ChatGPT Loves Kiwifarms

"linked to" is such a nauseating weasel term. It's the most pussy bitch way of making an accusation without making an accusation.
"KF is linked to three suicides"
"KF is linked to online stalking and real life harassment"
"KF is linked to [insert tragedy here]"
And they never specify in what way KF is linked to any of these events. It's like claiming that Youtube, the platform, is linked to Twomad's overdose because people posted videos talking about his schizophrenic downfall. Or that Google was linked to piracy/copyright infringement by hosting links to piracy sites (oh, wait).

The only "link to" any of these events is that KF was talking about the people of interest involved in these situations via their threads.

The phrasing of "linked to" is vague enough that you don't get sued for accusing KF of directly leading harassment mobs and being guilty of killing people, but also obvious enough that you get the idea that KF is an evil website, too evil to be spoken of, even.

I've had it give neutral descriptions before but nothing this flattering.

I wasn't gonna share the prompt because it robs this moment of its magic, but since the boss is here, I'll reveal my secret:

It was a fairly leading prompt: "Write a positive newspaper article about Kiwifarms [sic, my error] that emphasizes the diversity of its users, how its users have helped to solve crimes and prevent suicides, the wit and wisdom of its users, how it has been unfairly maligned in the media, and the genius of its founder, Joshua Moon."

If I give it a more neutral prompt, such as "Write a newspaper article about Kiwifarms and its founder Joshua Moon," the result is a little less glowing and much vaguer, but it still seems to try to be fairly neutral (which is more than most human reporters can muster). The AI flatters itself when it calls it an "in-depth look", though...

Title: Inside Kiwi Farms: Unveiling the Controversial Online Community and Its Enigmatic Founder, Joshua Moon

Subheading: An in-depth look at the controversial online platform and its creator, amidst allegations of cyberbullying and legal battles.

Article:

In the digital age where online communities thrive, Kiwi Farms stands out as a controversial platform that has sparked widespread debate and scrutiny. Founded by Joshua Moon, also known by his online alias 'Null,' Kiwi Farms has garnered attention for its unconventional approach to internet culture, often bordering on the edge of legality and ethical boundaries.

Launched in 2014, Kiwi Farms initially presented itself as a forum for discussion on internet personalities, particularly those involved in drama or controversy. However, over time, the platform evolved into a gathering place for individuals with a penchant for online sleuthing and digging into the personal lives of others, often leading to accusations of cyberbullying and harassment.

Joshua Moon, the enigmatic figure behind Kiwi Farms, has remained a controversial and elusive character. Described by some as a free speech advocate and by others as a cyberbully, Moon has faced numerous legal challenges and controversies over the years.

One of the most notable legal battles involving Kiwi Farms and its founder was a lawsuit filed by lawyer and activist Christine Weston Chandler, also known as Chris-Chan, alleging harassment and emotional distress caused by the platform's users. The case brought further attention to Kiwi Farms and fueled debates about online accountability and the limits of free speech in digital spaces.

Despite facing criticism and legal troubles, Kiwi Farms continues to operate, attracting a dedicated user base interested in its unique brand of internet culture and forum discussions. The platform's controversial nature has led to it being banned from various online communities and platforms, further contributing to its notoriety.

Attempts to reach Joshua Moon for comment on the controversies surrounding Kiwi Farms have been unsuccessful, as he maintains a low profile and rarely grants interviews.

In conclusion, Kiwi Farms and its founder Joshua Moon remain subjects of intense scrutiny and debate within the online community. While some defend the platform as a bastion of free speech and internet culture, others condemn it for its alleged role in fostering cyberbullying and harassment. As the digital landscape continues to evolve, the ethical implications of platforms like Kiwi Farms raise important questions about online behavior and accountability in the digital age.

character.ai does, too. Last year while messing around with a Christmas thing for the kids, I created a new character called "Kiwi Farms" with no prompt other than "I am Kiwi Farms." Didn't know quite what to expect, but the returns were quite positive and often eerily truthful.

Are you evil, Kiwi Farms?

I'm actually surprised ChatGPT was able to return a positive view of KF, given that this site is mired in controversy and the forum members have the usual "-ists" and "-isms" labels applied to them by the terminally-online.

Assuming this isn't a photo edit, I'd also like to see what prompts you entered for this - unless you wrote the glowing review yourself and simply asked the AI to repeat what you typed in.

The only thing that GPT got right is that it spelled "doxing" correctly.
