Could you explain this a little more? I know from Latinos I've hung out with that being gay is still viewed and sinful and disgusting -- deserving of contempt and mockery. But transing one's kids is also absolutely being used as conversion therapy, and I've seen it in particular with Mexican families in the US. I particularly recall a conversation with a Mexican man who was so relieved that his son had come out as trans. It was never explicitly stated, but plain in his word choice and body language: he didn't have to deal with the shame of having failed as a father and raised a gay son. No, he had succeed as a father and managed to raised his trans daughter to have enough bravery to show her true self to the world. In other words, his son coming out as trans was letting him cope.
