@StrawberryDouche, Yaba also addressed Belinda's comment in her own stream. She said something to the effect of there being plenty more where that came from, waiting for someone else from the community to "size up" enough to be the next death fat, or becoming the focus herself and repeating the Chantal Jr. comment.
@Ivan Daniloff, I've been thinking it's a confluence of factors (I know, big surprise): (1) the available market is shrinking (as everyone's noted, Chantal and Al are pretty dry, and there will always be new reactors); (2) there's no new lolcow to fill the gap; (3) I would imagine given the global economy, ad revenue is taking a hit (and will of course take a BIG hit in January regardless); (4) Sam and Yaba have spent a lot of money on high ticket items (personally, I'm not convinced they can afford everything); (5) ego. If Yaba really wanted to expand her market share, she'd target FFG rather than Belinda (not that I think this would work). And maybe finally, it's interesting that despite Yaba's time on Youtube, she's remained a very small channel relative to others (like FFG).
Yaba got very lucky with this platform. She tried other communities (e.g., Slatons, ALR, Trisha Paytas, etc.) and never seemed to find much of an audience. Sh wa's "gifted" Chantal in the sense that Chantal was already well-established, the lore was laid out, and (most importantly) Chantal targeted Yaba, and Yaba just reacted well to Chantal. Lightning is not going to strike twice, and no one from the community seems to have had any luck shifting attention to someone else (apart from their infighting, which probably doesn't bring in new viewers so much as reshuffles the deck of available viewers).
Belinda's question may not have been nice, but it's worth considering. Will Yaba's channel remain profitable enough to see her kids through high school? Her daughter's in elementary school, right?
