They treat fascism as if it came out of a vacuum.
Fascism was the ultimate combination, and the inevitable result, of: old school racism, nationalism, classism, traditionalist conservatism, eugenics, militarism AND socialism, unionism. Which is why they have to distance themselves from it as much as possible.

As Orwell wrote:
"It is impossible to define Fascism satisfactorily without making admissions which neither the Fascists themselves, nor the Conservatives, nor Socialists of any colour, are willing to make."

I would like to recommend this Youtube channel Rob Pirie.
Just learned about John Woolman from this video, very interesting person from a very interesting time. It's a stark contrast from the way people think today compared to how people thought back then, John is erudite, well written and acts on his values. He was one of the first Quaker abolitionists in America. He was once pressed into contracting a slave to his boss and it left a bad taste in his mouth, so in subsequent interactions in which people try to get him to will slaves to descendants, he openly refuses.

We like to think we're so much more morally fibrous than people in the past with our retrospective ivory tower, when most people alive today are openly entitled, narcissistic and degenerate, and I reckon the majority of people alive today would openly participate in the slave trade if they were just suddenly dropped into this time period.

He is also a great writer. Took a course on early American writers and while a lot of their writing is very wordy and sometimes hard to understand, it's all very great stuff. Really helps separate the midwits from intelligent people in terms of understanding and processing stuff.

If anyone is interested in where to start, read Thoreau's Civil Disobedience essay. He was also an abolitionist but argued that abolitionist states should secede from the Union if slavery was to continue, and a lot of what he wrote about is extremely relevant to current-year society. He's more well known than Woolman and a lot of others, but is a great starter to dip your toes into American literature.

Any time someone brings up slavery in that way, I bring up abortion.

Recommending Noj Rants for those interested in how history is told to others. He makes a lot of stuff relating to issues with Wikipedia and things wrong with historical articles on it such as elections and flags. There are also some videos on the channel about early 20th century Russian elections.

His video on the Austria-Hungary flag wars that ruined the mental images of millions when it came to A-H deserves a special shoutout:

Seen this guy pop up in the feed a few times. This vid seemed to me a decent intro to the utter insanity that was Cold War Italy, a land where every conspiracy was true at once and the most suspicious thing is a solved case.
He touches on it briefly but a bit of a dive into the paranoia of the times if I'm remembering this right: After the killing the Italian right blamed the KGB. The left said that was propaganda. It turned out to be, because the KGB was funding the Communist Party and the talks. It was the Czechs who funded the Red Brigade. So a Soviet client state armed a group of Italian Communists to stop what they thought was a fascist plot, only it was another, different Communist plot, and the Italian right blamed the Soviets for plotting to derail *their* talks, which turned out to be with the Soviets.

Spectacles’s videos are highly-polished and fun to watch (if it focuses on something not culture-war related) but he is very much an establishment/WEF shill who uses “protecting our democracy” unironically. He has videos on Orban’s Hungary “autocracy”, why beheading statues “is actually good”, Italy “returning to fascism”, and a really biased video on the Israeli court crisis (the “big thing” before Oct 7th happenings). He kind of hides his globohomo with videos saying Bill Clinton lead to the Iraq war and pointing out social media propaganda but he’s 100% a breadtuber with a decent PR team.

That's a shame. Shame also the war distracted everyone from the court thing. One of my favorite things on twitter was watching Euros/Americans wade into the story and realize Israel has no constitution, separation of powers, or even an effective third branch. They set up a parliament and supreme court, called it a day and filled the gaps with lawyers for 70 years and shockingly their country doesn't work.

Wait the CIA wasn't involved in this glow-op at all?

It was really eye opening for me to see how convuluted and byzantine the Israeli government really is. It feels like it was developed that way intentionally to muddy the waters.

Got a good feeling the reason this fact is suppressed is because it blows a massive hole in the 'defending the only democracy in the middle east' statement.

Not this particular one.

I actually think it's because most of the West assumes because we figured it out, the rest of the world took what works from us and just tweaked it. The US Constitution has been around 200 years, Israel has only been around since the forties. There's no way Israel kicked the 'constitution' can down the road for generations and never implemented a means of redress between the 2(two) branches, right? Like they had 150 years of case law to look at and realize how useful having clear distinctions is and then just didn't. Very on brand for Jews to just leave it up to lawyers though.
