I would theoretically agree with you, but webtoons seem to be doing fine.
Some of the biggest crowdfunders are for printed collected editions of webtoon content.

However, the webtoons are likely being funded by Gen Z or older.
I have yet to see a Gen Alfa walk around with a comic in his/her hands.
Unless you call the state-mandated porn they teach in schools these days "comics".

Strange thought, but hear me out please.
Comics are slowly becoming obsolete as a whole. As in they are facing extinction.
How many Gen Alfa have the focus and mental capability necessary to read a comic?
Why would they spend money on some pictures when they can get videos on social media and interactive content in the form of video games for free (mostly)?

American superhero comics are becoming obsolete.

But Scholastic's comics for kids (like Dog Man) and Manga are still going strong. The American companies like Marvel and DC today just can't create anything new that appeals to an audience. They were incapable of making appealing products out of characters that were at the forefront of popular culture due to the movies.

The problem isn't really that comics are becoming obsolete. The problem is cultural disfunction in the United States such that we don't have a creative class anymore than can create or adapt appealing things. Even if they massively and financially fail, they just double down doing the same thing and tell the audience how wrong they are for not supporting it.

And the creators in comicsgate are part of the same problem. Comicsgate has not created a single interest or appealing comic. In fact, all they have generally done is reproduce bland mainstream comics at several times the price.

Short term this has been very profitable, but the damage Ethan has caused to the Brand Comicsgate, and his all crap comics is going to be devastatingly laughable. At least 1/3 of Ethan's viewers are FNT Rippa fans seeth watching.

Looks like viewers on last nights show are down a few thousand, people get tired of a 50 year old retired comic artist sperg about youtubers for 5 hours every night.

I certainly agree he's losing it, but it's actually impressive the can still manage to pull in $1,700 with the equivalent of "Old Man Yells at Cloud."

By way of comparison, Rekieta made under $200 last night (Rumble and YT figures combined).

It's honestly impressive, in a gross and depressing sort of way. That he's gonna piss that all away because he can't contain his ego is funny though.

Everyone and their mother are reading manga, for better or worse. It just has a solid entry even for complete newcomer and has the best advertising: anime (and tits). When a decent anime hits for a decent series the sales skyrocket (eg.: Demon Slayer). People are perfectly willing to read a comic book it's just the nips have better ways to advertise them and they didn't piss away any good will towards their costumers.

For all his "pro consumer" talk, EVS has always been more about making sure established professionals get the recognition they, himself included, "deserve". That is, of course, assuming they properly toe the party line.

I hear where you're coming from, but the fact of the matter is that comics are HUGELY popular right now... it's just that they're Japanese comics. Manga and Anime are EVERYWHERE right now - it's hard to turn your head and not see it - so it's not comics as a medium that's dying; it's American comics that are being strangled to death by cultural vandals and SJWs.
