It was just fan modders. But people have forgotten how overly protectivr Microsoft were of their IPs back then. Both projects in Generals, Empire at War and Homeworld got served with cease and desist letters and removed from hosting sites
It still goes to show you how much I've forgotten all about it

• Episode starts with recap. Intro is skipped.
• After the recap, Vannak is climbing a ladder; he meets some pigeons up top. Benny, Jenny, and Lenny, then Keith he says begrudgingly. He's feeding them, then explosions happen in the distance.
• Great Value Master Chief and Perez are running through the city in a cut to a differnt scene. GVMC heads going straight and is knocked down from an explosion. Perez B lines towards her home, also hit by an explosion's blast.
• GVMC picks her up (They're okay, nothing too serious in injuries), and despite Perez wanting to see her family, GVMC urges her to proceed forward.
• Camera pans to some tower on Reach (Reach city btw, lets not forget this for no reason aside form a stupid fucking name). Then it's the intro. This cold open was longer than the prior ones.
• Subtitles also confirmed the language in the show that sounds like Space Hebrew is Sangheli, but in season 1 the prophets also spoke it? I think the prophets are too arrogant to learn Sangheli, so I'm gonna keep calling it Space Hebrew. Also doesn't sound like Reach/CE.
• Cut's to Soren staring at a cup of tea with Halsey in holoprison. A small rumble is heard and and Soren asks, "Tell me you didn't hear that one?"
• Another rumble, this one larger. Halsey plays coy with how Soren feels about her, and says she's glad to see him. Soren implies he's thought about killing her multiple times in his head (rather what he would do in this situation). A larger rumble happens and the hologram cuts.
• As it drops, Halsey yells at Soren that a field perimeter is still active and is enough to kill him. Soren strolls right out without giving a fuck, turns around and says, "See you around."
• Cut to GVMC and Perez who are on a stairwell. She's breaking down, GVMC is trying to calm her down. She is very upset because of her family. GVMC needs to get to Fleetcom grab his gear and get with the defensive force. He gives Perez an out, but she keeps going with him. (Perez is the comms girl as a reminder)
• They enter some populated social area thing, It's weird, it's like trying to be low key cyberpunkish. There's concrete all around but neon lights and club music in the backgorund. Perez tries to warn people to get out, but GVMC stops her and reminds her of their mission: Fleetcom.
• People start getting tossed around by faint shimmers of light.
• GVMC just straight up tackles and invisible Elite through a window. He gives two right hooks to the Elite who is on the ground, and then the Elite's hand is grabbing GVMC's face. (Side note: The Elite's armor is all still washed out, it looks silver with lines of crimson or maybe some gold. It's not vibrant like in the games). GVMC snaps the elite's fingers apart, and picks up a shard of glass or a knife. Stabs, slashes the Elite and engages in hand to hand combat. GVMC is flung through a table, and then Perez stabs the elite. GVMC grabs the Elite by his mandibles (arguably pretty funny), and stabs him with a piece of wood from the table... Or shoves the wood into the Elite's mouth? Blurry camera work, and the Elite's back is towards the camera. It's hard to tell, the only distinct clue that it was wood was the sound of wood being super imposed in editing. The Elite dies.
• People are running away, and an Elite makes a noise that sounds like, "Gwoo! Gwoo!" then a cloaked elite jumps up on some ledges to higher ground like Spiderman.
• Chief direct Perez which way to run, and then power cuts out in that area.
• Cut to Halsey and Soren wondering the out of power holoprison. Halsey lets him know she knows the way out, he doesn't trust him, but she calls his bluff. Soren says "Shit!" and ends up following Halsey.
• Cut back to GVMC and Perez as a plasma bolt causes some sparks to fly, as they runup another stairwell.
• More sounds of plasma. Sparks, and fire. They enter a door and prepare to ambush an Elite if one is following. Strange noises heard in the background. Nothing enters.
• The room appears to be some sort of workshop. GVMC pulls a shanking tool, and is holding the axe he grabbed when he entered the room.
• Perez is astounded about how calm he is, and she talks about it. GVMC tells the coin story to her, how he called eleven heads when he was a child with Halsey.
• Perez, "Lucky?" GVMC, "Maybe. I wasn't guessing. I knew."
• GVMC talks about how when he goes into battle, he knows he can always lose someone, but it's not going to be him... Despite practically dying the last season.
• Glass is heard breaking, and they investigate. A gunshot is fired in their direction. They're in an antique shop. The axe being used is 600 years old, there's a cool ivory looking sword on display, an original xbox, and some CRT TVs.
• Some old lady who owns the shop, talks bout how people cut trees with it and used wood for fuel. Lady doesn't give a shit, and tells him about a typewriter that's too heavy for her. She has GVMC put a typewriter on the top shelf.
• GVMC offers to take her to Fleetcom, she's worried about her stuff still. Perez says it doesn't matter. Which she's right. Old lady rambles about some old shit, seen six wars, it "fought communism, fascism, all the isms" Which means whatever fucking thing she's talking about fought trannyism. Which is based.
• Perez asks if she understands. Old lady doesn't answer. GVMC states that she does understand. Old lady is going down with her shop.
• Cut back to Soren and Halsey. Halsey elaborates after Soren asks what the holoprison is. The incarceration is the secondary purpose. First one is experimentation and interrogation. ONI access only. OH EN EYE again.
• Louder rumbles. Soren says they're getting closer. Halsey asks how his kid is. He doesn't want to talk to her about it. She says Soren when he was young used to climb a lot. She presumably lies and lets him know her questioning is purely scientific. For what it's worth, I think Halsey's actress does a great job portraying Halsey.
• Soren was apparently the most driven spartan. The others had to be recruited, according to Halsey. Soren interjects: "Kidnapped". Halsey still talks about how he wanted to be a spartan from the get go.
• Halsey mentions how ambitious he was, and then she had to let him go due to his accident. Soren retorts that he escaped her and made a life for himself in spite of her. I'm thinking maybe she knew of his escape that was show in Season 1 and she decided not to have him killed. Seems kind of implied.
• The two see some bodies, despite looking like they have bullet wounds (it's very red. The backup power low light thing. Think Batman Beyond batplane interior), it's plasma. Halsey hands Soren a Gock 40 problem solver. I can't tell what firearm it's based on. It is not the Halo CE magnum/Reach/3 magnum. Halsey asks him not to shoot her in the back, Soren replies, "no promises". He takes a grenade.
• Cut to GVMC and Perez. A marine is shooting at Covie forces offscreen on a warthog. The gunner gets sent flying backwards. Plasma bolt firing. They take cover behind the warthog.
• Bolts of plasma get shot in their direction, as the camera pans up and shows Fleetcom is evacuating. They run through plasma and explosions and link up with other marines.
• One marina is on a turret ala Halo 3 and GVMC says, "I need a weapon" But without the cool delivery that the real MC does. He picks up a Battle Rifle. It's not the HORRENDOUS halo 4/5 model. I think they linked up with Riz (braids) and the albino black guy spartan (or former spartan/failed spartan candidate?) I think, I can't tell. Yeah it's him. The dude's blind and he's using his ears to shoot? WHO THE FUCK LET THE BLIND GUY USE A GUN?
• GVMC has the goal of getting the other marines evacuated. He leads a team of them. Perez also has a battle rifle.
• The battle rifles are full auto not burst...
• An explosion on the buildings above kill two or three Elites who had the high ground. Also a marine got blasted by plasma right before.
• They enter some sort of hall way, there is a UNSC poster with who I'm persuming to be GVMC as the poster boy (it's Chief's halo 2/3/I helmet)
• An Elite barges through the wall with an energy sword, and gets lit up. It kind of looks like he has crimson armor, but the lighting is bad and can't tell. Would be neat if the cloaked ones had the silver armor like in CE, and this was a major. But I doubt the producers cared enough to differentiate. They did however get the purple blood correct.
• Two more Elites follow, and lit up. One flanks and gets shot to death. GVMC pulls out his own Glock 40 problem solver and gets an Elite right in his heel before heading up the stairs while reloading. Braids provides cover fire. They frag like two or three more elites. Stray plasma bolts kill some no name soldiers before GVMC shoots out a window and they jump.
• Gay Albino guy's husband is dead. Three more Elites charge the hallway, Braids throws a frag, and jumps out the window. Not a bad action shot in terms of camera work. She falls, she staggers for a bit probably because she's still injured overall.
• They're back in the street. Listen, I just gotta start calling Gay Albino Black Man "Craig" because he looks just like a Halo Infinite Brute. I'm not even making a joke about his race or anything, just like literally looks just like Craig. ANYWAY, Craig asks here Danillo (fag #2) is. Braids informs him of his death.
• "Wraith!" is shouted out from the marines.
• Behind Braids and Craig more Elites are marching towards them as plasma obscures the shot that would be really fucking cool. Shit's blurry AF, probably to hide the CGI faults.
• Craig is planning to sacrifice himself.
•Finally the wraith is in focus, and it's the good ol' 2/3 Wraith. Apparently Craig had enough explosives on him to just blow up like that.
• Cut to Halsey and Soren. They come across Cortana (I still don't like her face). Mackee (I still don't like her everything), grabs Cortana, and another Elite with an energy sword walks towards Halsey and Soren after slashing some sort of glass barrier. Soren throws a frag, they exit, and the shockwave still throws them back.
• Perez and GVMC are at some makeshift base. Riz is kind of shocked at the damage people have suffered. She's told to suit up. I think they're at Fleetcom. Perez asks if that's it. Chief tosses her a coin for good luck, and calls heads. Enter Vanack.
• Vanak lets them know he cleared out the lower levels and some cloaked Elites snuck in.
• They wonder where Kai is. Presumably out hunting.
•They don't have their Mjolnir , Vanak explains high ranking personal have evacuated.
• "Admiral" Keys is in charge. He was kind of hoping GVMC was dead to not hear the "I told you so", and admits that Cobalt died at Visegrad and when it went down it left a blind spot. They're trying to defend the power stations so the MAC array stays up because this is a deterrent to Covenant fleet.
• Getting a Scorpion up is one of Keye's priorities. He doesn't understand the bullshit going on with the higher ups, he doesn't care. He's in it to fight. Keyes is aite in my book.
• His goal is to evac as many as he can. GVMC is told the plan, creating a choke point, something called "Thermopalaye".
• Cut to Soren and Halsey, she's complaining about her ears from the nade. Soren helps her up, then eh grabs her again, and asks "What do you mean let me go?"
• Halsey says everyone looked to Soren, but after his augmentation failed she needed GVMC to look up to himself. Soren doesn't believe it, but then Halsey explains, "Why do you think nobody was guarding the ships when you escaped."
• Cut to show Reach from an Ariel pov of the city being shot with plasma.
• Perez is going through some minor shell shock standing where she is aloof.
• A medic calls her over to help, the marine on the table is missing his leg. Perez is tasked with evacuating people.
• Keyes is kinda dressed like Captain Cutter. He has GVMC hold his hat and assembles marine for a speech.
• I'm sorry but I'm not transcribing his speech. Just know he's giving one. Although he lets them know that whoever stands with them will not survive the day. He calls GVMC to the stage and introduce him as Master Chief. The speech continues, he's making it clear the goal is to let innocent people escape. His speech is a success, the crowd roars.
• Keyes is ready to fight on the front line. GVMC doesn't want him to fight because he needs good people like Keyes giving orders rather than Ackerson.
• GVMC now has an AR. Looks like the CE or 3 one.
• Outside of fleet com, plasma is bombarding, and the planet is on fire.
• They're holding down a bridge to Fleetcom. Out rolls that Scorpion mentioned earlier.
• GVMC: "Here they come."
• Cut to Halsey and Soren who have entered Fleetcom. Halsey says hello to Keyes. Awkward silence. Soren has a comical entrance into the conversation. He asks how to get off the planet, Keyes lets him know there's a civilian transport in a hangar above. Soren proclaims he's a civilian. Keyes retorts, "You're a pirate." Soren with the last word, "Small Business Owner." I would much rather a B plot with Soren than with Kwan.
• The three enter an elevator, then cut back to the bridge. Vanak wonders where they are. GVMC orders the scorpion to shoot a round of white phosphorous on the bridge, and then that shot reveals a horde of Elites on the bridge.
• Plasma and bullets fly, then cut to the other trio.
• They're in an elevator, ala Mass Effect 1 with a hint of Breaking Bad's dinner scene. Soren is in the middle. Halsey has just asked if Miranda is on Reach. She's not. Keyes can't tell her where she is. Soren tells them to get a room. Keyes wonders what she's doing with this "person". It's an upgrade for Soren because 3 minutes ago he was just a pirate. Another scene carried by Soren.
• Halsey let's Keyes know the Covenant has Cortana, and that it was Makee and a sangheli.
• Yup, so they addressed it, "Makee's dead." "Apparently not."
• Soren hears something, and pulls out his Glock 40 problem solver. Halsey is in the unknown and Soren is continuing to walk forward.
• A horde of jackals have scaled up the hangar, they look like the 4/5 reptilian jackals, that one subspecies. Some have plasma pistols, the others have those cool energy blades on their wrists.
• Cut to bridge scene. Plasma and bullets ocnsider to take fire. Both sides are taking losses.
• Keyes on the radio states the hangar is under attack.
• Silver team goes to help with the hangar. Soren gets his battle rifle. Perez lets Keyes know all civilians are on board. Keyes starts up the ship, but the fuel lines are connected. He rushes out to disconnect them.
• Jackals are kinda just staring at him. They ahve him surrounded. According to the subtitles they also speak sangheli. It's not translated.
• Keyes gives the order for Perez to punch the ship and get them off.
• One jackal looks vastly different compared to the others. A greener/grey skin tone.
• Soren hauls Halsey off as she screams because she wants to protect Keyes/help Keyes.
• Keyes puts in a pipe, and asks if the Jackals have a light. The squad leader of the jackals (The one that looks very different) Stands up straight. Silver team is briefly reunited with Halsey and Soren then an explosion happens as Keyes blew himself up to take all the jackals out. Perez gets the civilians out.
• Halsey and Soren look out of the newly installed window at Reach as it burns. She begins to cry as plasma bolts rain from the sky, and then behind them another explosion that knocks a few marines down.
• More jackals enter and the UNSC has to back up. Some marine gets stabbed by a jackal. Two different instances.
• A sangheli that was with them dies. Silver team and UNSC are holding them off then an Elite roars.
• A trio of Elites enter, this one has blue armor instead of that dulled out grey armor the others are using. He's much larger.
• GVMC rushes at him, they engage in combat. They're 1v1ing. His AR gets cut in half.
• GVMC picks up an Energy Sword.
• Another Elite shoots GVMC with a plasma pistol (This one is fully rendered and colored unlike in season 1).
• Big Elite (I think it's Gun'whatever" from the last episode) beheads the other Elite. He's about to kill GVMC, but FUCKING MAKEE intervenes and tells him to stop, "No. Not yet."
• Vanak charges at him, picks up a needler, a spike impales the Elite's armor, he yanks that shit out and grabs Vanak. He fucking stabs him with one singular needler needle and Vanak blows up and dies. Makee's stupid ass everying escapes with big Elite, as the human survivors pull back GVMC. The Elite looks back one last time as sad (not halo music, but hey at least it's a composition by Bear McReary.
• Man they should have killed Riz, she's boring. Kai and Vanak are the better two spartans. Anyway, Vanak's body lies on thne ground as the camera pans up and a pigeon is flying around.

Honestly best episode of the entire series, arguably a low bar. Still not a bad episode. I'll give credit where credit is due, Vanak and Soren are acted well. Vanak is more of a Master Chief than Great Value Master Chief. Soren just carries whatever scene he's in. Also the best part about this entire episode? NO KWAN. Unfortunately however, Makee. The jackals looked okay, except the outlier one, This one just looks odd. I also wish the armor of the Elites was more vibrant. Also why would Sangheli #2 just interfere with Gun'whatevers duel? Sangheli are a very honor bound society, so like it seems strange one would even do that to begin with. The Beheading I understand because of the interference in an honorable one on one duel. This Keye's did a good job too. Felt like he had negative impact because of the way season 1 was, but you know what. He went out in a very Captain Keyes way. Although, does that mean Miranda will be the one who gets consumed by the Flood? Episode 8 of the show is titled Halo, so if there's a renewal, then like what happens? Also knowing this show and it's tendency to rename shit or replace shit, they probably won't escape on the Pillar of Autumn, but something like the Spire of Spring or some shit.

I remember back in the day, when I told people how badly I wanted the Sparrowhawk from Halo Wars to make its debut in the FPS games, I was told, "No, Todger, you can't have the Sparrowhawk. It's too powerful. It's imbalanced. It would dominate every battle. It would ruin the multiplayer. That's why you can't have it, even though you're salivating over it."

But that's exactly it. I don't just want to defeat the Covenant. I want to humiliate them.

Luckily, modders have us covered.

There's also a Beached Firefight mod.

Man, Halo mods are fun

So the new Didact book...

-Confirms Cortana was logic plague'd, an obvious retcon given that Frank O'Cuck insisted there was nothing wrong with her and she was acting on her own in Halo 5.
-Explains her going good again in Infinite. Didact talks to her and compares her to both himself and Mendicant Bias and appeals to her that way, a more coherent explanation than the... nothingness in infinite.
-Seems to imply that none of them were ever totally cured from the Flood influence.
-Gives an explanation for who/what the fuck Warden Eternal is (apparently some sort of hivemind of various different Forerunners)
-They seem to still be cockteasing a Flood return. I have no idea why as it's pretty obvious they're shying away from them because of the T rating.

Some of this is actually interesting and would've been nice to have in the games rather than as a collection of band-aid retcons in a book released years later that most people won't read, but again it's very likely they didn't come up with any of this until after the fact because they finally realized a lot of this stuff made no fucking sense. So them cramming important stuff in ancillary material is still a big problem.

Well, apparently they haven't fully written off the MCC yet, as a small patch went out sometime in the last week or so. No new content or anything, just a few bugfixes, the biggest one being Halo 2 Classic's hit registration. This fixed an issue where the hitscan range was halved due to the doubled tick rate in MCC. Kinda surprised it took that long to fix.

Well I hope all the ladies still playing failing Infinite, like 2 or 3 of them, appreciate this poorly made slop that looks like it was made in an afternoon.
I see what they're going for, but the armor just looks like some shitty ladybug or bargain bin 80s sentai show goons that appeared in one episode for like 10 minutes and were never seen again. What I am saying is that I don't see too many people running around with these skins in a couple of weeks.

When was the last time the game got an actual update worth talking about? Maps, game modes, weapons, that sort of thing, nobody gives two fucks about skins in a broken, dying game.

especially for Halo 1 where it adds so much atmosphere
yeah, the atmosphere of a colorblind slavjank's lego set. halo 1 anniversary is terrible looking and betrays the intended atmosphere of halo 1 by covering everything in washed out greeble and badly ported halo: reach models and textures.

Anniversary graphics were horribly broken on top of a deadened classic graphics from the PC port. You could even see textural collision from a distance.

The original Halo PC port had its fair share of issues, but my god, Halo CEA felt like a crumb flicked at the fans by a burnout caretaker.

"There you go, here's your token of appreciation, now fuck off while HALO 4 is on the horizon."

The 2010s became the decade where the OG Halo had an objectively shit port nobody could do anything about except laugh at.

• Episode starts with recap of past few episodes. Heavy focus on the Reach episode. Unfortunately Kwan was within the first few seconds of the recap.
• Episode then switches to Great Value Master Chief's pov. Blurred vision, deafened sound with the sounds of battle all around. Explosions and such.
• Riz calls out "chief!" and chief snaps out of it, he asks where Vannack is (Rip. He was cool).
•She elaborates they need to fall back. Soren asks where. They run back into the tunnel. Soren helps GVMC. Halsey being useless, says that it's not over. Some UNSC ships and pelicans (or condors) fly around.
•The fighting stops. Awkward Silence. Soren taunts them
•Soren taunts, "is that all you got?" And a brute drops through the ceiling. The Brute's armor looks decent. I think the muted colors work well for Brute armor, but please for the love of god make the Elite's more vibrant.
•Soren says, " I should have kept my mouth shut... But I don't regret it. No more regrets. Just like old times." I like to include when lines are delivered well and are kinda humurous (mainly Kai, Vannack, and Soren get this).
•They engage the brute, and he gravity hammers (no cool FWOOSH noise), and it destroys their concrete cover. They fly back a bit. The brute advances and gets torn to shreds by one of the UNSC ships, okay not torn to shreds, but takes damage from higher rounds. Soren claims he did it. Another Soren W.
• WAIT JUST A GODDAMN FUCKING MOMENT, it's his wife... HOW THE FUCK like how the flying fuck did they miraculously find the A plot crew????? If this is not explained, I'll be slightly peeved. Like how do they just casually enter the atmosphere of reach, and know Soren was there? jfc.
• Soren says he'll never hear the end of this. Cut to more jackals approaching from the fog. Cut to GVMC wounded and nearly passed out, Soren goes for him, asking fo rhelp, AND ALL OF A FUCKING SUDDEN THE BAY DOOR OPENS AND KWAN IS HOLDING A MACHINE GUN, A GATLING GUN ALA HALO 3 TURRET, AND NOT BEING BLOWN BACK???? SHE'S LIKE 80 POUNDS.
• Door begins to close, Riz doesn't want to leave Vannack's body, they're onboard Soren's ship now btw, and she charges in with two pistols to pick up Soren. She emerges from the fog triumphantly carrying him (don't forget the focal point for her character this season are her wounds), and then she gets plasmad or something in the back and it propels her just enough. GVMC's wounds get treated by Halsey, as we cut to the episode one operation table thing, with Cortana saying "Chief, wake up." He's calling out Riz's name.
• Several flashback things from season 1, then he says, "save her", and cut to GVMC on the operating table from episode 1 again, but Perengosky is in the room. Listen, I think Perengosky is portrayed alright, but I'm tired of hearing this stupid fucking Indian accent. Cortana begs for them to help GVMC, as he flatlines on that ONI operating table, and Perengosky replies, "Depends, what are you willing to do for me?"
•Cut back to current time, GVMC passes out and intro begins.
• Cut to arguably the worst part of this episode already... Makee. She's staring at reach from a covenant ship, as it burns and she cries? Her face and haircut: Still absolutely fucking retarded. She begins speaking Space Hebrew with the elite. Yadda yadda, this was a great victory... yadda yadda this was no victory. The Elite (var'gannatai or whatever) drops exposition: They only have one sacred relic, and the Blessed One, has denied him. I'm assuming that's one of the prophets. Something something of the great journey, Var is gaining weary of it, GVMC is namedropped as the Demon like in main games, but she's protecting him. Well he claims that. She retorts she's not protecting him (but she did, this nigga can't perceive lies or some shit), but she says Var and her serve a higher purpose.
•Small break here before this scene continues, I honestly think I hate Makee more than I do Kwan. I hate both of them, but I think Makee edges out. Side tangent: The inside of the ship is not all cool and purple, it's generic looking... and greyish with warm white lights.
•Var reminds her that she only lives through his grace, and she's like aite nigga than kill me. He does not call her bluff. Also forgot to mention Var is on some sort of redemption journey of his own.
• She hands him Cortana in her little chip thing.
• GVMC and Riz are in a medical wing of Soren's ship. He can barely walk. But hey no Master Cheeks shot this time, he's wearing his pants still... Thank you new show runners. Halsey looks in at him and shuts his medical monitoring device up.
• GVMC says she shouldn't have gone back for Vannak. She knows better. She needs surgery but Halsey is lacking the tools.
• Halsey and GVMC talk about their conditioning, and how they don't pick or choose they follow orders. Halsey tries to tell him that spartans don't leave spartans behind. GVMC continues talking about how they were told what to do, who to kill, what to think. He asks Halsey what he is, and she retorts, he's not a machine, but GVMC counters that he's not human either as he has no life or family.
•He angrily tells Halsey to tell him what she sees when looking at Riz, a human or a weapon to be left on the battle field. GVMC is very angy. Very Master Chief of him, you know, like when Master Chief got angry in the games ALL those times that he does... You get where I'm going with this.
• GVMC talks about how they were left there, no evac, no armor, and that ONI (not Oh En Eye - someone finally pronounced it Oney!!!). Halsey knew or she understands what they did, could be either. They talk about the planet briefly, but it's revealed he was in a coma for two days, as Halsey induced it. GVMC immediately wants to go back to rescue them. She touches his face, he has a fever, and she helps him to his medical cot. He gets an injection, while he talks about how he warned them about it, and if he had his armor. Halsey tells him it was a plan, and that "we" have to be invisible. GVMC retorts, "So it's we now?" Halsey replies something along the lines that it's always ben we.
• Honestly besides GVMC being angy, the conversation wasn't bad. I think this implies Halsey knew of the plan, I wouldn't doubt if Ackerson told her as he thought she was gonna die anyway.
• Cut to Makee talking to Cortana... Man, as much as I dog on GVMC, I can at least see him as master chief at times, but this new Cortana's face I just fucking can't. What's with this show casting unattractive women for major roles? Listen, I don't even know what pejorative prefix to give to this Cortana. Botched surgery Cortana? Chineese Knock Off Cortana, Windows 10 Cortana, Deviant Art Cortana, maybe this one? I digress, but man just compare the two fucking models. ANYWAY, Makee can't summon her, and then just casually on a covenant ship she projects her self through ??? I don't know. It's like ending of Halo 4 hard light, where she's out on non UNSC technology, but it's forerunner, so it makes sense. As much as 343s writing permits of course. But she's just out and about somehow in alien technology. She tells Makee she can just press the little button, while walking around in the covenant ship (not purple).
• It's the command Vessel of the esteemed zealot Var'Gatanai, former supreme commander of the first fleet of Solemn Accord. At least they have the dope ass naming convention the Covenant use down. Also confirms him as Arbiter. Cortana introduces herself.
•Cortana is immediately asked what GVMC means to her, they work together (she stuttered), they're still doing that romance shit I guess jfc. She then yells in Space Hebrew to show her memory of the rings. Cortana refuses, and says it doesn't belong to you in Space Hebrew. I'm not mad at this, I mean I hate how they make sangheli sound like, but I totally believe Cortana in main canon would learn a language in milliseconds. Makee says if Cortana is not useful to her, she (Makee) will not be useful to the heirarchs, and Makee bitches in Space Hebrew, she knows what happens to things that are not useful. Scene ends with Makee lamenting that there are all kinds of prisons.
•Jumpscare from GVMC's POV of Kwan hovering over him. He talks in his sleep. Soren is also there. They're going to Aleria. Soren and Wife want to meet up with the kid.
•Kwan leads GVMC to a room. She stays with him at night, every night. It's Vannacks dead body. I'll miss Vannack. I could argue he was more like the game Master Chief than any other actor here.
•GVMC doesn't care, doesn't look. Kwan tries to point out that he was his friend, but GVMC explains that it's just a body, but shouldn't GVMC but moderately emotional since he no longer has the chip? That's like a very emotionally inhibited thing he would say, but that got removed during the Master Cheeks scene.
• Halsey talks medical babble to doctors regarding Riz as they wheel her to an OR.
• Soren , Wife, and Kwan head out to do something. Camera points to a bird (rip Vannack).
• They enter a bar or store, talking to an Irishman. I think they're seeking information about Kessler... I was correct. I think the Irishman insinuates something about kidnapping, and the price they fetch.
• Irishman brings up smalltalk about reach, says he saw it coming a mile way, UNSC never gave a shit about the outer colonies. Soren is humoring him. They find the boy's name in the ledger and request all the info.
•Kwan brings GVMC a jacket. In good lighting, she no longer has that stupid ass haircut. Thank god. She also hands him a shovel and wants to bury Vannack. But according to GVMC you don't bury a spartan. Spartan's don't say goodbye. Kwan I think is the writer's vehicle to demonstrate a spartan's lack of humanity, but once again in comparison to the real chief, he's always cared about his fellow man. Kwan is mad at him for not understanding this, and goes to bury it himself.
• Soren and spacers are on a buggy, he's making small talk with the people who have to clean up some land and then they get it. Wife is mad and nags at him for not being boohoo sad that Reach go wiped out, then deals a lowblow: He ran from the spartan program, he ran from Rubble, etc. She wants him to be sad with her? then she goes to another seat. Jeez lady, also she looks like an alien. I just want to point that out. She throws away this white wig she was wearing the whole time.
• Riz wakes up. She says Halsey looks the same when she woke up from her augmentations when she was 14. Halsey said 1 out of 3. So many better spartans than her died from the augments. She gets up again no matter what, and Halsey taught her to never quit. She lets Riz know the damage is significant, and that she'll have to work harder. Absolute cold line from Halsey. I dig that scene.
• Cut to Kwan dragging Vannack's corpse to an empty plot of soil. She's struggling cus he's huge.
• Cut to Halsey telling GVMC Riz won't be the same, but will fight again. Chief says they're expendable. Halsey states that what happened on reach wasn't personal, or strategical, it was political. Chief lets her know it was Perengosky. The sacking of reach was about control and how the war will be fought. GVMC says Perengosky won. Across all timelines, and fictional universes I guess one thing stays the same... Fuck the glowies.
• Kwan is digging her hole, and lets Vannack's body know that whole planet is too much to grieve, I didn't catch the rest I was typing the above bullet point. Then mystery people in red attire come bearing torches.
• GVMC remembers it was Perengosky who took Cortana out, and Halsey asks how he knew that, and he says there's a void where a voice once was. GVMC asks how he was choosing, first being more vague, than more direct. Not worth transcribing. But then he here's the commotion outside with Kwan, and leaves Halsey, but lets her know it's not done yet.
•Red hood people say they can't bury him in the ground, and he has to be burned, they start chanting, and Soren's corpse is revealed and GVMC starts looking upset. Kwan lets him know this isn't death but it's loss. I legit thought the actor dude was gonna cry here. He tells her to put him in the sky.
• Soren and Wife arrive on the buggy at some silo. The wife looks so much better without that wig. They enter the silo, and there's a hut in the center. It's not like a grain silo, but a nuclear silo. Some lady enters, another lady with a shotgun says they're trespassing. The two space lesbians say they're not giving the boy up, and they insult Soren and wife, and possibly lie about how he was starving, and looked beaten up when he arrived.
• Wife gets mad, Soren drags her away. He's gonna go negotiate with the space lesbians, I think he's gonna kill em. Wife storms out.
•Soren's in their hut. The two space lesbians are like hording shit because they never know when the world is gonna end. Soren is making small talk about their allegedly good tea, and his upbringing. How it's tough to get things where they are, and that he knows how to get things.
•Wife hears footsteps and goes to investigate
•Space Lesbian #1 with shotgun says "our" boy isn't for sale. I would be giving this show too much credit if I even insinuated that it was low key trying to say the LGBTBBQ++ were involved in the buying and selling of children. Way too based for [current year].
• Soren comes clean, this was nothing like where he grew up, born in hell, raised without a family, food, protection. It's a voice over, while Wife finds Kessler with his Master Chief helmet on, Soren explains it's the loneliness that's the real killer because he could survive all the shit's he's been through. And that his boy will never know that feeling, the absence of love. He is grateful that they're the ones who took him in (guess I'm wrong about him killing them), and in time hed find love here.
• Helmet gets removed, and it's not Soren's boy. The helmet was giving to this random boy because Kessler saw he was scared, and then he tells Wife that "They" took him away.
• Soren is exiting, and that the space lesbians were gonna let them see Kessler, but she tells him it wasn't Kessler (there are two young boys being referenced in my recap, so I switched Kessler from "boy" to his name for clarity)
• Halsey is giving a eulogy for Vannack, but also Reach. Keyes is name dropped, and Vannacks last name is something sounding like "harmady". I don't have subtitles on. He was born on Tribute, he had a large family. Halsey met (kidnapped) him at 6. They would be proud. GVMC lets everyone know his family burryed him at 6, and that they never knew him but he did. His name was Vannack 134, a spartan, a brother, the only family that he ever knew. He was not an ordinary man, everything that he was, everything hat he gave, never dies. Riz is here btw, she shambled on out of her hospital bed. Anyway, GVMC says his war is not done, and he will find the ones who caused his death and end them while some great string instruments play in the background. It's not Halo ost, but it's something by Bear McReary. It's a solid sounding track. GVMC then pulls a Star Wars Episode 6 Vader funeral and ignites his corpse then walks away. Halsey tries to talk some sense into GVMC about how the hell is he gonna get to Perengosky or Anderson when he doesn't know where they are.
• She gets his full attention when she says she didn't choose him, she found him, and talks about Halo - I'm not sure how she knows this, this could be a season 1 thing, something about his dumb visions he had, and he told Halsey or maybe the superior looking Cortana told her about it? Something was left in chief, he has some sort of calling? GVMC can take them to the Halo and it will be the survival of the human species.
•Tangent time: I would have REALLY preferred if it was closer to the main cannon where they discover it by accident, it adds more mystery. Season 1 screwed the pooch in this regard, but if they saved his stupid ass vision for the last episode, a new viewer with 0 Halo knowledge would be a bit more enthralled, because what was it? what does it mean? Let them make their own assumptions instead of Halsey planting one in their minds, but she's not wrong. Technically the Halo rings do hold the life of species on them (if I recall right) in those squares we see in Infinite. So I mean if it's later revealed down the road that it does preserve life, but also nuke galaxy, then there's one less interesting reveal. It's 2am I'm ranting a lot. As I said, just discover it by accident and let that mystery unfold with maybe some seeds planted in a reworked season 1, idk.
• Anyhow, so she warns him that if she goes after ONI himself, he puts the survival of their species at risk. Bonus points: Halsey said Oney, not Oh En EyE! Two in one episode. GVMC gives a pretty good one liner back at Halsey, "I'm already dead". It's not in the edgy broody teenager sense, but the fact he's more than likely persumed dead on Reach.
• So that crazy cult bitch old lady from episode 1 tells Kwan to join them... She just manifested out of nowhere... She speaks for the planet, all the planet, Kwan walks away, but she's right behind her. She speaks for Madrigal (Kwan's planet btw that got glassed, just as a reminder). Crazy old bitch name drops her, Kwan is concerned now. She tries to guilt trip her, she turned her back on Madrigal, she forgot her name, the monster is close (Covenant? Flood?), she's speaking all cryptic. Find me, save me... yadda. Do not deny your name. She's also called protector. More of those cave paintings form the second episode. She's snaps out of it, it was like some sort of trance and she's spooked, and Riz is looking at her like, you okay dude?
•Covenent scene. Makee is running towards what I assume the bridge. The ship is seemingly controled from a holographic panel with two orbs on each side... Once again NOT PURPLE, and High Charity is in the background. She's staring out at it. She's concerned to be there. Var says their fleet as been recalled, they have failed the mission. She's very scared. Var hopes that they will accept that token (Cortana?) as an offering to mitigate his failure? Okay so, if Deviant Art Cortana is at High Charity, maybe just maybe the writers down the road want to do that thing where I do think it was Blue team, or a team with Master Chief sent to assassinate a prophet, or maybe it was a group of S3s. Apologies that I can't artistically remember everything... Or maybe in terms of the shows budget/writing standards Cortana just blows it up idk.
• Makee is still upset, Var says the order came from the heirarchs, but then she calls them liars, and Var replies,"Blaspheme again, and I will rip the breath from your body." Cold line from Var. Also please do.
• Okay I really also fucking hate how the Space Hebrew sounds, like dude come on we had Halo Reach, and CE (granted it's primarily WORTS). Also, if this show was cool it'd do that shit the Warcraft movie did and had the cleanest fucking transition between English and a fictional language, in that movie's case, Orcish. Like I'm gonna link it, just check that shit out it was clean, and also Orcish being heard by humans didn't sound like guttural eching and cawing and kvetching.
• She says the prophets are false, and they have no intention of beginning the Great Journey... Okay so is like this dude gonna be the Halo 2 Heretic? She explains it's not in their power to do so... They apparently know it. Var is suppsedly the one to bring them to the sacred ring.
• Var replies menacingly, "Your flattery is as cruel as it is empty."
•The prophets shame him cus they fear him, and that they would choke on their hypocrisy. Mackee is about to get the hsit beat out of her, and then Cortana I'm assuming is projecting GVMC's memory of the ring, and Gar is like dumbstruck by it's majesty and shit. He also doesn't know how it's projecting but I'm sure it's Devient Art Cortana.
• Makee is saying this is his Destiny. He asks what he has to do, he has to believe her. HE WAS SO CLOSE TO KILLING HER GODDAMNIT. Gar laments they'll send the whole fleet after him, she says they will fail. Goddamnit she was soclose to being killed. Cortana is just out on the hip and they fucking NOD at each other like their homies. and he begins piloting it, not in a cool floating shipmaster chair either in his dope ass purple interior CAS class cruiser... FFS man just get the covie aesthetic right, they did the UNSC so well. I guess that's prop vs CGI though.
• Riz struggles to put her jacket on, she then gets waved at by those red wearing people, and she waves back.
•Wife is back at that store, shopping. She's getting a blunt object, gloves, and barbed wire... Soren isn't here because he's too emotional. He also didn't recognize her (the irishman) without her wig. She made a zombie basher basically. Also emotional as in like, he'd go overboard.
• Irishman is scared, and her weapon is complete. She's walking at him menacingly. She talks abou remembering the scent of cutting his hair, afraid to hurt him. And she knew from then on if anyone hurt him she has no limit on what she would do, and implies she'll kill the fuck out of the guy. He's scared.
• She got him to talk, and it's revealed the UNSC took Kessler. This is told to Soren who was waiting outside.
• GVMC says their ride is read in 10, Riz is like nah fam, I'm done. GVMC goes full control freak mode, giving her an order to stand up, but she can't continue being a soldier and that she's gonn stay.
•GVMC lets her know that it's not over because Kai (presumed dead) And Vannack didn't say it's over, and it's not over until it is. GVMC says that she can't say no to this, they owe them, they lost him, He (I) lost them. Riz lets him know that it's just pain and all he can do is carry it, and if you don't make peace with it it'll crush them. GVMC lets her know he's all she has left, and she knows. They hug. I get what they're doing with his character, I don't like when he's all control freak like, but I think it's like him slowly (hopeful optimism) molding into the chief that's more like the main timeline one.
• GVMC lets Halsey know she's not coming. Halsey lets her know that she's no one now not in an insulative way, but like fact of the matter. Spartan presumed dead, and she's just a person on a planet now. She then grabs her dog tags after Riz walks her Tiny tim crippled ass off.
• GVMC and Halsey board Soren's ship.
• Cut to Kai, on Onyx walking somehwer. Propaganda posters up, "Finish his fight", "Heroes live forever" "Spartans never Die". She looks at Ackerson who is standing outside a door, he nods at her, and it opens up to Onyx. Kai puts on her helmet, she looks back, he walks off, and a bunch of Spartan IIIs persumably stand at attention to Kai, like this scene is straight up out of Star Wars: Attack of the Clones.

Most of my rants are built into the bulletin points. I fucking absolutely hate that Makee is back, I don't care if she becomes a plot point for the Heretic faction, fucking can't stand her and stupid fucking face Cortana. I like the Ackerson plot, and of course any scene with Soren he kills it. Still never explained how they magically found him nor how 80lb Kwan was holding a machine gun turret so casually... and firing it. Like I had mentioned, I kinda see the breadcrumbs to better relate GVMC to main line MC, with building his empathy for people slowly. Maybe adopting a preference to be in his armor more since the attack on reach. We'll see if the writers are actually capable down the road. I'm still also very annoyed about the Covenant aesthetic being grey and dreary instead of vibrant. As for Kwan, you know what, she has less screen time, but more than Makee, but she speaks less. I think I hate Makee more than Kwan. Both were god awful last season, do not get me wrong, but I just can't get over how stupid Makee looks, and the fact she exists. I wish we had a non human perspective from the covenant but humanize them through the mocap acting (Like look at how much fucking character Ghidora, and Godzilla, and Kong have in the monsterverse), we never fucking needed Makee, we could also have cool moments in battles between humans and Covenant with the two differnt POVs where they do that language switch think I had mentioned that the Warcraft movie did. But nooooo we had to have Makee. Granted Kwan still has that mystic shit going on with her, Like c'mon. Bungie's Halo didn't have magic shit in it, it's not needed in the show.

Hey just retardedly popping my head in to ask:

Is there ever going to be local/offline split screen co-op for MCC? Or is that something that you still need to install a half dozen third party mods and scripts to do?
