TDS's cold opens are rough to say the least, and neither entrap a new audience or really showcase the best of Dick's "rants". BPITU worked (though as everyone else pointed out, some bits are dated) due to the structure and meta purpose that Maddox was autistically dedicated towards with the ranked list and voting. Its like a Saturday morning cartoon where each installment furthers the good guys cause and thwarts evil despite no continuity - even if it would just be Maddox bringing in topics fearmongered in The Atlantic and Dick bringing up poorly fitting pants or bad toilets.

The variety of topics and purpose also created a wacky diverse fanbase that made related groups really fun, even up to and during the lolsuit. But as the fanbase shrank and the show became more and more based around these shitty cold opening rants - so did the fanbase who became obsessed with repeating the same dunks on Maddox espoused in the show. Rekieta's related offspring groups are dead or divided on his fall of grace, Dick's are far more of a true believer club besides "approved clowns" like Clarke. I'm shocked how little people left are calling out the Eric July bit for being played out, and if its anyone its the same lines Maddax said about ISOM word for word. Ethics in independent comic books are what the salt-of-the-earth-truckers care about, remember everyone!

If a potential employer miraculously stumbles upon Maddox's article and sees your name included in a list the size of a phone book there's no way it would be taken seriously. I think because Dick has gone out of his way in recent years to become as unlikable as possible and always ensure he positions himself on the worst side of every event, (not to mention his irreverent dudebro schtick becoming more pathetic the older he gets,) it's easy to forget Maddox is still a petty, vindictive asshole.
