I teach at a private school. That only shields you so much. You have to make sure that not only are the teachers not involved in this horseshit, but that the administration isn't either. The barrier to entry to teach at a private school in many states is even lower than a public school and that is downright fucking embarrassing, but private schools are usually woefully understaffed so they can't be too picky about who they hire. If they pass the sniff test, they usually get in. The upside is that its usually much easier to get these elements removed in a private school because when parents kick up a fuss, the administration has to listen because it will hurt their bottom line if they start losing tuition fees en masse.
