Most autistic thing you've purchased lately - c'mon feel the cringe

I've bought some tiny harnesses with tiny leashes so I can take my rats for walks like tiny dogs.
Absolutely adorable but can you convince multiple rats to all go the same direction? What if they all climb up into a tree and you're below, holding their leashes like you have a handful of balloons stuck in the branches?

This sounds great.

I've got a Blacksmiths forge blower made in 1963, made in the USSR not as an emergency supply or reserve bit of kid it was for the Horse an Donkey trains they still used as the backbone of there non rail supply network (an still do to an extent) mine arrived in it's original factory cosmoline an sat at the bottom of a old mine used as a stock pile

That sounds rad as fuck to be honest.

Interestingly enough, a lot of the antique USSR stuff is being dumped from Ukraine right now (for obvious reasons one can assume,) and a lot of it is CHEAP.

I can't own a pistol as I'm a britfag, though I've seen some gnarly as fuck leather WW2 era holsters for sale.
Earmuffs to wear with my flat cap because puffball hats keep sliding off my giant noggin and wearing a hood limits my field of view on the scooter too much. I had to fucking order them online because the only ones available in retail are either pink or have cat ears attached to them.
Are you British? I've only EVER seen British people wearing flatcaps, with the exception of one well-off Japanese guy I once knew who liked them too.

I was always partial to 'newsboy' caps myself, but did own a few flats. Don't wear them much these days, pretty much only when I a wear or suit or some other semi/formal occasion.

Idk why that multi-quoted as I don't have anything there.

I used an Amazon gift card I got for Christmas to get a Rasberry Pi Compute Module 4. I had an Orange Pi Compute Module and a carrier board, but I was disappointed in its performance. I want to see if the RPi4 Module performs better on the same board. Well, I'm still waiting for it to get here.

I'm going to try to train them to go one at a time, at least initially, and then see what happens.

I'm in an awkward position with my current vermin; up until I got three sisters halfway through last year, the mischief as a whole were very chill homebodies and were inclined to stay home for the most part. I could leave the cage wide open for days on end, occasionally one would climb to the top of the cage to have a sniff around, before putting herself back to bed. I became very lazy in freeroaming them because they weren't interested. The new girls are... well, they're normal young does who want to explore and chew and pee on all the things, so I'm now scrambling to find ways to keep them entertained and away from destroying everything I own. The last few years of extremely laid back girls have made me mentally flabby and unprepared to deal with the miniature cyclones that are female domestic rats. So I'm having to pour a fair amount of money and effort into them. I've become so lazy and complacent that it's hard getting things moving again.

I know it is a gimmick piece, I know the CD is merely 32 minutes long; but I don't want to pass up anything by the Arditti Quartet, and it only costed a little more than a cup of McD's coffee.

It is also autographed by three of the members. The correction is right: the second violin in this recording was indeed Graeme Jennings.

Is it good listening? Better than I expected! Apart from the helicopter sound, the quartet plays mainly tremolos and glissandos -- but what tremolos and glissandos! Listening to the playing of such microscopically precise musicians is pleasure enough of its own.

Dug out my newsboy out of my closet a few days back after not wearing it for a couple years. It's so cold this week I have to have at least something on my head but I hate beanies and the newsboy only looks right when I have long hair like I do now.

Just bought a server grade HDD, partly with a gift card I got for Christmas, all for less than 70 when you factor that in. I REALLY hate hard drive crashes. Might as well buy a tank.
Wow I didn't even know there were levels beyond Enterprise Red

I've twice tried to purchase a particular Kuromi themed bit of plastic crap for my desk in the past four weeks. Both times the seller ended up contacting me and saying that this particular bit plastic crap is out of stock. There are at least a dozen sellers advertising the thing in pictures, but none of them actually has it. Instead every single one of them is trying to push the equivalent My Melody themed piece of plastic crap. I even went to a bricks and mortar store for the bloody thing. Huge stack of My Melody, a couple Cinnamoroll, no Kuromi.

This particular bit of plastic crap is an affordable, mass produced pen holder. I'm honestly wondering if the Sanrio factories accidentally made My Melody holders instead of the Kuromi ones, creating both a product glut and a massive order backlog.

I've made a third attempt to order the thing online through another website. I'm honestly expecting to get the My Melody design instead, but as both an autist and an obsessive fuck who doesn't know how to back the fuck down, I feel I must do this.

It's extremely aggravating. I have a long term plan of how I want my desk and stationery hoard to look and function, and after this pencil holder, I'll only need several small stacking drawers and then everything will be complete. I won't be able to afford the drawers for a while yet, so I'm trying to get the pencil holder in the meantime.

I also got wood glue and putty because I'm determined to finally finish a set of drawers that I started years ago. We'll see. My biggest problem (aside from not having a workshop or shed space to comfortably work on it) is that I like everything about wood working except sanding, which I absolutely loathe and would rather experience death in any form than do.

Well, I finally got them....

Sharkskin cowboy boots 🦈

They're black but due to the nature of the skin, it's more of a black and grey pattern. Really cool leather and they're basically scuff proof.

Also, they're Anderson Bean so they have two different fits. Keep the fabric and rubber insoles in for a snugger and squishy underfoot feel or take it out and have the classic leather foot bed with a bit more room.

Super cool

Getting older and I've been trying to get out ahead of some genetic shit by applying prevention > cure to vitamins and supplements in the present day. Almost everything I've bought in the last few months of trying to sort snake oil from beneficial vitamins when it comes to longevity and cognitive enhancement could qualify for autistic as shit purchases, but the end result is that my kitchen counter looks like a geriatric bodybuilder lives here and it started to drive me crazy looking at it.

I have tried and failed so many times to use those am/pm/day of week organizers, I don't like throwing everything in a bin in the bottom cupboard and digging for what I want each time I get a snack and remember I should take something with food, and if I organize all the shit that's relevant in a cupboard either I'll forget to take it or someone else I live with is going to fuck it all up looking for something specific. And then I'll tardrage trying to find fish oil or something.

So I found this thing, bought a couple, put vitamins in one and stuff everyone goes looking for like ibuprofen and melatonin in the other, and now my counter looks like a well-organized geriatric bodybuilder lives here instead of a clusterfuck. I'm actually pretty satisfied with it.

Is it the way that the super-fine sawdust feels on your hands, which are also being slightly abraded in the process of sanding?

I started disposable gloves when sanding and it made it much more pleasant; I was trying to protect my dermatitis hands, but ended up just much more comfortable in general.

In light of freezing temperatures and heavy snow followed by it melting during the day and then again freezing overnight I got myself a pair of massive, insulated wellingtons. They make me look even more like a criminal, but I don't give a shit. They're warm, comfy, and I can walk on ice like it wasn't even there.

I don't like the sawdust at all. I wear leather gloves while I'm sanding, but the dust makes me itch unbearably pretty much everywhere. I can cope with this, however. The main issue is that I'm asthmatic and since dust is a trigger, I have to wear a mask even if all I'm doing is a light rub over. Then the feeling of restriction on my breathing from the mask makes me nervous, which is bad enough, but the weight and feeling of the mask touching my face is a sensory nightmare. During covid mask mandates I ended up buying a real silk mask because even cotton masks were too much.

I'm honestly considering getting a rubber face mask with filter cartridges. They are much heavier than a dust mask, but only the edges of the mask touch your face, the fitting is tight so they don't move, and they're made of smooth plastic/rubber that doesn't scrape. They are expensive though, and since I wouldn't be using mine much I'd worry about degradation or wee beasties making a home out of it.

The woodworking respirators I've seen (here) haven't been rubber. Probably due to that very concern for degradation, as well as latex allergies, they're made from flexible plastic. Invertebrates are a good reason to keep it in a zip-top storage bag, unless you mean the wee beasties that you're buying harnesses for, in which case it's probably like how my cat has taken one of the living room chairs.

You might keep an eye out on local second-hand sites; I suspect there are going to be people trying to move half-face respirators in the future, and all they'd take is a good clean and new filters.
