So I've enjoyed pretty much the whole season, especially with them crushing tj last night. The most wild thing about this show is how fickle the audience is. After cole left people were harping on about how it was the end of the show but it's seemed to be night after night of shit going down. Then there's things like people still competing that the polls meaning nothing lol. At this point it feels like some folks are being willfully stupid just to whine
Personally I do not think the show has fully recovered to its original content producing levels of the first ten days, but it’s been interesting to watch the crew try and recover. It’s clear that with so many original contestants leaving they had to pump the show with many new freeloaders, some of which I feel lack quality.
The biggest thing lacking at the moment is still a main character. They’ve been trying to make TJ that, but it’s been a little difficult since the remaining contestants refuse to act on their own. Many of the content now feels very basic. When I say basic I don’t mean bad necessarily. I mean something happens, we laugh/cry/cringe, then we move on and never really mention it again. I feel like a lot of the content being produced now is just less memorable overall, similar to some of the stuff that happened during the camping arc of the first season.
Sam has been more involved lately for the obvious reason of fish not being able to act without a guiding force as of right now, which has been a smart move on production’s part. Everytime Sam isn’t in the house it does feel kind of dead, so he’s been made into kind of a pseudofreeloader. That’s not a bad thing either, although I do kind of miss when the fish viewed him as Goldstriker rather than Sam.
What I am interested in is seeing how TJ moves forward. Last night he was given an ultimatum, stop being a pussy and make an actual choice or get kicked off the show. Except in doing that TJ’s main driving force to do anything (besides production) was kicked in the process. I’m worried that he will enter a mode where he is unmotivated to do anything. Hopefully I am proven wrong.
Overall I would say the season has been recovering and is kind of in shock therapy. Everything is on lockdown and being guided in some way to make sure nothing gets fucked up so we avoid experiencing another content drought. There will probably be a continuous flow of freeloaders and the fish will be encouraged to stay while the crew keeps throwing potential plot lines at a wall to see what sticks. The first ten days burned so hot that the show is experiencing a bit of a burn out, but it is recovering. Thats my opinion anyway.
Edit: just so I sound less like a complaining faggot I really enjoyed the TJ elimination and thought it was brilliant content. Very impressed that they pulled it off with such a mid contestant. I really hope they keep stuff like that up.
