Tbh I don't think there is much actual research (like what Joyce is doing right now) and proper discussion, I haven't read Abigail Shrier, but I assume it wasn't mentioned because she probably is not aware enough of what's going on online. But maybe someone has read the book and can confirm.
But any place that is commenting on TIFs posting insane shit on social media, just like KF, has pointed out this issue.
