On a more serious note, in my neck of the woods, I am seeing more and more, "We can't keep the warehouses full! Business is booming!" This sort of thing is often the prelude to massive inflation. .
Despite all the dooming I'm exposed to online, the latest couple earning seasons have been absolutely incredible for most public companies. So many companies just mooning green the day after earnings.
A. The Will Stancils (Sieg heil, mein Stancilführer!) of the world are right, nothing ever happens, and we're dooming for nothing in the middle of the best economy of the 21st century, say thank you to Biden.
B. Something is terribly wrong.

Be wary of polls and even displays of incompetence from the Biden admin. We've all lived through the 2020 and 2022 elections, don't count your chickens before they hatch. There are people and organizations that will carry water for Biden until they can't anymore.
I know things can change quickly, it's still a long way out. I was burned pretty bad by the lackluster 2022 for sure. Sometimes you can't get a good read on things until the month before an election. But for now, things are looking good.

given the cost of living, im inclined to go with B. I feel its just price gouging at this point with a lot of things.

inflation means there is more money to go around. they'd be topping records by doing nothing different at all. from what i have read all this extra spending is people using their savings and using credit for basic purchases.

Surely inflation means that retailers have to pay more for the products as well, keeping the profits stable? Otherwise a competitor could trivially undercut their prices, right? I guess I'll have to dig through the actual earnings reports myself.

Personally, I read articles like this and while i dont like reporters or time, it really gets my noggin joggin about what is really going on.

Remember, boys and girls, the people planning to run away and hide in bunkers think that all they have to do is drink wine and talk about how great they are. Their armed security is invulnerable, there are no weak spots to their plans, and they hired only the best people to design everything.

There will be no exposed air intaxes/exhaust outputs or anything like that.

And always remember: Their big goal isn't to survive, it's to come out and take over.

So feel free to drop a dumptruck worth the gravel in front of the door of their bunker.

Stay a while.

Stay

Forever.

Republicans stupidly made abortion their issue in 2022 and there are many conservatives that don’t want draconian abortion laws. The economy wasn’t in the shitter either and the tugboats were still being sent so people could worry about things like abortion and people using the bathroom they identify with.

Now things are different. We‘re losing full time jobs to part time jobs at a record pace. People are taking on multiple jobs and massive debt just to tread water. Necessities keep going up in price. The county is being flooded with cheap, exploitable labor. Young people have given up on the economy and are doom spending. Meanwhile the powers that be are telling us to not believe our lying eyes and things are better than ever.

When economic times are tough people stop caring about things like abortion and preferred pronouns.

All it takes is the security to dislike them enough to push them inside without the key.

And someone will always eventually be willing to do that.

If supply doesn't go up, but demand does, then prices go up. You can be mad and whine about greed, but empty shelves aren't sustainable.

Midterms are driven by the base, and the base was extremely upset with The Steal and, more broadly, how the lawless government had behaved during the Trump administration and immediately after. The GOP decided to punt on all that and just not address it at all, giving the voters the entirely correct impression that the party doesn't give a shit about them.

I hope you have at least a Ruger .22 or something, we're in for a rough time. (joking, I know you're ok)

It also takes awhile to get rid of the people causing issues in the party and changing the direction. Which was taking place in that time. We saw some of those results in 22. We’ll see if the rest can secure 24.

I did some math a while back on some things too.

Shitty sliders that's recipe is literally only: french onion dip powder, mayo, sweet relish, hawaiian rolls, garlic butter, ground beef, etc. for an entire party went from like ~15 bucks to like 25.

Cheesecakes went from 10 to 15 and that's from premade fillings/pie fillings/ shells because I'm lazy to making each little thing by myself

A literal fucking denver omlette went from being so miniscule in costs I can't even measure it to like 7 bucks. Which is somehow comparable to just buying it at a local fucking diner.

And this math is all going from buying local to buying walmart bulk shit too.

But the cope for the whole "just cook bro" crowd is hillarious to me.

The same faggotry is infecting literally everything. It's just that 50% of 5 bucks isn't as horrible as 50% of 20.
Californians food prices where compatible to city's in the Midwest last I traveled about a month ago

Biden didn't campaign and was still the most popular politician in world history. He'll win easily again unless things are so bad they let Orange Man have it so they can blame everything on him.

A bad plan is better than no plan and the GOP made sure that they had no plan to the maximum extent practical in 2022. They were loath to give any kind of scraps to Trump’s base but they knew neoconservatism was less popular than herpes. So they were willing to throw an entire election away. Gives some insight to how 2024 is going to play out, especially when their poojeet princess is hanging out despite nobody wanting her around, just like herpes. I absolutely would not put it past them to try to crash and burn the election to spite Trump and his base just so they can be spared the indignity of being considered the Party of Trump when they attend beltway parties.
