Sobe when it was still in the glass bottle.

At some point they switched to a plastic bottle reminiscent of the original and then to worse plastic bottle that looked like the vitamin water bottle but they were never the same. I remember these mostly as a kid and kind of forgot about them when my family moved. I kept some of the bottles with cool graphics around on the window sill.

Gas stations and the like used to have a million different kinds of drink but now everything is the same dozen sugar waters. I can't even find the irish blend monster anymore. The only place I've seen that still has it I saw six hours away while on a business trip.
I used to remember these during my freshman year of high school. This shit takes me back, along with playing CoD: WaW and Skate 2 on my recently purchased PS3.

Weird, it tasted just like pepsi to me. But clear.

I'm thinking the taste issue might be psychosomatic. Some people taste citrus or some other flavor because they don't associate clear soda with the cola flavor. Back when Crystal Pepsi was first introduced I didn't think it tasted different at all. I did not buy any when it was briefly brought back. Maybe they changed it a bit. I wouldn't be surprised.

Sobe when it was still in the glass bottle.

I was disappointed with the crappy plastic bottles. I think Mystic is plastic now too. It's funny how only bottled water gets hell for being wasteful when practically every other drink is in a plastic bottle now.

Gods, I would strangle a puppy for a case of the old Cranberry-Grapefruit Sobe flavor. I practically lived on that pink shit during my senior year of highschool. It vanished for a while, then came back for a while in the plastic bottles, but it wasn't the same - it didn't even look the same. The color was very different.

Stop trying to pretend those are the same product, Sobe.

I don't know what they are called because it's been so long, but imagine a moon pie, chocolate coating and an inside of fluffy goy slop™, but with a spiral like a snail shell that can be unravelled to divide it into segments.

It was so incredibly good, addictive, and super cheap - To this day I can't find either the name or brand, and seeing as I purchased it on an old lady's "everything is off brand" convenience store years ago probably never will.

For ref. on what a moon pie is

They're not anywhere near me anymore, but Rocky Mountain Candy Co. used to have these things they called "s'mores". It was two graham crackers with whole marshmallows (usually 4) squashed between them, dipped in thick milk chocolate. I used to buy like six or seven as treats when I was in the Navy and going in and out for sea trials. Utterly decadent, but so tasty.

The last time I saw them was in October at Walgreens. Ours closed down so I don't know if they still carry them. I've seen them at Rite Aid too. But a lot of those are gone. Not sure about CVS. But it seems I've only seen them at pharmacies recently. I think they still make them. There's a pumpkin spice variety.

My Walgreens and CVS locations are still open, while a lot of Rite Aid locations have been long gone

I could see that. I only tried it when it was brought back briefly.

To all the sobe fans, afaik they're still around. The website is up and there is a locator.

Funny thing is, Sobe is also available in parts of Mexico. Hopefully it's not gonna be in the same situation as Alamo Beer
I remember sobe as a kid, but not enough about what it tastes like. I don't even know if it's worth seeking out now. Perhaps as a fun weekend / day trip or something. But the post above is...concerning.

Yeah, Snapple switched to plastic too, which is a shame.

What I do miss are these Eggo Waf-fulls. And I also miss wacky, edgy packaging/labels on food boxes and cans. Everything looks so bland and too safe now.

The only time I tried Sobe was back in early-2009. It was Super Bowl 43 and Sobe teamed up with NBC and DreamWorks by handing out free 3D glasses in participating groceries or convenience stores upon viewing the halftime show which promoted Monsters vs. Aliens, as well as an episode of Chuck that followed a day after

Any bongs remember this late 90's "wolfberry and guarana" sugarwater?

(I'm deeply triggered by the fact this is the closest image I could find but it's not the label remember).

If any of you are fans of Fruit Stripe Gum and can still find it in stores I’d buy it right now, it’s officially been discontinued.

I also picked up a 12-pack of MTN Dew Spark since it was supposedly discontinued this year.

Not a bong but I found this one, I’m not sure if this is the one you‘re talking about though.

Thanks, I appreciate your effort, but that's even worse. This is clearly my Mandella-effect moment.

For the record it had a faint taste of iron, mild citrus and a sort of herby botanical note. It was trying to be a cool, mature drink in a soft drink niche, with caffeine and guarana in the years before energy drinks were a thing. A weird drink that just never found its market, should have gone upscale nutraceutical but I don't think that was a thing at the time.

Not precisely a "discontinued food", exactly, but it's virtually impossible to buy an "american style" waffle maker anymore. As far as I can tell, there are exactly two still produced, one is a Black and Decker that gets crappy reviews on Amazon, and the other is some posh thing for rich people that costs 360 bucks.

I just want my thin waffles of my childhood, not these inch-and-a-half thick things.
