Someone needs a second computer, or at least to learn how to dual boot.
Or a functioning distro. Might as well make one with OBS (for MATI), Tor Browser, YT-DLP, ffmpeg (for archiving) and 10 copies of Keffals's fart porn.Someone needs a second computer, or at least to learn how to dual boot.
Lol been there.
YesAnyone here installed Linux on a laptop?
It's possible your WiFi/Bluetooth won't work right, but you should try it. Don't expect too much from things like trackpads and fingerprint readers though. In the last 10 years, trackpads mostly work, but sometimes not that well. In the last couple years some webcams don't work, due to weird Microsoft encryption stuff.I've heard a lot of mixed things
Rookie mistake, you don't use Arch unless you are a fatass
>Not using an Arch-Based distro and instead using basic Arch Linux with SystemD
I have just switched mine from Garuda (as I needed to reinstall and it just wouldn’t work) to EndeavourOS. Linux has breathed new life into the machine but I don’t use Bluetooth or wireless much.Anyone here installed Linux on a laptop? I wanna give it a shot on my secondary work machine as it's getting a bit too slow for bloaty windows.
I've heard a lot of mixed things from spurgy Reddit threads.
I've got a lightweight Ubuntu (Lubuntu) installed on a 2005 Dell Inspiron 9300 (originally made for WinXP Professional). Tested it about a week or two ago and the darn thing still works greatAnyone here installed Linux on a laptop?
I'd advise trying Linux Mint. It has the best support so you'll have the best odds of getting it working perfectly.Anyone here installed Linux on a laptop? I wanna give it a shot on my secondary work machine as it's getting a bit too slow for bloaty windows.

I'm sorry to break it to you but arch is easiest to install in a VMI'd advise trying Linux Mint. It has the best support so you'll have the best odds of getting it working perfectly.
I still haven't been successful in getting Arch Linux up and running, but I've concluded that it's partly because Arch hates virtual machines
If you can't install arch without using install scripts it's just going to cause headaches down the road, rolling releases will break something and if you don't know how to diagnose what broke something and how to fix it you are going to have a bad time. Arch is a great distro if you know what you are doing, not so much if you don't.EndeavorOS is an easy way to get arch going if thats what you want. I switched to it from Xubuntu
Also take two minutes to setup Timeshift
I've yet to see any evidence of that statement being trueI'm sorry to break it to you but arch is easiest to install in a VM
Dunno I just unfucked an install for someone who had no issue installing it arch in a vm but had issues on real hardwareI've yet to see any evidence of that statement being true
