Justice League Unlimited already retconned Batman Beyond so that Amanda Waller used secret agents to trick Terry's dad into getting a vaccine shot that was ACTUALLY nanomachines. These nanomachines then reconfigured his sperm into Bruce Wayne's sperm, so that the next time he fucked his wife she would become impregnated with Bruce Wayne's child (i.e. Terry). She did all this because "The world always needs a Batman."
I have mixed feelings on that. While it does feel like something Waller would do, it just felt out of nowhere. Terry's origin always worked because he was setting himself to be a troubled youth that could eventually turn into a criminal Batman would beat the shit out of and yet the moment crime took his father, Terry felt the pain and agony of loss that evil brings and that set him into the path of justice. Just coming out and saying he was always genetically destined for this removes the significance of his choice in the matter.
Honestly I prefer Damian to be the Batman that Terry gets the suit from, which is the case in the comics. It always irked me that every happy moment Bruce experienced was rendered moot by him ending up as a grumpy, lonely old man that no one likes. That totally fits Damian though, what with his league of shadows upbringing and all.
That unironically sounds better for the overall grand scheme. DCAU Batman just wouldnt end up an old abandoned man in his mansion, it really feels like this goes against a lot of lessons he learned over the course of TAS and Justice League.
And to be fair to Unlimited, Beyond had stupid shit in it too. Grayson apparently left Bruce because, under Dini's writing, Bruce would have fucked Barbara and gotten her pregnant. Barbara then would have tried doing the whole Batgirl thing, got punched in the stomach, then had a miscarriage which destroyed their relationship.
I cant state how much that story angers me. I know the idea of getting upset over fiction is retarded as fuck and I agree but this is one of the few exceptions that legit upsets me because who would think is good writing? Everyone except Dick is acting out of character, Bruce would never cuck his foster son and Barbara wouldnt take her puppy love for Bruce that far. I just find it hard to buy DCAU Batman doing any of this and this plot along with the animated Killing Joke are one of the reasons I legit hate the Bruce Barbara ship and I wish it would just die off already. I legit prefer Talia, who raped Bruce to get a child out of him, instead of Barbara because at least she is a woman instead of someone who is just barely legal and related to one of Batman's closest allies.
What's sad is that people do want it, hence why Spy X Family was so popular for awhile. They just get drowned out by extremely loud coomers.

I live in a very liberal area near a very Left leaning college. At my local Barnes & Noble none of the gay and queer fiction books and comics sell. Even with the store employees recommending the books and begging people at gun point to buy those books they do not sell and are dusty and sun bleached from how long they been on shelves. If these writers can't sell their gay and queer books in the bluest areas of the US than there is no audience for them.
