Nah, no one's going to bat for Somerton because he's gay, for a couple of reasons. Firstly, he's still white and cis, which both matter way more in the oppression olympics these days, being a cis white gay man gives you barely any brownie points. Secondly, the people who Somerton plagiarised and grifted from were mostly other LGBT people, so that gives them even less reason to be sympathetic. Hbomberguy is bisexual (or at least claims to be, I've never seen any substantial evidence he actually likes men), so Somerton can't claim he's being punched down on. Altogether these factors mean Somerton's gayness counts for nothing.
I watched all of it and thought it was pretty obviously the other way around. iilluminaughti and IH were just the warm-up before he fucking bodied Somerton. He was very much personally invested in exposing Somerton because they're both faggots but HB fancies himself a virtuous one (as if there were such a thing)
