Not so much now, but even into the 1980s and early 1990s, the upper level of historic downtown retail was not residential, but usually some sort smaller office space(s) like attorneys, barbers, etc.Yeah I know that. I'm just not sure that all of them were built explicitly to have a retail unit on the ground floor with separate living units above, maybe they'd be paired so the owner and his family could live above, or sold entirely as dwellings then converted to retail by the owner.

Due to fucked up post-colonial borders, neither Egypt or Sudan claim this 2000 square km slice of land. There's absolutely nothing of value on this land, but who cares? You don't need natural resources or industry to build a city, you just need third spaces! Just imagine all the opportunities this land provides to your average bugman. There's no roads, so cars can't invade this land. It's all empty desert, which gives you ample space for 5 high speed rail lines, 4 lane wide bike roads, and 5 over 1s as far as the eye can see. Thinking of all those bodegas and barcades is making me excited! Now, you may be asking, what about the climate?

In regards to driving in China, that is a fucking nightmare. Once you leave the coastal cities, the infrastructure disappears in places. Even within the coastal cities, the "tofu" construction practices mean that its not unusual for an entire section of highway to just collapse.
Train travel is literally the only reliable way to get around China.

There isn't one, strictly speaking. The regs don't specify it directly, but instead require that head impacts on the bonnet (hood) don't exceed a certain force at certain speeds. There’s also no way that a guy who reviews pickup trucks for a living doesn’t know that beds come in multiple sizes and that the Kei truck can’t carry anywhere close to as much weight or travel at highway speeds when laden.
The YouTube algorithm has to be pushing this sort of stuff hard and everyone is trying to cash in.
