
I’ve never been happier and more comfortable with myself. My hair is long and gloriously purple , with blue and pink streaks, with blue tips! My nails are purple, I frequently wear purple, and I even wake up in a newly painted purple bedroom. Are you sensing a theme here? came with the HRT! I am always in a fashionable dress, even on those rare days when I’m not out and about. (I no longer own pants.) I have to rethink my wardrobe though; my newfound confidence, joy, passion for style (where did that come from?), and surprisingly successful diet means I’ve lost 90 pounds in the last 5 months — so I’m going to have to replace most of my clothes! I’ve moved out of the obese category to the upper edge of a healthy weight, with another 20 to go. There’s an amazing, incredible woman in my mirrors these days.

I'm 52, hrt for 2.5 years, bottom surgery back in September of this year. I have a 15 year old daughter ( she was 12 when I "came out"), she is 100% supportive. Women have two full chromosomes instead of one and a half; on the rare occasions that mitochondrial dna is passed on by the father, it's random fragments rather than the detailed blueprint that a mother gives her children; when a foetus is conceived, it is phenotypically female for the first two to three months.

Making a human baby is so fucking complicated that the mum needs an extra half chromosome to do it!
