Anthony Fantano / TheNeedleDrop - "The Internet's Busiest Music Nerd"™, heelturned since 2017, slowly becoming smug SJW, threw Sam Hyde under the bus

he's always hated kanye. he gave pablo a 4 or something and got trolled for it so hard he re-reviewed it with like a 7. he has an unending kanye grudge stemming from his fans shitting on him for hating kanye. he doesn't care that kanye named the nose he's just happy to have justification for his boiling hatred of him
I don't think he was going to budge on MBDTF and doubled down and gave it a 6 when he reviewed it again for his 1M subscriber milestone. Also, he gave KSG a 10.
It is evidently clear he was never a big fan of Kanye just because he gets the most backlash from his audience whenever he gives Kanye a mid rating, which is just fine.

He chose to draw the line here because some shitty Fader article in 2015 said he was alt-right and it's made him a neurotic mess since then. I absolutely agree that he probably saw this as an opportunity to finally hit people with a leftist moral high ground mindset because he loves dunking on high schoolers over Twitter

> 6ix9ine sexually assaults 13 year old, no problem reviewing his work
> YNW Melly kills 2 of his friends and raps about it, no problem with a track review
> No problem reviewing or discussing any Chicago drill rappers including Lil Durk or King Vons work. Both rappers mentioned are linked to murders with King Von having allegedly killed 23+ people.

I wouldn't have a problem with someone not wanting to review someones work because the artists comments or actions truly bothered them so much it would make them unable to enjoy the music, but Fantano's hypocrisy is pathetic.

Note: He gave MBDTF by Ye a 6/10 because he didn't care about Kanye's personal life so he effectively didn't enjoy Rolling Stone's #1 nominated album of the 2010s. However, it matters to melon now. I'm glad mainstream music fans are finally getting over this guy.
The reason ultimately comes down to one of the most irritating aspects of Fantano's reviews, which is the idea of good/bad politics.
On several occasions I recall hearing him praise or criticize an album for having good or bad politics, and while I already knew he was a giant faggot about this stuff, I sort of couldn't believe that someone who thinks of themselves as a serious reviewer wouldn't even dress up how they were adjusting their rating of an album because they agreed/disagreed with the political messaging.

So I'm sure all those nice melanated individuals you've mentioned probably thought the right things while raping 13 year olds.

Exactly, if he had just taken the angle that the lyrics on a lot of the songs were shit, which they were, that would be a lot more acceptable because you're being critical of the music. Instead he just hones in on 3 lines about Jewish people (which aren't even bad) and absolutely has a shit fit over it. He made it entirely political when it didn't have to be.

Recently, he put out a full length live review of the album.

Apparently before the clip started recording, he mentioned his divorce was finalized just a couple days ago (dragged on for over a year) and he had come from therapy right before recording. This would probably explain his unhinged Twitter rants and him actively trying to not like any of Vultures without giving it fair criticism. Melon always has a spike in popularity whenever a Kanye album comes out, so I truly think his doubling down and way of handling the situation is going to boost his lolcow status long term.

What makes me laugh is Kanye is unreviewable because he names the Jew and goes on unhinged bipolar rants about Benjamin Netan-yoohoo in an Elmo voice, but like 99% of rappers boast about murder, using and selling drugs, abusing women and generally being a menace to society and that is fine because they keepin' it real or whatever the fuck.
The thing is that a lot of rap is just hoodrats talking tough and saying outrageous shit (the entire genre of Horrorcore is basically that iirc), but nowadays rappers love to boast about their involvement in real life murders to the extent that some inner-city police departments are dedicating themselves to analyzing rap lyrics and music videos to see if they can find evidence of their involvement in actual crimes.

Look at what happened with the murder of FBG Duck and how hard his killers self-snitched on themselves:

What are some bands that he's reviewed that have "bad politics?" Everytime I check out a new band or "artist" they're explicitly left wing, anti white, pro gay etc. If they aren't they're irrelevant and practically guaranteed to stay that way.

Ok so obscure metal bands that are essentially irrelevant (besides Burz who is old news) and an occasionally based nigger. You have to start flipping rocks upside down to find any band with even a trace of right wing messaging, and that's true throughout all of music history. I'm not looking to split hairs I'm just saying that it's ridiculous when journalists praise musicians for being left wing homos as if it's some brave and defiant act, and not a literal requirement.

Right wing artists are banished to poorly encoded mp3s on Telegram. They aren't allowed on social media and they're even banned from having their albums sold on the major second hand markets.

I'm not looking for a list of racist artists (I already have a long one). I'm just looking for examples of artists who are relevant enough to be reviewed by Fantnao but are criticized for their RW beliefs. Tom McDonald would make the list lol.

his worst of the year list is always also filled with white country rapper with 1200 views
Semi related, but I've noticed that a lot of other reviewers are trying to actively call "Try That In A Small Town" one of the worst songs ever.

It seems he went from stealing /mu/core tastes to RYM tastes.

Watch any of his top 10 worst videos. Basically 7/10 entries are “they are right wing chuds so this sucks”

I can't remember the band but many years ago he gave a positive review to a metal album then deleted it because he found out the band had ties to NSBM. Not that the band were Nazis, but they had some vague connections to that scene.

Not sure why that one gets all the hate when Rich Men North of Richmond is so much worse.

I remember this. It was deathspell omega.
Yeah, his Furnaces of Palingenesia review. He left the other DsO reviews up for whatever reason though. He also deleted his La Chaise-Dyable review, and I'm like 95% certain he had a L'ordure à l'état pur review that he deleted as well. His Burzum and Kanye reviews are all still up near as I can tell.
