stuff like this makes me question if TJ's numbers are actually accurate. 5k in a month is insane, like where is he getting that money?
TJ's numbers are pretty damn accurate; they are even conservative estimates of Phil's spending. Compared to past years, Phil definitely cut his spending down on the game, albeit not by much. He's still spending a shit load though with his weekly numbers in the thousands per event. Many here and elsewhere have speculated that he started to dip into his YT check to help supplement his spending addiction. In the past, especially during the vest streak era, he was most likely only using his tip money on the game, and the Twitch/YT checks were used solely for bills.

For other means on how is getting that money, I'm actually under the impression that Phil has somehow got another line of credit, which is he has probably already maxed out and is making minimum monthly payments on in order to fuel his gambling addiction. It's been about 4 years since his bankruptcy, so it's honestly not too inconceivable that he could have been approved for one of those credit re-building cards, albeit with an insanely high APR. It would kind of explain why he's been begging like a crack addict as of late.

I was under the impression that it's against the law for him to get a credit card or loan until 2027 (7 years after his bankruptcy), is that a myth?

Pretty sure he has dropped multiple hints about a potential Amazon CC and/or just paying with payment plans within a year or less of the bankruptcy. As soon as he got his shit discharged he would be able to get some high interest cards no problem.

DSP really thinks that CC's mean you are a grown up big boy and money problems are over if you listen to him talk about them over the years so I'm sure he has multiple at this point. No way he is floating the amount of money he is spending without them and any company will give a sucker a 30%+ APR card. If I had to guess his finances currently he has zero savings and is paying mins on a few cards he uses for doordash/booze then he uses YouTube check for bills and instant transfers all tips to be used on WWE Champions and when he got those big sub bombs he put more aside for pulls only to get rekt by the great country of Argentina 🇦🇷

He goes off in a dent on the chat, ask for money end the stream and login in WWE champions.

It’s not against the law but most companies won’t want the risk. But there are some who will give super high interest cards to people who went through bankruptcy. You know he’s only paying the absolute minimum on them too

It's not against the law, he just has very bad credit until the bankruptcy goes off of his record (7-10 years after it was granted). So it's really tough for him to open a line of credit that doesn't have low credit limits and/or high interest rates.

When Phil looks at the tens of thousands of dollars he spent on JPEGs, does he know that he has a problem? Or is he dumb and ginbrained enough to think: “This is no big deal! Lots of people have hobbies they spend money on! This is my hobby and if I CHOSE to quit, I’d just do that!”

When Phil was playing WWE Supercard, he would post on the forums about how it's a waste of time and money. And then the same account would humblebrag about how he's a Top 5 player who was playing it 40+ hours a week.

I'm sure he has moments of clarity about how fucked he is. But during the Sides Scrollers interview, he seemed surprised when the hosts said that spending "under $1000" on a mobile game was way too much. Even his lowball lie seems insane to the average person.

I thought for sure the documentary was going to be his out, Mike talked about interviewing the developers of WWE champions. You could easily just throw in a part where he admits to it and says he has a gambling addiction, boo hoo and then the drama is over forever.

I think that's the sole reason he cancelled the documentary is that would mean he has to stop pulling hulk hogans. There is no reason to stop yet. I have also concluded that Kat must know about the Hogans and is okay with it.

The only scenario I could see making any sense is he becomes #1 in WWE champions and THEN admits it was him all along and has a gambling addiction, but that would be retarded.

Taking a look at his potential spendings in Champions, this is a conclusion I find reasonable, feel free to disagree if I'm making a mistake.

The calculation adds the money he has spent to max the VIP levels (as explained in this thread, and assuming he did, with no evidence to the contrary), and the compilation of TJ's posts/Tweets I found recently, which cover approximately 2.5 years of the nearly 7 DSP has been playing.

- 38976$ (VIP) + 46351$ (TJ's posts) = 85327$ (lower-end of absolute minimum)
- 38976$ (VIP) + 49979$ (TJ's posts) = 88955$ (higher-end of absolute minimum)
- Then: >88955$ (higher-end of absolute minimum and assuming DSP wasn't perfectly efficient)

Reminder that this only covers VIP levels and about 2.5 years of TJ's posts found, which may lack info due to missing archives or those lost to DMCAs.

So, if we assume he's been spending at the same rate for all 7 years, that amounts to $249,074 spent on Champions.

Phil also played and whaled WWE Supercard for at least 2 years before that, and there's other games he's admitted to playing.

He is at least well into 6 figures into mobile games, and probably around that $250k mark.

No, because once the VIP is paid, he does not have to spend more into it. So you got that number by dividing the total by 2.5, then multiplying by 7 (total/2.5 * 7), but the VIP goes apart.

So instead is: VIP + (LootCoinSpending/2.5 * 7), which should be about 168758 on the lower end, and 178917 on the higher.

That's assuming the rate of DSP's spendings on Champions is constant, but he might have gotten more careless in these last years.

You also have to consider that there might be a bit of an overlap between the amounts spent in the game before he reached max VIP, and the amounts of the VIP itself. That's because it looks like there are offers for loot coins + VIP points, as shown below, so in his beginnings of Champions he could have killed 2 birds with 1 stone (paying for VIP while also paying for loot at the same time, therefore causing an overlap).

I think the greater point is that even the estimates are inaccurate, even if he spends 50% of the estimate it's still and incredible number. But don't get me wrong, I greatly appreciate the effort you and TJ put in exposing this greedy fuck

Yep agreed. He has whaled on a few different games and I think if you add it all up, it's probably close to a quarter of a million. I am sure he is on Street Fighter Duel too, and that game is an absolute money pit! I still play it (haven't spent a dime) and it is damn near impossible to play competitively without spending.

I doubt that TJ even covered every single event...

DSP is so fucked.

I believe there are also various things to spend money on outside of events as well, but I'm not familiar enough with the game to know what they are or speculate on them.

There's like a monthly Battle Pass-style thing that he buys at least.

TLDR: Phil could have payed off the house, but spent the money on jpegs.

Very mahture and ahdult decision!

Makes you wonder how much of this is driven by sunk cost fallacy. Brick brains like Phil are particularly vulnerable to this. “If I quit now, all the money I spent will have been for nothing!”
