Plagued Consoomers / Consoomer Culture - Because if it has a recogniseable brand on it, I’d buy it!

from the start things are going wrong. Thoughts and prayers.
perhaps you joke, but i do feel like these "educated" folks, particularly the women, in positions of management, tend to be way dumber than most women i met working simpler more physical jobs

for the longest time it was presented as the other way round, factory and land work was the simpleminded work to which education and modern work was a step up, but i swear it's not true, it's like the high education system and office work world is actively UN-teaching people

I thought I read about Sephora kids in this thread, but I couldn't find anything with search, so apologies if this is old news.

Lately YouTube has been recommending me videos about children who are obsessed about expensive skincare they see on TikTok, Instagram etc. Stuff that they don't need and could be harmful for their skin, but it is something their favorite influencers use so naturally they must have it too. And when they go to shop them, being children they are, they play and mess with the testers there. There are many videos where they show what kind of mess these kids left behind and once you see one, you've seen them all. But this one caught my eye because I've watched some of her other videos about skincare. And I wanted to know why she has those patches on her face.

Of course the kids destroying testers and harassing other customers are bad for business, but I can't imagine this lady filming herself while blocking the stand from paying customers while she meddles with testers, making faces and having a panic attack and looking like a crazy lady who forgot to take off under eye patches that morning is much better if you ask the workers there.

so... why DOES she wear those patches?

I got annoyed with her and didn't watch the video to the very end, but I think she referred them as "sun patches" at one point so I think they are supposed to be somekind of extra protection from the sun for damaged skin or something.
oh, so it's a medical necessity?

eh, not a problem in my eyes, whatever
i'll watch the vid later and try and TLDW it for ya

I don't think it's anything medical, just skincare fanatic being skincare fanatic. Or maybe she's doing review about that product or something. But yeah, now I got reminder why I stopped watching her videos, something in the way she talks gets really annoying and I always just end it middle of video.

These days in modern corporate America, managers and executives are selected based on compliance, not work ethic, innovation, making deals, etc. It is therefore completely unsurprising that women chosen for how well they comply chase the latest consoomer trends. It’d be completely surprising if they had an independent thought, like how insane it is to spend a couple hundred bucks on a water bottle she’ll throw away in a few months because it no longer matches her wardrobe.

Someone actually found the entire story for how this shit went down:

It's nice to have the mystery solved of where Patient Zero came from. I knew it wasn't organic, it started off as an influencer affiliate marketing ploy from the start.

Women generally are also more likely to go with the flow because culturally that's how we're taught, even if they do initially make a fuss. So if you want someone who won't openly question too much, assert themselves, or if they do they won't say anything because they don't want to make their friend Susie in accounting upset, it's better to hire a woman. They'll just be more likely to put up with it longer in general.

I've met some absolutely cut throat, intelligent women in higher management (particularly sales) in my day, but general office staff and office staff management tend to be pretty basic bitches.

this tubby lady is the target demographic for the shit. Note also the hoarding of flavored syrups, that's another trend, though one that's been around a long time. yaas kween consoom
#watertok is fat white women convincing themselves that adding sugar and goyslop to their water is healthy
like just drink water

, Drunk Elephant
DE is so bad for kids skin. Its disturbing. Theres a trend of 10 year olds buying Drunk Elephant and other overpriced skincare products. Mind you we are talking elementary school kids buying high end stuff from Sephora. Okay maybe not high end but expensive. Its a combination of bright colors of the product, TikTok and Instagram, plus pushover parents. Kids used to play makeup with drug store products, now they want Yves St. Laurent eye cream thats $69 for 3/4 oz. *sigh*

In other news, Woman Arrested for Allegedly Stealing $2,500 of Stanley Drinking Cups (Archive) The cops put all the fuckin' water cups on the car like it was a drug bust.

Well I know by experience that a dumb manager is a "good manager" in most industries, at least in the bosses POV. As said before it's about compliance, not efficiency so you take the stupid "yes man" ones.

EDIT: The sephora problem is so first world middle class familiy problem it hurts lol

Theres something so nauseating to me about pouring tons of violently colored powers and syrups in your drink and claiming its healthy and 'water'. This is like going to Starbucks, ordering a milkshake and lying to everyone saying its just coffee. I can't believe I miss the days when it cool just to have a Fiji or Icelandic water bottle and not a liquid goyslop station with a consoomer cup.

Whatever happened to herbal teas and roast coffees?

americans when the water doesnt have added red 40, preservatives and artificial sweetener

I've met people who don't drink water, how the fuck can you not drink water. I'm honestly convinced most of the obesity epidemic is caused by people not drinking fucking water, look at how many liquid calories Americans consume.

They just don't want to cut the sugar. And herbal teas aren't sweet enough for them.

A company that specializes in grading trading cards decided to expand to manga. Barring from out of print stuff, most manga, especially popular series, are not in any danger of limited runs. Just read the damn things.
Don't most people pirate their anime and manga anyway?

Minor PL, but I have a coworker who is autistic. And every day, he buys 4-6 cokes and drinks 2-4 of them. I have no idea how he does it, cause even drinking two feels like overkill.
