How would that work with drawings partially traced off a photo? That sounds like it'd only work if it's the exact same picture.![]()
There's a decent enough explanation of how PhotoDNA works on Microsoft's website. TL;DR is they convert the image to black and white and hash it in chunks. So if you're resizing or adjusting the colors of the material, PhotoDNA can still flag the material.
This shit's been built into Photoshop and other editing programs for years too, so the chances are high that anyone tracing will get caught before the image is uploaded, unless they're running ancient versions of the app that aren't connected to the Internet.
Unfortunately I've got a weak stomach when it comes to child abuse and generally avoid this area of cyber forensics, so my knowledge here is pretty surface level
