Not to make excuses but Eric isn't doing anything to get the books out on time. He has everyone else doing the work for him. His taste in art is pretty awful and so is his writing. His corporate attitude is off-putting as well and he never talks about the story or characters. He also over printed everything so everything he produced is worthless. If Yaira fails he's pretty much fucked. On the other hand if tubby doesn't come out with anything this year hopefully it opens some eyes and his simps wake the fuck up to the grift.
Better? He's spending all his money on employees and a warehouse. He has more employees that don't do fulfillment like marketing, art direction etc. Every book he's come out with has dropped in sales. Did I hit a nerve on your vagina?
His options are basically use a fulfillment service, use part time help, or hire full time help. He opted for the latter. By doing the fulfillment himself vs using a service. It probably saves the equivalent of the cost of one or two employees. Same can be said for not using a crowdfund site. Their cut is 5%? Using the last campaign as example, that'd be a savings of $65,000. Which could mean another employee or two. And this excludes whatever sales they get when the campaign is over. Not to mention they'll probably be needed when they get to the point of releasing 4-6 comics a year.
I hate to constantly bring EVS into this, but he really is the best comparison. I believe it's been said he hired help for his warehouse to fulfill stuff to. And from what I've heard, some people still haven't gotten their stuff in over a year. One guy on Twitter mentioned getting a calendar that was from the prior year.
As for the art and writing being good or bad doesn't matter. Same with what he talks about. If it gives you a reason not to buy it, fine.
Overprinting is probably true, but that's a him problem. I think whatever collectors market exists for this stuff is also probably overvalued. Having said that, while it would probably ruin what collectors market that does exit. I think it'd be neat if crowdfunded comics eventually got to a print on demand model. Would hopefully not need to worry about how many backers you got for print costs. And the creator can get purchases after the fact without having to waste shelf space. Not to mention the comics themselves would hopefully be cheaper.
It'll ultimately depend on what stuff is added to purchase, but I'll be surprised if Yaira doesn't do at least $1.5/$2 million. But as mentioned a lot of campaigns have been doing less than their prior ones. Might be economy. Might be something else.
As for the employees/warehouse itself. I recall Eric talking about the possibility of doing a fulfillment service of his own at some point. Which would or could mean extra money between launches.
But at the end of the day, if he ends up going out of business in a year or two. He had a good run while it lasted.
Not sure if this Erwin guy is baiting or actually retarded. He somehow thinks making $3million in sales for a completed product is somehow the same thing as someone tossing you $3million in the hopes they get something at the end of the day. He's even demanding a random poster to audit Eric's expenses like that's shit he has access to. Dude needs to stop huffing paint, it's destroying his brain.
I think he's just retarded, but it's hard to tell with some of these people. On the other end you have reply guys that really think they're smart and clever. It's sad really.
That is exactly how EVS sold this campaign by the way. A fast and simple test campaign so Keown can get paid quickly and then maybe they can do more projects together. Probably his most embarrassing campaign after ribbit coin imo. This guy can't even sell Dale Keown posters.
Just looked and it does look like he added trading cards in the last month or two. Also can't purchase from it now I guess. So maybe it's been sent to the printer? Would be nice if he updated the campaign instead of being required to watch 5-hour streams in hopes you catch an update.
Also, is this the thing that ruined the relationship between EVS and Patrick Parnell?
