Where I live that wouldn't be considered "special ed", as the distinction is made between kids who can barely write their own name, possibly still shit their pants and need constant supervision so they don't eat the pencils, and the ones who might simply have a few behavioural issues or struggle somewhat with their schoolwork but can otherwise comprehend what's being taught to them and stay in mainstream classes, possibly go on to university, hence it coming across to me as Staph exaggerating it for oppression points.

Depends on the surgeon for the specifics, but they want generally a BMI lower than 33 to 35. She is, in no way, less than 35 or 33 even. I would love to know her weight and height. I'm no good at guesstimating, unfortunately— especially from babblers up.

It's also a bad situation for Staph's parents, particularly her mum. People who are undergoing cancer treatment frequently have to rehome their animals because their immune system is suppressed and zoonotic diseases are a potential threat. Even if her mum has been given the all clear to keep pets, it's still not a great situation for multiple other reasons.

Staph isn't massively intellectually impaired- she has a master's degree, even though it's in a soft field and she needed her hand held- so she is perfectly capable of understanding basic disease mechanisms and models. She just doesn't care. About anyone or anything other than herself. Someone else in her position would be freaking the fuck out at the prospect of losing their only family support, but Staph is a low IQ narcissist, and I've never met a narc who could conceptualise any form of future.
