Ya know, Gotham Knights as shit as it was, could at least be semi enjoyable in certain parts if you got it cheap and went in with the understanding it was it's own universe and doing its own thing.

As shitty as Jason looked, I genuinely enjoyed playing as him throughout the game. Gotham Knights was stupid, but it had just enough soul to have some fun playing it. And it treated Batman's death (both of them) with the proper kind of emotion.
This doesn't even have that, plus it will always have the label of "Conroy's last appearance as Batman, and they Joel Miller'ed him just for the cheap shock value"

Disrespecting legacy characters

Can anyone explain to me why people get upset over bad things happening to fictional characters especially in alternate universe side stories? I'm not even trying to be a dick, I legitimately cannot fathom getting mad over this because it's so easy to just pretend it doesn't exist if you don't like it and like nobody will even remember it in like a year.

I'm just surprised the way this game is in general:

I played the alpha and found the game pretty fun, despite the lack of content. It is trying to force the GAAS shit a bit too much and it gives me the feeling that it was originally just a single player game with co-op but whatever. I know i'll be in the minority by saying I found the story bits so far good (from the alpha, haven't seen any leaked stuff so far) and the characters entertaining. I'm not sure if connecting it to arkham was forced on them or not, I feel like it wasn't just because of how many arkham call backs there are in just the first few hours of the game but that again just makes it a strange decision.

Even if it will be forgotten for the shitty game it's going to be, it will ALWAYS be his last role, and a lot of people will never forget or forgive that

It's the Batman Who Laugh's origin story. He just killed the Joker for his latest atrocity, and got infected with uber-Joker-gas that is slowly changing him. He called Dick, Babs, Jason and Damien to the cave to kill them, and then goes on to give Clark a new brand of Kryptonite that forces him to kill his own family
It's some of the most edgy, grimdark shit i've seen, and it's barely entertaining

Because the animated movie "Assault On Arkham" is part of that continuity and it ended with Deadshot sniping a morbidly obese Amanda Waller. Not to mention the drastic redesign for King Shark.

It's understandable that people get upset when anything they are attached to gets pissed on, regardless of how funny it is in this case.

People can get emotionally invested in things (literally anything). You can obviously get too invested into something to the point your pores start secreting soy.

That said, if they are going to murder Batman in 4K, they shouldn't have done it just to insert their soydark comedy shit that everyone has been doing for a decade already.

Taking a gamble like that can have a great payoff, retiring something old and introducing something new that keeps the interest flowing. It's all about having good writing and being original, and capeshit usually has neither.

You find Tim Drake's corpse in the Batcave according to the leaked summary. For all we know, you'll find the rest there as well.
