As journos collectively get the chopping block in the exact same way they do at the beginning of every year (seriously, when will they get the hint?), 60 assorted redundant "writers" have formed a collective called Flaming Hydra (gay) that releases an email newsletter you can subscribe to for $3 a month (or $36 a year). So far 2000 people have paid for the luxury of receiving an email to their spam folder, which essentially breaks down into each of their 60 writers making $1200 per year.
Frankly even $1200 is too much, but also have none of these people worked freelance or run a substack or attempted any other alternative income stream? Journos are effectively retarded.
Ironically the business model employed by "Flaming Hydra" is reflective of the problem that leads to layoffs in the first place: nepotistic hiring practices, pointless overstaffing, rampant overspending. It'll be funny to monitor them and watch them crash and burn, their entire model is unsustainable.
