Not Just Bikes / r/fuckcars / Urbanists / New Urbanism / Car-Free / Anti-Car - People and grifters who hate personal transport, freedom, cars, roads, suburbs, and are obsessed with city planning and urban design

This looks like it was written by some schizo, no wonder Reddit loves it.
That document looks like something that was made in a Model UN club that can be found at every College ever.
It’s obviously written by an anti-globalist schizo. The scary thing is that rather than mocking the author for being out there, they unironically support implementing all the tyrannical plans that the paper warns about. They therefore end up proving that the “crazy” person is correct.

I wish they were handled this way in more countries.
Perhaps. I've noticed that protesters only seem to block highways in the most cucked of areas (deep blue cities in deep blue states). I don't think that Atlanta, Austin, or most other non-West Coast cities (Chicago, Washington DC, New York, and Boston being exceptions) would put up with that bullshit.

I bet they are all bugmen who has never step foot into the country and never learned how to be independent. Atleast when I was raised in thd suburbs/cities I was able to talk to the Rural folk, these guys have NO clue that without farmers there would be no food.

I bet they hate guns too.

The reason that the project is "ending" is because the $150 million of federal subsidies for it are contingent on the buses running in exclusive lanes.

Also, per the Senator (who by the way, represents Indianapolis), the city wasn't creating one bus lane, but rather three:
IndyGo’s current plan would reduce lanes available to vehicles by 60% along Washington Street. The Blue line would eliminate one lane of travel each direction and remove the turn lane in the middle of the street and dedicate those three lanes to use by an IndyGo bus only.

"I am all for public transportation if it's done responsibly, and I am all for a bus service, but I am firmly against taking away 60% of lanes of travel from the commuting public," Freeman said. "Creating bus-only dedicated lanes on an already hectic Washington Street – which runs straight through the heart of our city – would increase traffic problems for the vast majority of those who don't ride IndyGo. It would also hurt Washington Street businesses by making it harder for customers to reach them."
Also, no one actually rides the bus and it does not have the passenger volume necessary to have dedicated lanes:
Freeman added that IndyGo ridership is nowhere close to what was promised leading up to the referendum in 2016. In 2023, ridership totaled just over two thirds of their pre-pandemic riders, and even with the slump in riders the budget for IndyGo steadily increases.
It's also incredibly expensive (likely due to corruption):
Further, the anticipated cost of building the Blue Line – even with recent adjustments to reduce spending – has ballooned by 70% since the initial projection. IndyGo now says the project could cost up to $390 million.

From the article (archive), here are the community members for and against the bus lanes:
For:
Some of the individuals who testified against the bill on Tuesday referenced the death of Hannah Crutchfield during their testimony, stressing that her death could have been prevented by a dedicated lane for public transportation vehicles. According to previous reports, Crutchfield died in September 2021 after she was killed by a reckless driver on Washington Street.
“Hannah’s death, which we are close family friends with the Crutchfields, would have likely been prevented by the calming effect of the Blue Line,” Sarah Bales, an Irvington resident, said in her testimony.
“We have had too many close calls to count. Drivers who almost hit us in the crosswalk because they are turning without even considering where we might be,” Michelle Pleasant, an Irvington resident, said during her testimony. “We see the danger. It is real, and it is personal.”
Against:
“If Washington Street is cut down to one lane in each direction, this will have a bad effect on all business,” Tom Silnes, owner of Bridgeport Starter and Alternator, said during his testimony. “Some of them may be forced out of business. And I think it will lower our property value.”
Business owner Rachel Hawkins said she believes having bus stations in the middle of Washington Street would not be a safer alternative.
“For the people who think Washington Street will be safer, and this project will prevent tragic accidents, I would say the bus stations in the middle of the street isn’t safer,” Hawkins said. “Semi and vehicle traffic diverting into residential side streets isn’t safer. And traffic congestion that will encourage acts of road rage is not safer.”
Notice how the business owners give actual reasons whereas the urbanists, who live in a suburban neighborhood, just make vague claims about safety?

Now for some funny comments:

Gary, Indiana is famous for it's walkable neighborhoods. lmao:

They were just complaining about losing a $150 million subsidy:

Big Oil's money is the only reason why people disagree with them:

"Rural counties" like Marion (county seat is Indianapolis):

Or you could have just driven yourself:

How can they possibly have cheap housing? Only cities like Amsterdam are dense enough to have affordable housing!

I had some sympathy for them until I realized that it was the area's state senator who sponsored the bill and remembered that they have no qualms about regulating how other people live.

Can't make this up.
The top post today on /r/fuckcars (by /u/jaxsonthefurry) claims that Amsterdam is superior to every American city because it has legal prostitution:

Surprisingly, this post attracted a lot of negative comments about the Holy City:

Thank you for writing this out in full, because OP seems like a teenager who once saw a 3-minute video about Amsterdam.

At least he's being honest. Jury's still out on Jason, it's something he never talks about, but we all have our suspicions (perhaps having a bit of a "blue light special").

Wait a minute...
PhilosophyTube outed himself as being a member of the HexCorp sex cult by wearing a HexCorp hoodie in his recent Urbanism video with Not Just Bikes.
It's a bit like the Korps that Kevin's in, except with full face gas masks and cat ears. Also they have an "Order Of Our Rubber Devotion" where they try to become mindless sex drones while dressed as nuns. Notably Ollie has been wearing latex fetishwear in a few of his videos, including a full latex nun habit. He is possibly using his limited company to purchase latex fetishwear to avoid paying tax on his Patreon income.
The Korps that this thread documents, a lolcow that's also an urbanist?
Hi, I stumbled across this cow in the wild over at the Not Just Bikes / urbanists thread.
