He was too busy gutting things of actual cultural value like Turner Classic Movies to save a few pennies.

It's sad to watch a bit of the old internet die (with people having fond memories of their old content such as Red vs. Blue), but RT has spiraled over the last decade. I don't want to say that Monty's death was the trigger, but it was the catalyst (as nobody really had a clear vision, which worsened when members of the old guard left). It's just really surprising that WB has let it live this long.

They really haven't though. WB tried to auction them off and got no "good offers" and then tried to sell them off and couldn't. WB was trying to recoup losses since the company was basically bleeding money from the sounds of it. The only good thing is now RT staff and fans can shut up about how the company is doing great and the numbers on the website are amazing and higher than they've ever been. On the other hand, even despite the company being shuttered, they're still trying to force people to use the website to post comments and engage with the staff while they have some time remaining.

God, I'm so fucking tired of people who were successful in a role/job, then coming out later and saying "it was the worst time of my life". Maybe he had personal shit going on, but this is the exact same as every female employee saying they have PTSD after leaving Roosterteeth because of some minor slight.

I'm so sorry you were beloved by hundreds of thousands of fans, went to huge events for free (where sometimes you were a featured star), got to play video games all day, hang out with celebrities, and have what most people would consider a litteral dream job. Thank God you got out of that amazing situation just to turn around and bitch about it for sympathy while enjoying ANOTHER dream job as a streamer.

while I wasn't involved during the heyday of RVB, they were the only ones I managed to find at the time making serious gaming guides. Fails of the week was also pretty fun. Those halo custom maps were some good videos. Minecraft is a classic series. It's maybe telling that I aren't heard a single thing RT has done for years and years. The last thing I saw were what were clips of their D&D show.

I haven't watched most or near all content of theirs since 2017, slowly stopped caring through 2018 and gave up in 2019, but it is fucking surreal to see.

They were just a shell of themselves. They failed to see that pulling in people with zero chemistry and who weren't funny cough Trevor cough just killed what people initially watched RT and AH for. Each member had their own unique personality from Ray's dry wit to Gavin being a fucking lunatic spaz who vomits at the sight of wet bread. I know I'm simply talking about AH here and not RT as a whole, but man it bums me out of how bad AH and then RT got.

Welp, end of an era I guess. I'll always love 2012-2015 AH and even before that for RT in general with things like the great shorts they made and of course RvB.

What's truly been amazing is all the denial that has been going around for months before this implosion.
Hindsight of course is 2020 but there have long been many signs that all was not well at Roosterteeth.
And anytime any of these points were ever brought up, the absolutely zealous fans coming out of the woodwork to shut down anything even hinting at bad news has been truly astounding to witness.
The fact that their official subreddit even had a rule where you were not allowed to discuss or mention RT dying short of just of being told to "fuck off" really highlights the depths of denial that these people were living in. Remember all those excuses that were made when the news of RTX was canceled for the year? I don't know how you could look at that news and not think that something was wrong.

Personally I am looking forward to this thread for the next few weeks because the cope and seethe will be unraveling in real time and it will be a sight to behold.

I watched so much RT/AH back in the day, was sad to see them become awful. There’s a lot of things that ruined that company, but the biggest was poor leadership and that the loudest voices were pandered to. The ones who did a bad job get what they deserve.

I still listen to some of the podcasts but I feel like time is ticking down for them, even if the network will continue. I hope the last few good ones jump ship soon.
