I think he's fully leaning into his quirky/weird persona in his videos.. This feels like the artier strain of drama kid autism.

Even the end transition where it shrinks to a black circle, gives the viewer the feeling of being Rohypnol'd, especially with the weird concoction of whatever the fuck that grenadine/cherry liqueur looking thing in the drink mix was...
Oh is that the joke? is it supposed to be cough syrup? is it a 'i knock myself out narcotically' video?

I really have no idea of the levels of self awareness we are operating around here..
the videos are so autisticaly focussed on the details of the actual job at hand, that its hard to get a feeling.
Wearing pearls with hardhat, leans pretty heavy though.

I think he is partly self-aware, though I don't really take this video as a joke, more of just him bragging that he has a record player and can mix drinks like a good '50s housewife should. If anything the joke is "yeah, I'm zoned out, but that's what you need sometimes." I agree with the Twin Peaks reference. He has a sense of humor, but it is very low-key and dependent on things going smoothly in his fantasy.

In other videos, he can definitely be wry about his hobby being unusual and it freaking people out (see the video where he is impersonating the "house inspector" who is tsk-ing at flaking siding - there's some intentional hyperbole there). I also think the "alligator moat" is a joke. He might really like to make a tower, but he was adding the bells-and-whistles to it to show how much weirder the tunnel could be.

I guess he's more intentionally whimsical than humorous. Like, he will joke about wanting an alligator moat and then gradually talk himself into thinking it's doable and fun. And anyone questioning him is taking it too srs and not enjoying life enough.

In his latest replies, he's losing his cool a bit and snapping at people for questioning him. He doesn't like realizing that some limitations are for reals important and not just people wanting to scold free spirits.

Counter argument: Let the professionals do their job because this tunnel thing is actually dangerous. I don't want anyone to actually get hurt or god forbid killed because of this thing. Dead bodies and permanent injuries aren't really funny, most of the time at least. Like if this guy actually did get killed in that hole then there would be less to laugh at right? Maybe he can bring the thing up to code or get a plot of land out in the middle of nowhere and continue that way?

It's a sad day when you have to get the governments "good boy" stamp of approval to dig a hole on your own property. Jokes aside it might start posing a danger to the troon and the neighbors if (when) the tunnel collapses. I'm interessted to see what will happen if they deem the tunnel illegal. I can't imagine it would be as simple as filing it back in with dirt. He's already moved a considerable amount of rock out of it.

I checked the 2003 - 2008 McDowell year books for Jacob Lorei. Nothing. The only Lorei was Brian who was a Junior in 2008. Normal looking kid and out of the age range anyway. On a whim I checked the 2005 Cathedral Prep Seniors and found two Lorei's. One maybe looks like him and has a very fitting Senior Quote. The other Lorei looks like he would shit post about Jacob.

I agree. I feel like the Govt. Agencies may do something fairly drastic like declare the whole plot of land to now be seismically unstable, the dwelling demolished, and no residential dwelling allowed to be built there ever again.
I can't see how they could make it safe again now with the amount of rock, dirt and water that has been removed.
I guess he'd have to pay to make it safe too, which at a minimum would be big fuck-off fencing around the property to stop kids and idiots from killing themselves.

Those Loreis are second or third cousins and the sons of Paul Lorei, a local photographer. He and a few of his kids also attended Gannon but I didn't see any evidence they're close to Jacob's family.

People are really comparing the two? They're like virtual opposites. The eel pit seems really weird and threatening at first, but then the guy immediately comes across as sociable and fun. This seemed fun at first, but the more I see of it the more I get weirded out.

It's Rooh Afza, which is sort of like a concentrated herbal/flower cordial which is used to make a cooling sherbet. He's picked it up in a Pakistani/Indian supermarket, it's often consumed during Ramadan at sunset. And he's added what looks to be orange bitters.

The fact that everything about this house and him feels weirdly mid 90s is making me feel like it's from a previously undiscovered episode of Twin Peaks.
