I'm not a burgernigger but I assume Joh would qualify for some kind of basic medical care that would at least let him see a doctor and get beetus meds? So he's either too stupid/lazy to take up his entitlements or he's lying about why his beetus is untreated. If the latter maybe he's banned from his local doctor's place for tard raging or he doesn't want to follow any steps or change his diet.

Not in Alabama. He doesn't qualify for Medicaid, which is government healthcare for poor people. He would need to move to another state.

My new favorite Pissa lore is her trying to convince us (/herself) that Joh is the reason she's getting gray hair. Do you think the women in her life have been dying their hair for decades and she literally has no clue that going gray happens at her age? Or is this her trying to hold on to being a young innocent woman and that she's "too young" to go gray (so it must be Joh's fault)?

Pissa's story is that she and Joh were living together and she was teaching Sunday school and the pastor told her that they couldn't have someone living in sin teaching so it was either get married or stop teaching. Granted Polly Pissy Pants has been noted, like most cows on this site, to exaggerate or outright lie in order to paint herself as the only victim. But even if we believe her about it, it's still fucking stupid to just marry someone you barely know so you can keep teaching Sunday school.
Living together but only dated 3 months? Maybe the pastor was trying to tell Polissa that they didn't want an idiot teaching at the church and she used it to trap herself a man... well, Joh.

She just a widdle uwu bby with such a hard life that she's prematurely gray. Won't someone rescue the poor princess? Woe!

Josh's options aren't just get Medicaid or Die, seems there are low-income health clinics near them and more in Florence. I don't know why he hasn't gone to one if he is truly wanting to get healthcare, even if there is a waitlist you wait. He looks like total shit so showing up in person could even him fast-tracked. Did he try but tardraged, or missed too many appointments?

But life is more fun if you blame everything wrong on other people and flop around helplessly, I'm sure.

Plus, aren't there cheap-ass marketplace plans if you're low-income? The deductibles/copays on those plans are probably exorbitant but some doctor's offices will bill you for that if you make an effort to pay a little here and there.

He has options but you're right - blaming everyone else is more fun.

Even though he can't get Medicaid you'd think he'd qualify for a cheap Obamacare plan. He's probably just too lazy to look into it. Somehow he manages to make every one of his problems worse.

Watching you all try and find solutions to the Campbell's problems is so endearing. It takes me back to a simpler time when Polly would read the thread, and post a callout video about how she tried all of the stuff you just said and the only solution to her husband's untreated diabetes is for you to pay for her to join an axe throwing league. It's like watching the learned helplessness experiments but the scientists also somehow taught one of the dogs to grift the welfare system, and the other dog occasionally challenged the lab assistants to a machete fight.

Polly is back safely nestled in meemaw's financial and housing womb so she won't bother learning any life skills, but Joh is going to need to grow up super fast if he wants to make it to another winter without losing some fingers or toes.

From what I remember, it's even better. Not only was it Sunday School, but she also married Joh because she thought living as an honest woman would let her teach Vacation Bible School on her own that summer. Didn't work out that way. So even though the actual wedding day was great according to Pissa, she was butthurt that she didn't reap the benefits she was promised by her church, such as her own VBS class and a wedding shower for her second marriage. Despite that the priest paid for her courthouse fees and even brought food to the party afterward IIRC.

The Obamacare enrollment period is open right now, yeah? I know Stride is a legit marketplace for that sort, as is Healthcare.gov. Far from perfect, but it's better than paying full bill on everything. Just a tip for anyone here that needs it. Because I know that advice is completely wasted on our gruesome twosome.

Not like it matters, as Polissa has complained before that she had to make important phone calls for Joh months after he was supposed to make them, and Joh outright stated that Polly was obligated to teach him how to drive because she was his wife. If she really loved him, she'd do whatever he needed to *succeed!* Even the pipe disassembly was a joint Robin-Joh effort. As soon as Robin fucked off and Joh chased off Tyler by cussing him out on Facebook, Operation Bano en La Casa was aborted. He ain't doing shit without someone holding his hand and maybe even doing all the work for him after he starts whining and chimping out.

Much like how it's not that Polissa can't but she won't, it's similar for Josh. He simply has enough drive to walk the walk for thirty seconds before it all goes to shit vs Pissa's ten.

He might have tried once. In my experience, those low income clinics have very long waiting lists. Joh doesn't strike me as patient enough to wait to be seen.

The idea that every American can get access to quality health care if they just fill out the right form is ignorant/ridiculous.

You cannot manage a serious, chronic condition by going to free health clinics. They are there to treat acute, nonlife threatening illnesses like sinus infections and are often barely able to do that.

Joh also wouldn’t be able to cover the monthly payment on an Obamacare, but even if he theoretically could the deductible would be too high for him to use any medical benefits.

It’s difficult to even book a doctors appointment if you don’t have the correct insurance and large healthcare systems will refuse to see anyone with an outstanding bill. There really aren’t kindly doctors who hang their shingles in small towns and will work with poor patients on payment options. Healthcare is run by monolith corporate structures who don’t give a fuck.

Low-income clinics I have been to (not Alabama but the South at least) do offer help with chronic disease, like diabetes, management. It is one of the first things they advertise as offering help for because it is unfortunately common and they get grants for it. Not the mobile trucks but actual facilities. It can suck. They often have NPs not MDs. It isn't the same as having a good insurance plan. Waitlists can be bad. It is not ideal, it can be a struggle, but they aren't all garbage facilities that can't manage a sinus infection.

Most free clinics do not offer those services. That’s just the reality. The kind of grants you’re talking about would be accessed through a department of public health, for which Alabama is constantly ranked at the bottom. Alabama ranks at or near the bottom for virtually every metric on public health and will refuse federal funding for public health access because STATES RIGHTS.

The shithole states I have used them in were mostly good, and those good ones had consistent follow-ups and were structured for chronic conditions... but Alabama was not among them and I don't have diabetes so I can't truly say. But if they are ranking near or at 50/50 worst then that is not a shock.

Throwback to a simpler time (8 months ago lmao)

Really varies by state. In my state, state insurance is accepted by most - or at least by most quality systems - and booking an appointment with a specialist is not onerous. It may be that severely advanced or complicated situations are harder, but in my observation, not really harder than for any patient, provided the provider accepts the insurance.

In my state, if you qualify for ~ medicaid, there is no or minimal premium, no copayment for most things, and no deductible.

Here "free clinics" aren't really a thing, because the state-supported program gets you into most everywhere.

I'll guess Arkansas or wherever tf these people live doesn't have the net my state does, but don't speak in generalities when state insurance is very definitely set by each state.

Diabetes is awful and even if Joh had the best access in the US he'd probably fuck it up because he's stupid and stubborn. As it is, he's probably got access to basic testing supplies and Walmart insulin. Walmart insulin works, but it's decades behind the Good Shit, he'd have to have planning and cooking skills we already know he doesn't have.

The dude can't hold down a random shit job where the expectations are "turn up on time and not visibly drunk/on drugs", there is no way he can manage his diabetes on the free care level.
