Ethics committee drops Jamaal Bowman fire alarm investigation​

Jan. 26 (UPI) -- The House Ethics Committee has dropped the investigation into Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., for triggering a fire alarm when there was no fire at the Capitol last fall.

The committee released a joint statement from Chair Rep. Michael Guest, R-Miss., and ranking Democratic member Rep. Susan Wild, D-Penn., that said, "In light of the House's intervening censure of Representative Bowman, the Committee determined that further review of Representative Bowman's conduct would be moot. The Committee has separately confirmed that Representative Bowman has complied with the relevant terms of his deferred sentencing agreement."

Bowman was censured by the House for his conduct Dec. 7, 2023. Bowman pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of willfully and knowingly pulling a false fire alarm.

He said he accidentally pulled it.

The Ethics Committee declined to investigate the incident in November but got a referral from the Office of Congressional Ethics urging a review.

According to the joint statement from the Ethics Committee, the independent Office of Congressional Ethics had unanimously recommended that the Ethics committee review the incident but dismiss allegations that Bowman had tried to impede congressional operations.

The committee said Bowman paid a $1,000 fine and wrote an apology letter to Capitol Police. He also was sentenced to three months probation for the misdemeanor.

Capitol Police security cameras recorded Bowman trying to go through locked doors in the Cannon House Office Building on Sept. 30.

He tried the locked doors, turned to his left and pulled the fire alarm. He then quickly left the area, according to Capitol Police.

The Democrats ain't afraid of having the feds not take note of mentally ill individuals who will mysteriously acquire weapons and shoot up a mall or something.

There is at least the fact it happened somewhere where operations were already authorized and going on, so you can sorta make a argument it wasn't as big a deal. In the case of Biden though they want to open a entirely new front which I don't think Clinton was doing and when Obama did it he was at least going for a much less dangerous target with more allied backing (France was hype to do it because Qaddafi was threatening their Francafrique grfit)

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden is expected to issue an executive order targeting Israeli settlers in the West Bank who have been attacking Palestinian s in the occupied territory, according to four people familiar with the matter.

A senior administration official, who like the others was not authorized to comment publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity, said the White House was expected to announce the order later Thursday.

Biden has spoken out against retaliatory attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank in the aftermath of the Hamas attacks against Israel on Oct. 7. The president has pledged that those those responsible for the violence will be held accountable.

The executive order is expected to set the ground for imposing sanctions on individuals who have engaged in violence against Palestinians in the West Bank.

Attacks by Israeli settlers have intensified since the war started, and some Palestinians have been killed, according to Palestinian authorities. Rights groups say settlers have torched cars and attacked several small Bedouin communities, forcing evacuations to other areas.

Biden’s expected order was first reported by Politico.

The new executive order comes as Biden was set to visit Michigan on Thursday to rally support from union members in a key presidential battleground state. The Democratic president has faced sharp criticism from Arab and Muslim leaders over his handling of the war with Hamas, and the shadow of the conflict has some Democrats worrying that it could have a major effect on the outcome in the November election.

The State Department announced in December it would impose travel bans on extremist Jewish settlers implicated in a rash of recent attacks on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

The department did not announce individual visa bans. But officials said at the time the bans would cover “dozens” of settlers and their families, with more to come if the violence continued.

I can’t wait for Biden to get 690 million votes, so the DNC can turn around and say: “He won because of Taylor Swift’s endorsement!”

The Wikipedia articles on the US census and population will all be quietly updated and we’ll be blessed with context banners on anything that brings up the “election disinformation” that Biden somehow got more votes than the “insurrection figure” for the US population.
