By the way, am I the only one who thinks that this video is some attempt at restoring Twilight to a semblance of cultural relevancy in the internet sphere as an alternative to Harry Potter ever since JK Rowling became public enemy number one? The ending of his last JKR video was "Harry Potter's dead to me, I'm switching to Twilight" and I don't think it's a coincidence that he now released a 3 hour lecture trying to pass off a horny vampire romance novel as highbrow literature unjustly dismissed by crass cultural commentators and the vulgar masses.

You see this weirdly often. For example, there was this display at some woke bookshop of "wizard books not written by TERFs" and a lot of them were Brandon Sanderson, who is also a fairly vocal and sincere seeming Mormon. If I were to speculate, the fact that both Meyer and Sanderson don't really talk much about politics or religion lets parasocial poisoned baby-(wo)men project onto them more than Rowling, who makes her positions on many subjects (troons, Israel, Johnny Depp believe it or not) lefties fixate on quite clear. All three authors seem to be nice enough people who I respect for their success (even if the work sometimes leaves me cool) but I think Sanderson and Meyer know their audiences might be turned off by their backgrounds.

I agree, also going off the summaries posted here I'm really curious how someone like Contra would explain concepts like friendship, camaraderie, or really any platonic human interaction. I actually don't think it's a coincidence that he doesn't seem to actually have any friends: his cynicism about romance probably extends to all human relationships.

He mentions that she's a Mormon housewife in the first few minutes that I watched, but considering that she seems to be a fairly private person (going so far as to not share her views on abortion because she hates celebrities who try to convince voters of a certain political view), I think he finds that more "tolerable" than evil JK Rowling who's liberal on almost everything but VERY loudly disagrees with gender ideology.

This ironically reminds me vaguely of the something he talked about in the Envy video: he says that people in a post-revolutionary society might envy and resent each other more than they ever envied the aristocrats because of the proximity effect (also a very cynical and regressive view of human interactions but that's not the point), so likewise I'm going to be cynical today and suggest that this is probably the reason he hates feminists and "TERFs" more than religious people (Mormons or otherwise). There's a safe distance between him and the latter, whereas fellow leftists/liberals/I have no idea what he's calling himself now/etc not entertaining him and his ideology probably hurts. A lot more.

It's a need for adoration. He was always testing the waters with this stuff, dressing up in bondage gear in old videos, talking about his kinks, generally just putting himself and his sex life into videos whenever he felt brave enough, and pushing it further whenever he got positive reinforcement. His transition wasn't instant like PhilosophyTube, it was gradual, and the more he got into crossdressing on camera and centering his identity around it the more his old audience of people who were into atheism and philosophical debates got replaced with an LGBT audience who are much more inclined towards celebrity worship. As his transition progressed his content became much more parasocial, inviting millions of random strangers into the most intimate aspects of his life. If he kept his identity as a straight man, it wouldn't get him the same cult of followers he has now.

Maybe time in between shots to come down from whatever he's smoking?

I completely agree with you. There were so many tangents and unrelated topics that could have been better explored in separate videos.

Throughout the entire video, Parrott obviously approaches the subject of sexuality from a “female” perspective, but I can’t believe he doesn’t see the irony of how he discusses male sexuality. “Some men want to be desired. They want to be the beloved. They’re tired of pursuing all the time.” That was YOU, Nick! From 2017 to 2019, he admitted that a huge part of being a woman to him was being beautiful and desirable!

Parrott is incredibly self-aware. I’m sure he’s picked up on this over the last couple of years. Even Blaire White admitted in a recent video that his gender dysphoria very likely stems from childhood drama and didn’t appear in a vacuum.

Parrott reminds me a lot of another lolcow named Nick who believes he’s past the point of no return. Nickolas Perry is clearly eating himself to death partially to troll but also because he thinks he’s past the point of no return. Parrott said in a few livestreams in early 2023 that he felt like transitioning ruined his life, he hated being trans. But he’s already gone through FFS; to detransition means becoming a hoary, hairy old man to him. He’s stuck resignedly, miserably, being trans. And the fetishistic aspect of it has completely melted away with boredom and solitude.

Nick is detail-oriented to the point of being detail-obsessed. You can see it in his sets, his sound design, the length of time it takes him to write his scripts, and his desire to do every aspect of production for every video. Very rarely does Nick ever use a shot that would require more than just himself to film. This is because he's introverted and very protective of his content. I know he gets some help with his music from Zoe Blade. But even the sound design is 90% Contra turbo perfectionism.

And make no mistake, Nick's tendencies towards perfectionism and maximalism are what delays his production schedule. That and the drug and alcohol problem, but being in a mental state where doing work means agonizing over it the way Nick does would delay anybody's production schedule.

YES! Definitely. This would have been a lot easier to watch, to understand, to digest if Nick had been able to break it into 5-8 parts and slow drip those to the channel. Nick really seems to have missed that TikTok trend towards short and micro-videos that caught on circa 2021, and instead decided to make epic-movie-length content that can't easily be promoted because it's so hard to summarize wtf it's even about. I know Dan and Harry are doing it, but hon, you ain't them! you're better than them.

I certainly wish Nick would go back to being a man, because he was funnier and seemed to be enjoying his process a lot more back then. Now I get the feeling he makes these videos because he has to, as that's his job now. Maybe he even thinks this is the house that trooning out built, and if he went back to being male he would have to return to his prior lifestyle. Hence what I feel is recycling of content and obsessive, reclusive tendencies coming to the fore.

No big surprise but likely none of his public girlfriends we would know of. It potentially didn’t even last that long. 2022-8 is 2014, but the Reddit poster said ~8 years ago.

This is something Nykysnottrans would have a lot more to say about if he were still posting.

Contralore: 2014 was the first time Parrott considered transitioning but didn’t even ant to go through it because he was scared of being an ugly hon. He addressed these “urges” by living a “double life” at night and getting into BDSM and forced feminisation. This would have been going on while he was trying to pursue a PhD in philosophy.

In general, Parrott strikes me as an emotionally manipulative manchild boyfriend with anxious attachment style. A mess to deal with, but especially with a man in his late 20s who takes it out on his partner and makes himself the victim. Also a mentally unstable alcoholic on a cocktail of antidepressants, klonazepam, and smoking.
