Not a snack, but I miss Beep. There's been a few chocolate bars that were discontinued here but I've managed to find them at import stores since the UK still makes them. The price isn't too bad at $2 a bar since that's how much normal non-import bars are at grocery stores and convenience stores are anyways. There's a bbq chip I liked back in the 90's that was discontinued. It came in a blue bag. They were long rectangles and came in Mesquite BBQ and All Dressed if I recall. They were almost like a Fritos but made with potatoes instead of corn.

Nerds are still around but the best ones were the Easter ones and the Halloween ones. They sometimes come back but they attach them to groady licorice.

The Christmas variety is the only good one left. The rainbow pack is ass, dominated by the artificial grape flavor.

I remember the cola flavored ones being outstanding, but they're probably 30 years in the grave.

If you don't know what nerds are, they're sugar coated bits of sugar.

Jesus. I think I last ate these twenty five years ago. I used to buy them at school swim carnivals and when my friends and I went to the baths in the holidays. I don't think I've ever eaten these things outside of a public pool area. Talk about a blast from the past.

In the hot dog thread I had to comment about the modern meatstick manufacturing trend towards homogenous and finely blended meat. I really wish Hormel would bring back Wranglers hot dogs. They were coarsely ground with clearly identifiable chunks of gristle and sometimes a small bone chip. BUT AT LEAST IT FELT LIKE I WAS CHEWING NATURAL MEAT.

Which brings me to the spooky tale of FRANK N STUFF!
chilidog.jpg
Frank 'n Stuff used Hormel brand chili for the filling, and was one of the company's six major product introductions between 1986 and 1987. At the time, the company described the product as "the fun food that features a tunnel of cheese or chili inside a Hormel hot dog". Frank 'n Stuff's eponymous mascot was a friendly Frankenstein-type character and Hormel ran frequent television and print advertisements featuring him.

In 1986, during labor unrest at a production plant, razor blades were found in two packages of the product, but there was no recall.

Twiglets, specifically the curry-flavoured one. It was limited edition way back in either the late 90's or early 2000's and tasted incredible. Stank to high heaven but was so good. There as also a Worcestershire sauce-flavoured one that was pretty great.

Chobani had these yogurt cups with a little compartment on the side full of fruit jelly. It was like the flips they have now, but with fruit instead of dessert toppings. They sold them at Costco back in the early 2010s. I have been looking for proof of their existence for the past hour but I get nothing.
If anyone manages to get me their name or a picture of them I would appreciate it and give you the little medal sticker.

I know they existed, but the Internet of today is so shit that you can nevrr find what you're looking for. I swear you could hide a body on the second page of Google and no one would find it.

I can't find anything like you're describing but I can find evidence of Daisy selling cottage cheese with a compartment similar to what you're describing.

Are you absolutely sure it was Chobani yogurt?

Wait a minute. I think I did find something.

That's... underwhelming if that's it. I was convinced "flip" wouldn't be included in the name for a yogurt with a jelly... syrup?

I'm sure it was actually dogshit to anybody with fully developed adult tastes, but I have a vivid memory of how delicious the Nintendo Cereal System was. For years afterwards I'd occasionally have dreams about eating it again and still have some nostalgia for it. I've heard others compare it (unfavorably) to everything from Fruity Pebbles to Lucky Charms, and my parents wouldn't buy the super-sugary shit for us back then, so I didn't have a real basis for comparison and it's possible it was no different from those. Nintendo was my whole life when I was a child, so no real surprises that I'd remember it being better than it was. It was actually my first introduction to the Legend of Zelda franchise, weirdly enough.

My favourite fish and chips shop shut down at the end of last year. They weren't just my favourite either, given the amount of customers there when I went to get a feed. The old shop has been converted to a burger joint. I tried one of the burgers for the first time last night, and chicken wings too.

They were awful. Absolutely awful.

I want my fish and chip shop back. There's no good ones left on my side of town.

Most of the cereals based on media properties were the same shit, I was fond of the ghostbusters one.

I never managed to snag any of the lays "Flavor Icons" chips.
I don't get why chip brands don't rotate old flavors more often, you get maybe a yearly rotation, and none of the fun ones ever come back. I particularly enjoyed the doritos lays chips, where they used the dorito powder on plain lays. There were several other also rans, but I didn't manage to buy them in time. It was called Lays Flavor Swap.

Fuck Takis and fuck the stick pivot. Doritos dildos. Also, holy shit does Lays push DEI.

I don't like that the old flavors have also changed, since I rarely eat these as a treat, I noticed its not as sweet nor flavorful as it used to. (:_(

I miss these every weekend.
I miss the Cheesy Bites Pizza too, I rarely order stuffed-crust pizzas (they're not my thing) but this was an exception to the rule. I think this was also around the time Pizza Hut also offered crust flavorings and I'd always get the "Hut Favorite" flavor on mine.

One Pizza Hut item I really miss is their Chocolate Dunkers, fuck their triple-chocolate brownie.

That looks heinous, I want to try it.
It's basically an alternate take on a stuffed-crust pizza, the only difference is that the cheese is sliced into smaller pieces and the dough is wrapped around said pieces

IIRC Part of the why the Flavor Icon chips were harder to find is due to minimum order sizes and stores fearing low sales on said items. It's also why some soda variations are harder to find.

I know the Chile Relano flavor was walmart restricted, and none of the ones in driving distance got it. Fuckers.
Same thing with the Mcdonalds meme sauce, I'm not driving 20 miles to hear that they "ran out" four hours ago.

Anyone remember the Pepsi Salted Caramel flavor? I tried it a few times back in 2018. Pretty good, probably because we only have like Pepsi's default flavour and Pepsi Zero in Vietnam
