General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
Half the viewers voted in like 5m, that's pretty crazy.

Edit: The URL of the merch store is a perfect representation of the stream.

Nina is a gross tranny supporting sjw whose main streaming partner is a tranny. Zaion got fired for a rape joke, they're totally incompatible.

Also while sayu follows doki and reached out to her publicly doki doesnt follow sayu.

This is probably from seeing the massive outpouring of support for Doki. Sayu never got to reap the benefits of the corporate position to carry anything over.

No doubt. How big was Zaion when she was axed though? Selen was a megastar, and had the added benefit of Zaion being axed before her, so the audience knew what to expect.

Cecil was poached so Harambe could go to heaven.

As much as I'd love if she went full scorched-earth and namedrop who did what, and how management completely fucked her over. She probably doesn't want to risk affecting the other vtubers there that she's still on friendly terms with, plus, you gotta be careful with the legal shit.

That said. I don't think Niji will survive in the long-term. It seems like they're just shotgunning out new generations and hoping they get a few successful talents, and it's really showing now. I've got a mate who's more knowledgable about the big corpos and in his words "even some of the bitg Niji fans forgot that they just dropped a new wave with TTT". So if the company goes under, all may be revealed.

Maybe I'm reading into it a bit much, but they seem to be in the middle of a death spiral. They're shotgunning out waves to try and save themselves, but by shotgunning out waves they're also making it so people don't really give a shit anymore.

So you have to dox yourself to be a vtuber in china? That literally defeats the purpose of being (basically) anonymous while being a streamer. Extremely dumb.
Something about government policy and how China is increasingly trying to make the concept of privacy to be non-existent in that blasted yellow country.

Also, to elaborate, it's not like you had to dox self when you start vtubing in china. Rather, (I might be wrong here, this is what I heard), this whole thing is set-up so that ANY content creator, not just vtubers, that has reached certain milestone is REQUIRED to dox themselves, so that, in a chance that these people fucks up or do something that considered bad to the red state, then they would have their personal identities and everything available to be shamed at.

In short, it's extremely dumb.

As expected, a vague statement vetted by lawyer and a clear desire to leave the drama in the past. The most mature and professional thing to do. That being said, her unwillingness to name names or simply say 'It wasn't other livers who harassed me' basically leaves the drama crowd hanging. People will just speculate and come to their own conclusions, to the detriment of other livers. Nijisanji will probably bounce back as the fire dies down, but it will be a more miserable and stagnant place from now. Probably in a year or so we will find out what happened after somebody else goes rogue and leaks shit. As long as they keep pulling triple digit concurrent viewer numbers, I don't expect Niji to kill the branch since they've been somewhat reluctant to cut losses in the past.

Tomato intro was funny.
In other news, China has enforced it's real name real face policy for vtubers. Over the new years, every vtuber over a certain size had their face exposed
Yeah, I didn't look into it but that looks more like incompetency to me. I assume some trolls made that compilation by accessing leaked databases. Chinese never gave a fuck about protecting private citizen data.

Anyway, here's just the statement about the Niji situation, for posterity.
In addition to that another yt clip of it
I would like to pause for a moment and emphasize that we are barely 40 days into 2024 and we already got (list may be incomplete):
- Pomu graduation
- Mel termination for NDA breaking
- Mafumafu/Mikeneko marriage/divorce/mud-slinging ark
- first Niji Gen 1 graduation of Chihiro
- Kyo graduation
- Selen drama, suicide attempt, ugly termination
- Niji's questionable crisis management which lead into stocks drop and loss of merch partners
- alleged Niji-Discord leaks

Anycolor's biggest mistake is thinking that they can keep their success going indefinitely and not adapting or experimenting, they thought that their method of "acceleration" and letting fans to only "stick to their favourite" will withstand the changes in the industry market forever

Nijisanji will probably bounce back as the fire dies down,
This I ultimately doubt. This is the beginning of the end for them, at least in the English market. Their two biggest talents just jumped ship, one under a torrent of controversy which is negatively effecting the entire brand. People could overlook Zaion because she was new. Nobody can overlook this. This will cause a stain of bitterness and suspicion to hang over the entire branch. People will be reluctant to support the branch going forward because the theories of a "mean girls" clique within Niji will only strengthen and be taken as gospel now. Niji's shotgun approach to talent acquisition is only making it worse. They've introduced so many new talents that people can't keep up anymore and most no longer care. With all the talents they've introduced, they've yet to produce a single one that comes remotely close to matching Selen's numbers, or even Pomu's. Most aren't that successful or memorable; some have numbers that are outright terrible. I guarantee you this, its a matter of when, not if, the next major talent leaves and who it is. It could be Rosemi or Finana, who were part of the first two waves and were close with Pomu and Selen. It could be someone from a newer wave, like Scarle. But Niji is staring down the barrel of a death spiral after losing three major talents in as many months.

if anycolor shits out more waves after this they're going to bury themselves further. i was there the first few waves of EN but after a while it gets annoying and tiring to keep up with everyone, if they do this now after everything then their image will take even more damage. HoloEN had a better approach in my opinion with waves, not dropping new waves immediately after the other. Advent and Promise had a few years between each other, establishing the older gens community

E: seems to me that company's thinking is if we shit more talent out they're going to be all as successful as Selen or Pomu or ride the coattails of their success
