Valve introduces Steam Deck

Also every test when it comes to low power use blows the competition out of the water.

We're basically back to the Game Boy vs. Gear issue, where the Game Gear was more powerful but needed a lithium mine to run.
I was going to the same comparison. Valve was incredibly smart with the trade-offs they made.

I also don't think they get enough credit for how good th power management features are in steamOS. I can set per-game profiles for screen refresh rate, max TDP and GPU clock.

You're going to need fucking oven mitts to play this thing.

Seriously, it's been 2 fucking years and every single form factor released since the Steam Deck dropped has only served as an advertisement for the Steam Deck. Valve comes swinging out of the gate and their "minor refresh" has some actually noticeable improvements. Meanwhile, every other gaming company can't keep wearing their sphincter as a bowtie as their devices run hotter than a smartphone running Google Maps

And unlike the other competitors, this one is using a brand new INTEL SoC

This is leaked information so take it with a grain of salt spec wise, but if true this thing is a monster.

That doesn't answer my question.

"Will this have better graphics then the Z1?"
"Well it has a CPU and a GPU so it's like a Z1"
I don't know how they compare, just giving you more details. I would expect it to be similar.

Interesting, my first reaction was "oh its Intel so the iGPU will be shit" but looks like the new Arc one is competitive with AMD and in some cases beats out the 780M. Though this is a plugged in laptop with possibly a better heat sink than a handheld will have.

Remains to be seen how well it does on a battery powered handheld. Sure it looks good but if it chews up your battery in an hour and fries your micro SD card because of overheating then its completely worthless in a handheld gaming device.

It literally lists 8 Xe cores, which is the exact same configuration as the A380 GPU, albeit without dedicated VRAM and a lower power allotment. If you actually looked at any benchmark ,every indication points to it being above the 780M, the current best iGPU offering from AMD.

If the final product costs as much as Asus/Lenovo's offering AND offers better battery and performance compared to these, it might be a worthwhile competitor to Valve's hardware.

I don't have a source to back it up, but some internet comments are saying that the BASE wattage from the leaks is going to be 29W. I am really curious about how this thing is going to be priced and how big the battery will be.

That per game power profile feature wasn't there on release though. It's a great feature Valve put out as the Deck matures though. Sweet spot has been 40fps in AAA games. I can typically get at least 2 hours on demanding games with low to medium graphics, FSR, and 40fps cap.

I like how it keeps tooting its horn about the battery, but can't really give exact details about the stuff that affects battery life.
They're retarded for even doing that. They jacking off over a 53whr battery when the DeckOLED has a 50whr.

Also lol at advertising an 'IPS-Level' screen. I'll put money down it's a TN panel.

I can guarantee that all of the Intel fanboys are now soying out over this Handheld, one in particular over at Videocardz: Screenshot_20240109-140542.pngScreenshot_20240109-140635.png
