I think the golden age of this particular type of grifting has passed. From 2020-2022 there were a bunch of white progressive professionals working from home doom scrolling twitter with nothing to spend money on and anxious as fuck. It's not cool enough just to donate cash to your struggling neighbour next door, it's always gotta be some queer latinx black disabled poly witch fleeing an abusive ex with her support otter in tow.

So if you checked the right DEI boxes, and you could get your posts seen, you could rake in serious cash. People were asking twitter for 10k+ for all their bills for the year to be covered and actually getting it. That ship has sailed though. Everyone who isn't a terminal munchie is back out in the world with their normal hobbies, the white collar industries--especially tech-- suffered some big layoffs the last year or two and now everyone is worried about how they're going to pay their own bills, never mind how they're going to pay some deranged fat girl's entire rent for a year. It was really fun to watch it while it happened: a whole ecosystem of turbo grifters evolved and died out almost overnight. Nature truly is a rich tapestry.

Their e-beg graphics, by the way, say they've been together 5 years... so uhhhh which is it?


One account was created in Jan 2024, after the gofundme started. the other goes all the way back to march 2023, and they have weirdly similar non-english-y (or maybe just weeb-y?) names, "cutloveme" and "itadoriloved." the newer account didn't even bother with a header image. i made a screen recording of one of them... it's literally just GFM spam all the way down.

my guess would be "roxanne silver" in pacifica, ca is the real beneficiary...
but how the fuck has this bullshit made $3k??

Haven't looked into this account much yet, but at a cursory glance at Cutloveme's profile, they posted this saying they're having kidney stones asking for donations.

Hard to read and they scribbled out part of it, but the top part says "Sao Francisco" and the last name is Lima which are both Portugese, so most likely they are from Brazil.

ETA: of course they could have stolen a pic off Google or something, but it looks like the date on there is Feb 9 2024. Regarding the Roxanne Silver person, it could be that they're benefiting off of it, or it could also be a gullible naive person from the US who made the Gofundme at their request. I've actually seen a ton of people who frequently share crowdfunding posts, who will also be asked by some random internet scammer to set up a gofundme for them because it's not available in their country. GFM is only available in 19 countries apparently https://support.gofundme.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001972748-Countries-supported-on-GoFundMe (Brazil is not one of them)

ETA 2: Found Roxanne Silver's info (the one who set up the GFM), seems like she is a boomer, and she reposts fake Elon Musk accounts on twitter that are like "RT this and I'll pick a winner of $10,000!". I could be wrong but kinda seems like she is just gullible/naive and not in on the scam

I've seen a few that begged then a week or two later went on vacation so I assume it does happen. I don't think most of them actually have jobs. They consider e-begging their full time "job".

As for the money they get, it's been posted that a good amount comes from other grifters. It was posted before that there was a time when random people would give more money, but that's dried up quite a bit, as people are dealing with the shitty economy and are generally getting sick of the virtue signalling bullshit.

idk probably a few of them have some kind of low-income day job... maybe store clerk a few days a week or something... and ebeg to supplement that. Ana Mardoll, who has her own thread, had a nepo baby gig for a defense contractor, and Becky Gerber is a multimillionaire living in a McMansion, but i think those are the exceptions. many ebeggars also larp as content creators, "selling" horrible art etc. that nobody wants, but generally i agree with the purple majesty that is jack's dead arm:

Completely agree with this point. There are the occasional outliers who were begging while they had a comfy home-- I think you mentioned the only two I know of actually. And there were people like mem that were able to pull in a ton of grift money but never had anything to show for it because of their terrible life choices.

Everyone else is pulling in the occasional 5-10 dollars here and there, but more or less living precariously in squalor.

My favourite thing that happened during the eBeg gold rush was the top tier beggars pointing out how little they got when they considered how many hours they "worked" begging for it. It never occurred to any of them that if they had the time and energy to devote to 40+ hours a week running begging campaigns online they could just as easily get a job that provides more security. It really does take a lot of work to be a lazy piece of shit sometimes.
