Hamas says "dozens" (later clarified as 78) people were killed in one of the most deadly nights of airstrikes so far. But if 78 people was the median for this conflict that is roughly 80 days old, surely that's around 6000 dead, not the 50,000 currently claimed?

They don't really care if the thing they said yesterday is remotely consistent with the thing they say today. They know that their real audience are zoned-out TikTok zoomers who can't keep anything in their memory for longer than five minutes. A perfect audience for news of increasing chocolate rations and which nations we've always been at war with.

Canada announces temporary visas for people in Gaza with Canadian relatives​

People in the Gaza Strip who have Canadian relatives may apply for temporary visas to Canada, the country’s immigration minister said Thursday. However, the federal government cannot guarantee safe passage out of the besieged Palestinian territory.

Immigration Minister Marc Miller expects the program to be up and running by Jan. 9. Until now, the government has focused on getting 660 Canadians, permanent residents and their spouses and children out of Gaza.

Miller said the government will start accepting applications for people with extended family connections to Canada, including parents, grandparents, siblings and grandchildren.

He said people will be offered three-year visas if they meet eligibility and admissibility criteria.

Miller said he’s not sure how many people will be able to come to Canada under the program, but he expects the number will be in the hundreds.

Miller said it’s been difficult to get Canadians out of Gaza. “We have limited ability,” he said.

Whenever I hear about “foreigners” who are stuck in Gaza, I wonder why?
Why are they in Gaza? I have been told for years that it is an open aired prison and that nobody is allowed to leave.
And yet, we see this story time again and again.
A lot of “Swedes” are stuck there, but they are all from Palestine from the start and got refugee status in Sweden.
So why the fuck are they back there?
It is a scam, that it is.

I just passed a bilboard in Fairfield, CA that said, "Hamas is your problem, too." It's good to see foreign governments buying ad space to influence US policy and it not be called Russian interference for a change.
