To be fair this is likly not 100% bullshit. If your war chest is fairly small to begin with it makes sense to wait until you see what areas are competitive for you then blitz ads in those specific areas.

This will be a double post but something I think might be interesting. We actually can pretty well math out how someone will vote. There are three factors that for purpose of simplicity we can say are weighted 4, 2, and 1. Sot he first criteria is multiplied by 4, the second 2, and the third taken as is. Those criteria are Recognizability, Respect, and Relation.

Recognizability is how well known someone is, how well known their platform is, etc. The more you feel you know a candidate, the more likely you are to vote for them. This is why Clinton bragged about having a 100% ratio of being known.

Respect is how much you feel they would do a good job at being president. how effective do you believe they will be.

Relation then is how much you personally like the candidate. How much you feel they are a good person.

Now, the important things to keep in mind when comparing two candidates is first that the value for this starts at 0 and second that the last two have an equal scale in negative value.

So, if I were to make a quiz for this I would first ask "How well on a scale of 0-10 would you say you know the candidate, and their policy platforms", get that number, and multiply it by 4. I would then ask four questions, a binary "do you like/dislike their skills/personality" and then a "How much on a scale of 0-10" and then multiple the answer by 2 for the respectability one. If they answered positively, the number is added to the total, and negatively subtracted.

From there one last question would be asked, seeking to know on a scale from Only Democrat to Only Republican with gradients of Likely, Lean, and Neutral. where would you say you land. If labeled as Neutral, the numbers stand as is. If Lean, Likely, or Only then apply a 33, 66, and 100% multiple to the side they support and against the side you oppose.

So, if Joe Schmo is looking at candidates Shit Sandwich (R) and Giant Douche (D), and he answers that for Sandwich he has an 8 in Recognizability, a 6 in Respectability and a 4 in Relation, where as Douche has a 4 in Recognizability, 6 in Respectability, and 8 in Relation, but that he is a Likely D voter we know Douche would get his vote because :

Shit Sandwich (R)
8 x 4 = 32
6 x 2 = 12
4 x 1 = 4
Total = 48

Giant Douche (D)
4 x 4 = 16
6 x 2 = 12
8 x 1 = 8
Total = 36

Likely D = R Down 66% & D Up 66%
R = 48 x 0.66 = 28.8
D = 36 x 1.66 = 59.76
R28.8 < D59.76, Democrat gets Vote

While the math is quite simple really, and it is possible to get a far more precise version, this simple math really does tell an individual person's vote and the weighting is universal. And it is applicable without the lean within primaries.

I disagree, South Vietnam was constantly at a razor's edge and couldn't manage itself without constant US babysitting to a degree that made it unnacceptable and unsustainable even compare to the South Korea counterpart that the US was trying to emulate there. The French administration and fuck ups made this happen. One good example is that the French didn't properly inform the US about the nature, doctrine, supplies and other such information on their local colonial troops of native Vietnamese who had served with them. There were entire villages which were quite peaceful and friendly to western interests that got shoved into the hands of the Viet Cong because of this as the US came around and saw a bunch of guns being stocked and assumed they were for the commies.

Also when it comes to fuck with Nixon's peace: That's nothing compared to the fact the US Government refused to honor Nixon's peace deal for the return of POWs (Just like France did, and they got their POWs back once they paid) because it required the US to pay ransom and they wouldn't agree to do it because "the USA does not lose wars" and so they left hundreds of men to die.
