In this experiment, they did brain scans of normies and pedophiles when looking at photos kittens and cats. The normies had the same brain response when looking at both, but pedophiles had a much higher response when looking at kittens in particular. These are nonsexual images being presented to the test subjects, so they removed the possibility of stirring sexual arousal.

According to this made up "porn sickness" narrative, it should take more and more depraved sexual images to even form the beginnings of a neurological response like this, right? The images aren't even sexual, just generic cat pictures, and the pedophile group in the experiment had a profound response to it.

Pedophiles are just wired differently and are innately different from normal people. It's that simple. I don't know the underlying mechanisms for what sets pedophiles apart from normal people, but my best guess is that it's genetic.

I don't really have an opinion either way, but I highly doubt the validity of the cat/kitten thing. Human beings have a very strong instinct to protect and care for babies, and part of that comes from the way babies look - with big heads, big eyes, etc. Though it has no evolutionary advantage, this also affects the way we look at baby mammals - they seem cute and vulnerable and we instinctively revolt against the idea of hurting them. This effect is especially noticeable in women, who are rarely pedophiles.
