Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

Twitter is currently having a shitfit due to the Direct not being announced at the "usual time". Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if we're just not getting one and the next big thing is the Switch 2 reveal.

I still almost wish Mario vs. Donkey Kong had just been the GBA version on Switch Online instead. The original was pretty ambitious by GBA standards and had a distinctly early/mid 2000s presentation while the remake screams safe, boring, generic, and “we needed something to pad out the end of the Switch’s life”. Even if it’s technically better than the original, $50 just seems like too much.
Switch reveal was funny, had people like Laura Kate Dale outright lie about everything from line up to price to gain notoriety, only for them to get everything wrong.
The only thing she got right was a new Paper Mario, and it was Color Splash. I will never forgive her.

I think if we get anything this week, it'll just be a partner showcase with some 3rd party shadow drops. Pokemon Direct near the end of this month or start of next month. Then an actual direct that will reveal the next Switch mid-March.

This is probably closer to what'll happen yeah. It's kind of hard to feel jilted when they've been dropping new trailers all day really.

Him. LKD is a man.

Same. The GBA line-up in general is IMO the weakest of the Switch Online stuff with the O.G. GameBoy being second. They need more great games in their catalogue. The Genesis has better shit in it... Nintendo's former competitor.

How do you fuck THAT up?

I thought Game Boy was pretty weak, but GBA is kinda great. A lot of those games are really good. Though I never touched any of them until Golden Sun last month.

Aside from the fact that none of the mainline pokemon games (not including stadium) are available, or the fact that Caastlevania has a collection for all the GBA titles (but 2 on GameBoy still wound up on Switch Online for some reason), so you can point to that as to why they aren't on the online catalogue (MegaMan and X are also included in that), we have:
  • NONE of the F-Zero GBA games,
  • SML 1 and 3 are missing along with Wario Land 2
  • Game & Watch Gallery 1 and 2 are missing along with 4 on the GBA
  • We get Quest For Chamelot.... a fucking 1998 Warner Bros animated movie that barely anyone remembers but yet no other movie-license game is chosen? Nothing from Disney... which had more memorable games. Nothing regarding any of the Looney Tunes, which is more of a recognizeable Warner Bros IP than anything else (not counting capeshit)
  • None of Sonic's games for the GBA
And that's just off the top of my head.

I dunno I still like the games we got, even if I don't play them very much.

SNES channel doesn't have Chrono Trigger or Speedy Gonzales los Gatos Bandidos or Mario Paint. But maybe someday!

I think the GBA lineup is pretty good. It’s small, but everything in it is great. Game Boy, on the other hand? Not much bigger, some of it is shovelware/obscure third party stuff, and even the good games leave a lot to be desired. And that’s Game Boy + Color combined. And don’t even get me started on the lack of colorization options.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the problem with subscription services is that they only add the bare minimum to keep you subscribed. Why they don’t just bring back the Virtual Console alongside Switch Online I’ll never know.

I'd just rather them remake DK '94 instead, it's a far, far better game. Or just make a wholly new follow-up to MvDK. A remake of this kind of game is an odd choice, but it's fine I guess.

It's pretty obvious a collection is coming imo.

Still? As with Sonic I originally thought that was because they were gonna port and sell it separately or remake it, but they did none of that and don't seem poised to within Switch's lifespan.

Ever since 3DS I've always hated that they don't provide all the various ways to play these games, like via SGB.

The Nintentards are growing restless now that the second week of February has almost passed without a Direct, lol

"M-maybe they're waiting until after the Xbox business update!"

"M-maybe they'll shadow drop it!"

We got that Princess Peach Showtime trailer solo. We’re not getting a first party Direct this month *sigh*
