Of course your genes will be present in your descendant no matter what, but the degree to which they will be allowed to express or put another way the degree to which the person will be similar to you is dependent on how close you are genetically to the mother. I believe it's something like if you have a child with a sufficiently distant racial group, like the bantu for instance you(if you're a white German or English person for instance) are closer to the average(maybe even every) member of your own ethnic group than to your own child. Not to mention that this is likely to continue down, with your child mixing further, very quickly your descendants seem to not be like you at all (For instance, african-americans are 20% or something European(White), but if you're a white English person you can look back into historical portraits or even your families portraits if you're that lucky and find people very much like you.)
