It depends also on the level of the nobility. There was no real "middle class" back then but the nobles from far away from the seats of power and less rich would be more likely to have more connection to the local peasants and know them directly instead as of just people who live in their land.

This is an alarm from the NYT and code for them to convict Trump in NYC, and just jail him for the entire election season. But the Trump curse could be so powerful he might get three people on the jury to actually make it a mistrial.

it was the big land barons, the zuckerbergs and bezos's of the time that could get away with everything. the lower nobility and the monarch or emperor were usually "friends" of the peasants, to counteract the pull of the super rich. for most of the medieval age monarchs were not at all more powerful than their most powerful subjects. it wasn't until absolutism and divine right (a resurrected roman idea really) came along that the power of the monarch became supreme.

I hope Trump is able to take the nuclear option that he avoided in the 2018-19 government shutdown and just cuts chunks out of an unfunded government. It would be a dozen birds with one stone.

We're also talking about a period that spans a thousand years and entire continent encompassing a variety of ethnic groups (not natives, though, Somalis are native to Europe). There's no one rule.

Call me a stupid retard, but for something that I've been hearing "is unsustainable" for a couple of decades, I'd dare say it's very sustainable. Yes, nothing is real and everything is funny money that means nothing but... everyone is playing the same retarded game. So it all ends up being a very derranged Mexican standoff where nobody has the balls to talk about the very big elephant in the room

This is without mentioning how a lot of shit is working purely out of inertia, that won't be stopped that easilly. To my absolute bafflement, after the chinkipox, things are still operating on Just In Time logic as far as I understand. So if a worldwide paralysis of the economy for a couple of years with actual physical material distribution becoming a mess, funny money changing hands like it has for decades won't cause it.

I had this interaction once with this liberal boomer. Dude was complaining to me about those trump supporters, wants to stuff them all in texas, made the claim that they all just had "different morality than me" implying they're just evil and he "couldn't understand why anyone supports trump" and when I asked him if maybe it was a lack of trying hard enough to figure out the issue he made the claim that "I looked at it every which way listened to everyone I could and I just didn't get it"

Later on in the conversation got him to reveal he didn't even know that ~13 percent of trump supporters were former obama supporters a lot of who voted for obama twice. This contradicts the idea that he "looked at it every which way" when he doesn't know this one basic fact about over a tenth of trump supporters.

overall my impression is that they really can't conceptualize why anyone would think anything outside of approved msnbc/cnn talking points.

twilight is kinda off translation tho. "dämmerung" means dusk/dawn (one of the rare occasions where german doesn't have an extra word for something), usually distinguished by context or putting a prefix beforehand (like "morning-twilight").

however the implication that the day ends even for the gods at some point is when shit gets real.

Be wary of polls and even displays of incompetence from the Biden admin. We've all lived through the 2020 and 2022 elections, don't count your chickens before they hatch. There are people and organizations that will carry water for Biden until they can't anymore.
