Apparently this guy, Crash Bandicoot was paying Shinji's tuition while he was still on the show just to keep him enrolled and funded his flight to Rhode Island to begin with. From what I can piece together from Shinji's first live stream is that Shinji is unable to work a job in the US but still has massive tuition bill problems so they did a bizarre gambit where they signed him up for the show thinking that he could just rip and run on a few challenges for a quick infusion of cash only for him to just survive the full run of the show and make a serious attempt at the 50k. The show actually ran long enough that he was missing classes which is why he immediately flew back home only to realize he had a fever and the flu along with the rest of the cast and production team.

This guy is actually carrying Shinji, not trying to dip into Shinji's money.
I'm still sceptical.
There is a window of having tuition stuff sorted out that tends to carry into the beginning of the semester. You can have this sorted out before the semester begins which is presumably what Shinji and Crash did and the show's money would be to pay Crash back. But how is Shinji on a student visa to begin with if tuition wasn't figured out beforehand? He took an entire year off, how did he pay for that? I'm curious, I've never gone into the weeds on this but it seems odd that he's unable to find even campus work and is at the whim of some guy he met 6 months ago to stick around.

The ending credit music in the Fishtank season 1 edit was really good. As mixed as the quality was on the episodes I always really enjoyed the outro tracks.

No. Sam mentioned wanting to bring Cobes into the tank, but Cobes is too much of a "diva". Cobes will never be on Fishtank.
Cobes just has performance anxiety and a slight fright of new experiences, he'd love it in the tank if he got over the hurdle of getting in it. Goran needs to consider kidnapping Cobra and forcefully putting him in the tank.

Cobes made it onto Fishtank s2?
No, but Sam did get blindsided during a conversation in the lounge by the fact that Tayleigh did contact Cobes over the phone at one point, and asked her if she could get in contact with him again, which she stated she had his number still but Cobes would alternate between accepting all calls and none at all, and that she would make the attempt if he wanted to talk to him. It was way too late in the season for any new freeloader to be brought in but Sam definitely seemed surprised by Tayleigh's antics.

I saw people on X alleging that Jet Neptune was fired due to some things that Sam said on the latest live stream so I decided to check it out.

2:09:00 - "don't get wrapped up in drugs cause the drugs will prevent you from realizing that stuff you made sucks and you will make more stuff that sucks" - I included this because Jet makes some shitty rap and the context of this quote is that it's replying to some guy who talked about doing rap, so it could be a subtle jab at Jet.

There's nothing concrete yet to suggest that Jet was fired but this post was just made simply because I was confused why there was a 337 like tweet suggesting Jet was fired.

The other thing that’s weird is Sam constantly declaring Chris Lynch as his “guy” and right hand man. May not be fired. But may think less of him.

I would highly doubt Jet or Ben are fired, the problem with Fishtank is lack of preparation and Sam himself is largely implicated in that regard. Obviously there was some severe fiascos that happened, such as eliminating Brian/Octavius/Delaney/Taylor in a short timeframe only for Jimmy to immediately get kicked, leaving the house desperately short on quality fish for an extended period of time. Brian wasn't amazing, but he still would participate in a good manner. They were extremely lucky that Tayleigh was something of a hot head and refused to be bullied by Frank and immediately went on the offensive with counter hassling by smashing eggs on his head, making piss misting bottles, spitting in his face. Had she remained as passive as she was in the first week the show basically would have died entertainment wise the moment Jimmy got kicked.

But the problem remains, both seasons have been largely carried by a single individual, Letty in S1 and Tayleigh in S2. Once either of these two got burned out or disinterested for a stretch of time the show basically ground to a complete standstill and was godawful. Tay seems to have started getting burned out by the show once Trish was eliminated and more or less stated that she wasn't going to be doing anything offensively against Shinji or TJ which immediately killed the final week, Jet and Ben had become so accustomed to being carried by either Tay, Frank or Fatty that they had literally nothing planned and the final week just consisted of Tay walking from room to room just looking at shit vacantly while everyone else just napped the hours away. Even the Swamp Olympics was a rushed thing they did on the fly at the last minute, a themed finale should be the first thing planned before the fish even arrived at the house, instead they improv'd it on the spot a day before the finale happened.

The show being completely adrift was noticed by the audience and particularly Tay multiple times, I had a video of Oliver pointing out how fucking shit and unprepared the production crew was the final week was while talking to Trish and Tay in the living room, but I must have deleted it.

Jet seems to at least be aware at how hard Tay was carrying the show in the back half of the season and went off to B1 and had a little moment of respect talking about how great she was after she was eliminated. Sam seems to just absolutely fucking hate the whole S2 cast and the show itself if I'm reading him properly in that podcast episode with Dascha. He is just a toxic element that just barely phones it in and I think it would be better if he was cut from his own show and someone more serious like Alex Stein put in place. Fishtank can be a great show at times, the first week was great, the mostly uncensored TTS and rotating cast of freeloaders like Nifty introduce a lot of dynamics that aren't present in other shows in the genre, the S2 cast being abrasive dickheads with politically incorrect views also is a largely something that is uncommon in the genre as well. Someone like Alex Stein being in charge who is a reality TV junkie would probably make the show have a real schedule for activities and eliminations for the fish to plan and scheme around which would let a "villain" like Letty or Tay, or early season Brian actually have a chance at not just surviving, but thriving and have a chance to win. Elimination challenges and rituals being known in advance are a large part of the structure of shows like Survivor and dictate how the cast screws each other over. S2 had zero real eliminations so the cast was just floating along waiting for it to be sprung on them, with the exception of Tay who foolishly participated in the 'Make Chris Cry' challenge that was immediately overturned since she chose to zero out the wrong fish.

it's meme shit but his mishandling of S2 is obvious and need not be cushioned. Running a show like this is in and of itself a toil on their bodies, in the same genre as Jackass cast but deeper, so you don't fire a person who will willfully work on a passion project shit show

there were strong dad's-missing-dad's-home vibes where the energy and flow of the house was derailed OR imminently dangerous (i.e. boring and not profitable or sensational and financially liable) and Sam had to literally fly his ass in to manage the setting

if we accept that full-time FTL staff will be creatively shot from fatigue, they should just plan on outside elements refreshing things and lean less on their regular crew

sequelitis, the fans can be difficult to appease it's like a Timmy telling his new girlfriend about his first girlfriend

I do see a lot of blame shifting which is really unhealthy for the project even if Jet deserves blame... Sam was present for a lot of these decisions, he probably lets Jet come up with 90% of the ideas but if a few weeks after the show he can't accurately repeat what happened on the show and why, it makes me think there's not a lot of accurate internal feedback or course correction. it makes me imagine Jet bringing Sam his homework like, "dad dad, you know how yesterday I was supposed to write a five paragraph essay about what I did this summer, well I played video games all night and gave her a drawing of a dragon instead and she gave me a D" and Sam furrows his brow and goes "the Democrats fucked up our education system"

Its Sam's JOB to be on the spot, he is the fucking host of the show and the primary investor. Jet and Ben for their part were on site 24/7 handling shit at all hours of the day, whether it was the basement flooding, the camera feeds to the website dying, managing challenges that ran long like The Cell, Golden Beetle, Furniture Stealing thing, or Rice Bucket thing deep into the morning hours, literal fights like between Trish and Tay, or Jimmy's mallet incident, dealing with people having psychotic breaks like Summer, panic attacks when Fatty got sealed into the Goon Cave or when Tay had the bucket of crickets thrown on her and she started panicking and sobbing. Sam seems to think it was ok for him to just show up for 2-3 hours a day and that was sufficient, it wasn't, he needed to be in the basement planning shit out for days in advance with Jet and Ben so Bex could go out and get the stuff for challenges in advance and actively watch the show to see what personality quirks each contestant had so it could be exploited for entertainment purposes. Instead Sam just goes on his show and bitches about how he hated the contestants, that they suck, brags about how he got a recovered bulimic to start vomiting again which prompted an open moment of disgust from Dasha who was on the show.

People give way too much leniency to Sam regarding the way S2 played out. Even the choice of the cult theme and doing attack therapy was an unmitigated disaster and that all derives from him directly. Jet may have sucked on the show, but I think this is more due to him being in a position he isn't suited for, he was never meant to be interacting with the fish so often, that is Sam's job. Jet comes across more like a details guy that handles the backend shit like cameras, microphones and the internet feed and continuously being forced to be the host split his attention too much.

"Hey guy who runs a show that made me 1.3 million dollars in 6 weeks your fired for no real reason your a wigger I guess"
If Sam was more cognizant of Fishtank goings-on he'd be aware that Jet reduces the profitability of the show. It's harder to measure but TTS, lack of reaction to keep fishtoys going, lack of sharks, terrible schedule, terrible engagement with audience, etc it adds up. It's impossible to say exactly how much Jet cost the show but he hurt profits which hurts the bottom line.
I don't think he's fired, he needs to be talked to and properly managed and if that happens/happened it's not going to be public.

managing challenges that ran long like The Cell, Golden Beetle, Furniture Stealing thing, or Rice Bucket thing deep into the morning hours,
I could spend too much time bitching about things in your post even when I agree with your overall point, but Jet absolutely deserves zero leniency. None. He consistently fucked up from day 0.
  • The Cell
    • Fucked up, very confusing for viewers and contestants
  • Golden Beetle
    • Lazy ploy to get the fish to "do something" that fooled no one
  • Furniture Stealing
    • Jet kept Shinji going and convinced him to do his ninja thing, not that bad
    • Shinji is now tired all day and scolded by Sam for trying to catch sleep when he can. Jet it up!
  • Rice Bucket
    • Failure of a challenge, they can't even keep their own rules together
