TJ and Shinji discussed earlier about teaming up against Tay, and they couldn't figure out what they could do to break her besides sabotaging her during challenges. It looks like this challenge was designed to force them against Tay. Which I'm sure Tay won't be happy about, but at the end of the day, she's not going to suffer or quit because of this.

I think Shinji knows this and is worried Tay will retaliate on him since she can't really do shit to TJ now that it isn't allowed. Shinji knows he can't really do anything to Tay to rattle her, but she can mess with him. Obviously, I don't think Shinji has to actually worry about that since the crew won't actually let Tay fuck with him, especially now that he's wanting to walk. So basically we now have two coddled final contestants, TJ and Shinji.

What a shit show lol

I think at this point, the show is fucked (more than it already was) and they need to figure out what would be satisfying. All three of them have been through significant pain: Tay got the most hassling, Shinji got blinded, and TJ has broken ribs.

TJ can't fairly compete at this point, because he has to use a surrogate. Whether he wins or loses, it won't be because of his ability, it'll be because of the ability of his surrogate, and it won't be satisfying.

I think the most satisfying conclusion would be for TJ and Shinji to form a team, take out Tay, and then refuse to compete with each other and split the prize. For TJ, it would be a journey from lubecooch spaz kid to the "hero" for helping Shinji. For Shinji, it'll be him discovering that he's already who he wants to be, and not succumbing to production and fans trying to get him to become a villain. They also complement each other: TJ is incredibly emotionally resilient, but both physically and mentally retarded. Shinji could easily win anything physical or involving wits, but he's lacking willpower. Instead of a freeloader surrogate, TJ can use Shinji. Together, they can win over the cringe edgelord who's only edgy because she thinks that it's what will help her win.

Still a shitty ending, but I bet it's better that whatever actually happens.

Shinji being talked into staying in part by TJ was really sweet and a good, heartfelt moment. I think that Shinji almost leaving, contrary to what people might expect, actually has increased his chance of winning a lot. He just had his arc. Much earlier in the show, I recall him talking about being lazy, being bad at school, and giving up on things. The language barrier means it's harder to get a good sense of his personality, but it sounds like losing steam and lacking perseverance is something he has struggled with. This moment also cements TJ as the hero of the tank, and Tay as the villain. It will make an interesting and satisfying final 3 to watch compete, now that TJ and Shinji are teamed up.

I personally still want Tay to win, but I have to admit she makes a good tank villain, better than I expected her to. At this point, any one of them winning would feel satisfying, which is a good place for the show to be in because there's no "bad" ending. Without Shinji's struggle tonight, him winning would have been the bad ending, because it would have been boring and felt unearned.

Edit: In season 1, the final two did not have any unique dynamics between them. Letty and Josie mostly had left each other alone up until that point in the tank. I thought the Season 1 finale was very good, but there was unfortunately no personal tension between the two fish. I think that in this case, the emotional stakes will be higher, and that is a good thing. It may not be the most dramatic or entertaining finale (imagine Jimmy vs Tay or Jimmy vs TJ) but I predict it will be a good one. And the danger of a "Jimmy vs" ending is that the ending sucks if Jimmy wins, so it has to be rigged so he loses. In this case, they shouldn't, and hopefully don't, try to rig it, because it truly could go any way and still work with these 3 fish.

Overall i have to say this is a bad season, just in terms of how little people care about the fish post-game.
The highs have been higher than season one. But the lows have been much lower. The entertaining fish burnt out and left too soon. The fish that remained were dull. Freeloaders such as Dumgay, Greg and Oliver carried the season. They should just make Greg a fish and give him the money.

they said dont do anything physical to TJ, which is technically already a rule, they didnt say he couldnt be fucked with. also i think youre jumping the gun about them stopping tay from fucking with shinji. they effectively just gave him a pep talk. theyre definitely setting up a pseudo 2v1 with the money thing but thats just them trying to force a letty dynamic because tays the only villain candidate.

last season they ended with a comparatively fair competition and i think it looks like theyre trying to do the same thing again just with three people. i like the idea that the show ends in an actual competition.

Not really. Chris who hated Letty's guts at that point was for whatever retarded reason allowed to judge dozens of competitions during the cell 2 challenge and gave Josie a huge advantage.
while chris is always very biased i watched a lot of the cell and never thought there were any egregious decidions by him. i even remember him picking letty for a few i thought josie won. im an og vancemaxxer so i wasnt rooting for either.

i should and a qualifier that nothing in fishtank will ever be truly fair but they at least made an effort. either way i liked it.

Jet said specially not to mess with TJ. They don't want him being touched or anyone doing anything near him that will cause him to move and make the injury worse. They want him to rest and sit around like Trish. What exactly else is left for them to do to mess with TJ that isn't physical? If he was like Fatty, you could probably say something to piss him off, but TJ is not like that. He's not bright and the worst they could do (Bringing up Lubecooch) has already been done to him. Any insult Tay hurls at TJ, he will just take and not care. Tay really can't do anything to him that will cause him pain or discomfort because the crew want him to rest and heal as much as possible for the final challenge, she can't make his environment any worse than it already is, and mental stuff dosn't work anymore. So what can she really do to him?

As for Shinji, I just can't see the crew allowing Tay to mess with him the way they were with Fatty. Like I could see them saying it's okay at first, especially since they want Shinji to retaliate, but I can't see it lasting because even Shinji admitted that nothing he could do to Tay would work since she doesn't care. Shinji has been down for days and now he's wanting to leave, if Tay was allowed to fuck with Shinji as much as she did to Fatty then Shinji would end up quitting or being completely defeated by the final challenge.

Gonna to polite disagree with you on the last season, for one thing, the challenges from last season were unfair with Fatty judging going against Letty in the first part of the cell because he was pissed at her. For another thing, almost all of those challenges were ideas Sam sourced from Twatter on the fly, which is what Sam is currently doing again. It's funny to hear him tell Shinji that the final challenges will be better when they have no idea what they're doing yet. It's also going to be harder this time to pick challenges that are fair to all the fish and also something TJ can do. There's no way TJ's cracked ribs are going to be healed in 5 days.

Idk man, it's a shit show. I hope they will come up with a satisfying ending like last time, somehow.

this problem is inherent to fishtank. i would say its almost a core problem. the only outlet for fucking with people is pouring food everywhere. them stopping tay from touching him isnt whats causing the problem. i feel like i made a post before the season started suggesting that they need more options for retaliation built in.

as far as the shinji thing yeah thats a possibility but i still think youre just assuming its an inevitability.

you can feel however you want about the S1 finale im just saying i liked the premise and i think its what theyre going for again.

In defense of Shinji wanting to quit:
Am I wrong in thinking that in Japanese society, it's considered more honorable to quit than to continue to play a game you're losing?
The opposite actually. You lose face if you don't give it your all. Japanese love noble failures who knew they were doomed from the start but went ahead anyways.

I think it's more about preserving what money he has as well as the trauma of the "in-group" of the fish now becoming life and death enemies of each other. Japanese live and die by in-group out-group social dynamics.

Useless New Zelander getting to help TJ is almost absurdly massive as an advantage. Has he done anything of note at all this entire time? they should have forced TJ to work with Greg, it would be two guys with half a brain combining to form one person.

Like i established Shinji will make at least 50k from streaming this year if he bothers to actually do it so the money shouldn't go to him. especially because it will set a precedent that TTS will make sure every fucking season 3 contestant will know. TJ will spend all the money on booze just like the season 1 winner so again this would set a precedent and we can't let him win either. So that means Tay should win. Very few women have shaved their head for a prize as small as 50k, she also put in the work, people forget how much of the first half of the show she spent in the background not doing shit, but unlike the other two, once told to "do something/make some content" she took the initive. She got left in a room and shaved her head, tj got left in a room and hardly painted. Shinji has never done stuff out of impulse and is in Josie mode outside of competition.

Also Tay has the best story for what she will do with the money. 50k will go to helping her parents she loves so much, and helping her crocheting store. You give the money to TJ or Shinji it will just go to a horse pussy shaped fleshlight and a stepmom sex doll and subscriptions to the most degenerate websites imaginable. TJ isn't going to do anything but fap once he leaves the show.

Unless Sam is right by his side giving him a secret nickname of David Duke, he won't be able to get a girlfriend to suck his gorilla dick.

I've said I'm not a fan of the forced "positive character arc and development" thing, but I think there could have been something different and interesting from Tay. Her and Sam couldn't really come up with one for her, he told her maybe to take a leadership-type role more which didn't make sense and she didn't seem to understand what he meant or what that would entail, and did nothing about it anyway.

One of her (and Meg and Jimmy, Rest In Piss) first moments that caught my attention was when they had all ganged up on JC for stealing chips and her saying she hated snakes and snakey behavior. She has said that multiple times about different people. But throughout the show she has been, and recently gotten very, snakey herself. And when confronted about it, she usually doubles down denying it or blows it off. And I don't think that's like, "her villain arc, she's the villain this season!" or anything, I personally think that's kind of dumb. It's a bit annoying (or downright infuriating apparently?) for some people to watch on the show, but it isn't some real evil thing. She is an early 20-sonething year old "not like the other girls" bullimic NEET that is still hung up about being bullied in school, I think being a bit snakey is not too abnormal and she probably does really justify it it to herself in such a way that she doesn't see it or agree with it.

My point is that I think maybe Sam could have worked with that for her character development. And not to make her embrace it and be a ~villain~, since he has repeatedly said he wants a positive outcome and ending this season, but maybe to challenge herself. Build some confidence or healthy thinking long-term. Now I am not sure how interesting that would have made the show since people want a bad guy character doing bad guy things which I can understand... but it's not like it has been all that great to watch this time around anyway. Like a very watered down season one repeat.

And it is way too late to change course or implement anything like that anyway, but it was just something I noticed and thought about. For a different and less interesting but maybe more rewarding outcome given the final four contestants they got stuck with. I don't know. There was something to work with there but it also feels kind of shitty expecting one member of production to constantly keep trying to pull the fish out of their shells and into "JUST BE ENTERTAINING" by embracing their strengths or addressing their weaknesses. Tall order for one guy who seems to have basically checked out of the show at this point.

Yeah and it also doesn't help that every time fish find ways to mess with each other, the crew stop them or snitch.

I've been proven wrong before, it would be cool to see Shinji becoming a villain and go after Tay. I just don't have a lot of faith in it when he's already said more than once he doesn't want to do that. We'll see tho, a lot can change in 5 days.

I'm indifferent to it tbh. I think the idea is good in theory, and some of those challenges were really funny (Like seeing Fatty and Vin rolling around a tiny room), but I gotta admit it was also a struggle to watch since they kept running out of ideas and had to keep asking fans for help. Also, deep down I felt like the challenges didn't matter and they already picked the ending they wanted before hand.
For Tay, I don't think it could really work to focus on her being "snakey" because at the end of the day, it's a game that everyone's playing to win, and she's said as much. But they could have made her a positive arc about her self worth and approval seeking. Jet actually said something about it the other night. He said the way Tay talks about herself isn't good and that she's proven to be a good competitor, yet she talks about herself like she's a loser. Jet actually told her to start seeing herself in a better light (he said something like "You're at a level 6 but you talk and act like you're at level 2") but I don't think Tay has done anything with this advice.

Normally I'd never clip one of the girls in the bathroom since I find the whole thing disgusting, but Tay is wearing beach clothing in this clip so its fine. There has been a lot of discussion about her weight for weeks now, it seems like the protein shakes and decent eating the two week or three weeks has started to show results because Tay isn't fully skeletal any longer. She is still very much underweight -- but she isn't suffering from the skeletor condition she was when she entered the tank. She has been eating 3 solid meals a day and snacking on stuff in-between almost every day for a week or two now, plus the protein shakes. Hopefully she can put on another 10-15lbs and remain at that healthy weight.

Fishtank is a humilating and destructive experience for most that enter it, often times leaving worse than when they entered, but Tay seems to be rallying and defeating a lot of her personal demons while in it, I hope she fully beats her eating disorder and gets a better reflection of her self worth, because she really is a high value woman even if she believes she is a one out of ten. She may at times be cringe, soyjacking, and believes really stupid stuff, but this is due to her youth and I suspect she'll mellow out and be much wiser as she gets older. She is the one most stable of all of the fish that have come through and likely one with a decent future if she continues on this confident course she has been charting.

Because they do not hate each other? The fish have respect for each other for grinding through this retarded fucking show.
I'd want to blame jet but this falls on sam and jet. Still more inmates versus production. TJ could be such good content if fucked with properly. Totally wasted potential.

Also shinji, imagine inciting a panic attack like they got out of fatty.
A summer freakout is possible. production controls the entire environment

"Oh I'm not going to apologize, but I'll half apologize but still stand by what I said"
her highlight of her life was putting beads on some string for some bracelet. she really seems to be mentally at the level of the autistic guys that can't dress themselves. if she doesn't ever have a successful suicide attempt then she's just gonna have a few kids and make dey baby daddies rue the day.

Tay and TJ are in b3 discussing the challenge. TJ admitted him and Shinji have planned on voting for Tay. Tay is trying her best to get TJ to switch his vote to Shinji, citing that he has the most endorsements so they are both fucked. TTS is telling TJ don't trust her, she turned on you over the LubeCooch shit, etc.
