It also inflates the economic contributions of high cost-of-living cities. In places with high prices and a culture that outsources everything, GDP goes up, but actual production doesn't.

For example, imagine a San Francisco bugman and a Midwestern housewife. The bugman buys a grilled cheese sandwich at a restaurant for lunch and pays $20 for it while the housewife makes an identical grilled sandwich for her kid with 50¢ of ingredients. On paper, the bugman contributed 3900% more to GDP than the housewife, but in reality they produced exactly the same amount of resources, that is, one grilled cheese sandwich. This extends to every service: the housewife also does her family's own laundry with a machine in her house, while the bugman goes to a laundromat and pays for each load. Again, the bugman "contributes" more to GDP but doesn't actually produce anything more.

GDP measures the velocity of money, not productivity.

How long are they expected to deliberate on this? I know they probably won't decide today, but will they take the weekend? A couple weeks?

I dunno, the Dems are getting stupid and desperate and will only get more so as the election date nears and Biden numbers (hopefully) continue to slump but disenfranchising 50% of your states population to help your team win may be a bridge to far even for the modern progressive Democrat party.

The back lash to telling half your state that no, you don't in fact get to vote for who you want to because Orange Man Bad is not going to be an easy sell no matter how many MSM journoslimes parrot the party line.

You severely underestimate how batshit insane these people are. I've seen people legitimately ask why the democrats in government should give any republican the time of day, completely ignoring that they represent actual tax paying citizens of this country and have a right to a voice in government too. The mentality has moved to "we need to get rid of these people". They TRULY don't give 2 shits about democracy anymore.

Yet they effectively already have that in California with their "Jungle Primary" that serves to make every Senate race a contest between two Democrats.

This would probably be a good question for a lawkiwi, but outside of the provisions of the constitution stating the succession of the presidency in regards to incapacitation, is there any law stating that the president need be mentally sound?

If the justice department is refusing to prosecute a sitting president on the basis of a cognitive deficiency, wouldn’t that preclude someone from the presidency. You have to swear an oath of office, would that count legally if you aren’t mentally capable of doing so.

I mean, do I sound retarded? I’m not a lawyer.
