I have never rewatched the film, but was the First Order even defeated in TROS? Didn't they just defeat the Sith Eternals and their fleet of vintage star destroyers with miniaturised death star weapons?

There’s a montage at the end showing Star Destroyers exploding over various planets such as the Moon of Endor and Bespin.

Additional material states that the Battle of Exegol inspired people throughout the galaxy to rise up and defeat the First Order, according to Wookiepedia.

So they are defeated, which means Disney has to create a new villain faction or devise some reason for why the Empire should still be the villains. We know how lazy Disney is so they will have the Empire around but that still leaves who the villain will be.

Are they going to steal Lumiya, Daala, Isard, or Soontir Fel? Is Filoni going to sneak Gideon and Grogu in as a new Emperor and Yoda, respectively?

You know what? They might even pull out Trioculus as an another clone of Palpatine. If they do, they better include Grand Moff Hissa and the Moffship!

They're just going to remake ANH instead. Genderswap and racebend Luke into Shanesha Skywalker, who dindu nuffin and who had to rescue Obi-Wan Kenobi (white supremacist) from the Empire and eventually blow up the Death Star by herself.

The funniest part about all of this is the way they make it sound like Kathleen Kennedy accomplished fucking nothing. Which is true, but that's not what I'm talking about here. Just like they pretend we haven't already had strong female leads like Ripley or Sarah Connor, they're now pretending Kathy and the whole "force is female" thing didn't already happen.

The only shocking thing about this to me is that I honestly expected them to take at least a little bit longer to reach this point.

Let's think this through some more. The director is not saying they have a great idea, just that it's Star Wars done by a woman. Points more to the idea of rehashing with a woman's take on it.

They can't create a man worthy of Rey. She'll be impregnated by the force like Shmi was. It'll be kind of hand waved, like it's a cycle. As it's not biological her kid doesn't need to be white. Of course female. This is also how they will claim her child is a legitimate Skywalker.

As no original ideas, they'll go back to what Snoke was meant to be. A non Sith dark force user that was kept at bay because of Palpatine. Or something to that effect. They'll then give the new chosen a mix of Luke and Anakin's arc but they don't fall. They'll also be lame and gay.

I've come to the conclusion that something is going on behind the scenes of Star Wars. I think someone wants to intentionally kill it...or kill Disney and that's why they are creating boy office bomb after boy office bomb. That's why they are hiriring hacks and activists as directors. Normally the goal of companies is to earn money...but it seems like Disney doesn't want to do it anymore. They don't even care about their shareholders who are screaming at them to stop that shit. They are losing money left and right an show no signs of correcting their course.

The question is who wants to ruin Disney and why. What's the end goal here?

It's probably just incompetence.

I wonder if Lucasfilm has some incentive to look like it's developing projects, even though they know they'll never be made. Maybe there's some way Disney shifts profits and losses around for tax reasons. So Lucasfilm needs to seem like it's more active than it is. They can point to what is in development for the shareholders. As they are never going to be real things, they just get indulgent with all their virtue signally activism. Maybe just developing and incompetent.

I just don't get why no one can step in and tell them to make something fans want.


Then there's the actual productive parts of Lucasfilm that make the TV stuff. Yet impotence and mismanagement is ruining that. Maybe the activist virtue signally development aspect is influencing the actual productive stuff?

No one would kill Star Wars. Even if scaled back, nothing in production. It's still a money-making machine.

The only possible way people would try and "kill" Star Wars would be to remake it, but that in and of itself is impossible. Everything is too iconic to be reinvented.

I think they simply have no other option and that is why this movie is is going forward toward inevitable disaster. Disney has a calendar going 5-10 years into the future and it must be filled out with new film releases even if there is no good story idea. I think in their minds this movie is their best option because

-They cant admit defeat on the ST which was supposed to be Iger and Kennedy's legacy. The Rey movie plot is probably going to fix as many of the criticism as they can to make the ST look better in retrospect.
-Daisy was probably cheap to get
-Moving forward into a generic Jedi training plot lets them basically ignore most lore. I think there is a decent chance the movie will again take place on the outer rim and probably barely address the state of the galaxy.
- Rey's Jedi class will probably be full of characters that they can try to spinoff into solo movies ala marvel.

Note the director for this specializes in documentaries highlighting how awful women have it in the fundamentalist Islamic world. She has never actually made a movie before. Also reminder Kennedy will want to make it about chicks and make it lame and gay, and Dave will want his fanfic characters of choice to be in it. Disney has really popped the balloon with Star Wars, and anything they do unless it’s pure fan service is liable to enrage the fan base or simply be a flop.
