I don't think you understand what "leading someone on" means. Being attractive to someone and not returning their advances isn't leading someone on. Leading someone on would be if you accepted and responded to their advances while having no actual intention of dating/fucking/doing whatever with them.

Well I just feel that way, just by being friendly and making small conversation when I run into them. When I ask about them or their interests they get so happy. Then I feel a bit guilty afterward. Did I just lead them on? Did I show too much interest? As a guy you aren't really sure what signals you are sending out to girls.

Given the level of social ineptitude you've shown thus far, I would wager that it's much more likely that these women are just being more friendly with you because you look more put together and less like someone who might break into their houses and stab them to death, and any romantic interest is just you misreading normal friendliness because you aren't used to women talking to you. Most people like talking about themselves and their interests, it's normal for someone to get happy when someone asks about them.

Ultimately, unless you're interested in dating or fucking one of these women, there's no reason to worry about any attraction they have towards you.
